Hi all, I'm looking to invest in a good bag/carrying case for my magic stuff to bring to tournaments since I'm tired of just using the same backpack I use for school.
I'm looking for something that can hold both my decks and trade binders, with maybe some space for sleeves and dice. Can you guys make any good recommendations?

The back has a zipper pocket that runs the length of the bag and my 1" trade binder fits perfectly in there. Lots of other pockets for dice and stuff to.Really any messenger bag does well, this is just a higher end geek model.
I also use the Dragon's Egg (http://power9pro.com/) for when I go to tournaments. I just got it in January, but I like it alot. It really keeps your cards safe and holds just what you need for that tournament. The only drawback is that there's no place for a binder so you either have to carry your binder separate or just have loose trade cards.
Those are my suggestions, but I'm sure other people have some good ones too.

I highly, highly recommend the dragons egg. despite the small size, it's great for carrying decks and the like, plus it's well constructed. if you've trouble finding space for a trade binder, just sleeve up the cards you're interested in trading and stow them away inside. convient, and space effective.

I'm old fashioned, I use a laptop case that holds practically everything I need. Friend of mine uses a good size backpack to hold most of his stuff. Only reason I don't use the Dragon Egg is because I really need the binder space.
I just use a Jan Sport backpack. The simplest one is cheaper than one of those Ultra Pro carrying cases, and it's more durable. You can fit more than one binder and as many decks as you want.
The best part is you can use it for non magic stuff if you ever need another bag.

Hmmm, it say the pockets can hold rules sheets and pamphlets, so it might be too small for your binder. Looks like you could just layer the binder on top of the decks maybe. For the price though, I think you should just look into a messenger bag.

it looks like it can fit a thin trade binder, which is what i use.
I used to have one. The foam is really low quality and will rip after not very long. It's also really expensive for what it is. I wouldn't recommend it.

I use and recommend the Ultra Pro Zipped Binder. It has four mesh pockets that can hold a small sleeved deck (no deck box) or unsleeved deck in a tournament pack type box. It also has two full size pockets for decks in deck boxes. It has a long mesh pocket for assorted other stuff, like pencils.
I use one deck pocket for dice, one pocket for cards waiting to be sorted and filed, and two pockets for the Elves vs Goblins decks, for extended/legacy/introduction play, and the two bigger deck pockets are for my 2 current T2 decks. The long pocket holds a set of forty sleeves for limited.
In the binder, I've got all my pre-type2 tradable rares plus foil lands and all type 2 rares and uncommons. It's getting tight in there, but I like being able to have nearly everything I'd want to trade or use in a deck available in one place.
Messenger bag or stereotypical backpack. I have a Timbuk2 bag that I use as my laptop case when needed and as my magic bag for tourneys. It's comfortable to wear, and holds a lot of stuff (binder + decks + everything else needed.
Think you can get some of the smaller ones for a pretty reasonable price.
I actually got a nice messenger bag from where I work (Gamestop) and it works really well. We get some random nice ones in, most recently representing Mirror's Edge and Resident Evil.
What about those Metal Rook cases, does anyone have any feedback on those?
Well on the downside they're kinda heavy (though it depends on the size), but and they seem expensive. The upside is that a friend of mine dropped 70 bucks on one and I thought he was dumb, but I didn't know if came with something like 15 individual metal deck boxes inside. So it's a good value is you need everything to store you many many decks, but it doesn't really hold other items like binders or dice (unless you waste a deck box slot).

Hey guys thanks for all the replies. The vibe I'm getting from everyone is that a separate bag/backpack will do just fine, and I see it as being more practical as well, so I decided to invest in a nice messenger bag by Case Logic. Thanks!

Fits most things, doesn't really mess with my back and shoulders, very nice.
