I bought the RtR Gift Box last year, and I was very impressed by the product. The box was very sturdy, the dividers are thick and beautiful, and the overall impression was that it was a high quality product. This year however, the Theros version of the same product is vastly inferior.
Firstly, the box itself feels flimsier and less sturdy. The lid of the box that I bought had some bubbling issue with the cover, whereas the RtR box did not have this issue. The interior of the box seemed to use thinner cardboard as well. Secondly, those thick, beautiful dividers that came with the RtR gift box have been replaced with ones that are much, much thinner. That was the most disappointing part for me, because I was genuinely impressed by the ones offered in RtR. Overall, I was very disappointed by this year's gift box, and just wanted to get the word out to people who were expecting the same level of quality as last year's gift box.

I thought I was the only one who noticed the inferior quality of the box. My only consolation was the Xenagos and Master of Waves I got from the boosters.

Oh my gosh, I also got a Xenagos! Maybe a copy of Xenagos automatically comes with the Theros gift box?

No. Me and a buddy played Pack Wars with the packs in the giftbox, and the best thing a rare did there in any format was let me gank his Keepsake Gorgon

That was pretty interesting. But dropping a warship on me is cheating. Take it back!
It costs around $20. Assuming you get boosters for $3.50, you're paying $6 for one foil uncommon and a pretty flimsy box. I thought it was thick like those hat boxes your mom has in her wardrobe but the quality's pretty terrible.
Was planning to get this as well but upon seeing the box I'd probably forego with this and spent my $20 on better deck boxes instead.
Oh my gosh, I also got a Xenagos! Maybe a copy of Xenagos automatically comes with the Theros gift box?
Speaking of Xenagos, at yesterday's FMN, I actually got one from the gift box and another one from one of the prize support boosters. I never get this lucky with planeswalkers.
The Theros box did feel a little thinner, but I'm ok with it. My box didn't have any warping or other production problems and the plastic dividers felt the same as the RtR box's. Overall I feel fine with my purchase, and now I have room for 2,000 more of the loose cards of my collection.
If the Theros box is thinner... that's definitely a no-go. I loved the holiday box last year, but the three people in my meta who used theirs regularly... they fell apart fast. I babyed mine, used it to store a cube, barely handled it at all... and two corners split. I wish they made them better, or out of sturdier material. I might just send one to a wood box maker guy and have them copy it out of the good stuff.

That's a real shame. I really liked the Ravnica box, and while the art isn't as neat on the Theros box, I was considering picking one up to use for storage or as a cube box.
Thanks for letting us know that the quality has dipped.
I bought 4 boxes last year primarily because I needed space to store cards. I had no splitting issues with any of them. One box has a crease because I accidently kicked it but that is it. A friend of mine bought a Theros box and I didn't see any noticeable differences but I didn't compare them side by side.
The Theros box was definitely made of thinner cardboard than last year's RtR one. I would have thought the plastic dividers were the same until I read the comments on here. Comparing them directly to the RtR dividers, they are slightly flimsier. (I guess WOTC looking to save a few cents anywhere they can). They still seem fine to me though (as I said, I wouldn't have noticed without the direct comparison), but the box itself is definitely a noticeable step down in quality...
One of the RtR ones I got was utter crap. It was splitting in one of the corners almost immediately upon opening it. The other one seems to be holding up decently. The Theros ones feel less heavy but so far no issues there.
Two Thoughtseizes in mine. I didn't even bother checking the quality since I was happy with my pull. However, I did notice the dividers being thinner and I could have sworn it came with more lands in RtR. I should compare the two boxes when I get the chance.
I'm disappointed with the sticker sheet, comparatively.
While I like several of the choices they added, those two big, empty black bars on each side make it feel like you're getting a LOT less stickers than the previous sheets.
Yes, it may seem silly, but honestly the sticker sheet is one of the bigger selling points of the gift box to me.
I haven't compared but the sticker sheet did seem to have less. I needed storage so bought 1, got Thassa, after someone else got Thassa/Elspeth I bought a second and got a second Thassa. Thassas all round. Everyone I've seen open one has got value.
Honestly, the only things that seem to be "missing" on the sticker sheet are the Ravnica Guild symbols. And it seems like they added stickers for each of the core sets, so now all Modern legal set have their set symbols represented.
It does seem like they changed the layout to minimize empty space between the stickers, and at first glance it seems like there are less, but I don't think that's really the case...
The box from the RTR one was garbage too, within a month mine was splitting on the corners.
I've got 2 from last year that are still in great condition. I use one for storing sleeves, toploaders, supplies, etc. The other stores junk commons/uncommons from prizes. They've both held up very well.
Like any mass produced product, there are bound to be some duds and bad batches. Sorry to hear you got a bad one.

I'd recommend buying the stickers on ebay. I'm sure there are plenty of people willing to sell the sheet alone. Or, find a friend who wants packs and split the cost with him.
I've inspected the two boxes that I bought this year compared to the original RTR holiday box:
1. The quality of the box cardboard is inferior - not dramatically, but definitely thinner. This applies both to the sides and top, as well as the dividers inside.
2. There is a slight puckering/texture of the cover label, probably due to the inferior cardboard--you wouldn't notice it by itself, but when placed beside last year's box, the top is smoother.
3. The plastic dividers inside are thinner than the impressive dividers in the RTR box. They are thicker than any of the dividers that are in the old fat-packs (timeshift, dissension, ravnica, etc.), however.
4. The stickers are about the same quality, just spaced out more efficiently.
At $16, I'm happy with the price I paid per box... 4 theros packs are basically that much anyways. It's too bad that WotC made the decision to take a step backwards in quality, though. Not rage-worthy... just disappointing.

I felt the same way about the box. All my rares were pretty much garbage. Reaper of the Wilds was my best rare. =(

It doesn't hurt that my boosters contained Master of Waves and Hero's Downfall, either.
