well, we all know that karsten is gone from mtg.com, who do you think they will put to write that column (or something alike)? I mean the column was by far the most expected every week and that should be a huge factor on the decidig who will write next, It has to be a pro no doubt about that. but who will that person be? and, will the column stay unchanged or will it take a diferent direction?
I always did enjoy his ( Frank Karsten's ) articles. He has a way of making the standard environment exciting. Even though I'm a strictly cardboard player myself, Frank had an interesting take on all his versions of the netdeck builds he showcased.
im gonna miss kartsen's articles as well, he's an amazing player and knows how to build decks believe me, they will probably put some kind of making a deck for fun crap thing, oh well
but of all people, flores gets karstens mtgo job, just freaken great
I acctualy not a fan of flores anymore, I think his age of been "the man of magic" has passed, I would acctualy prefer a top pro like oliver rual or any of the japs.
if the do put a "for fun" column insted of onlin tech I'm going to proclaim mtgsalvation.com as the new official mtg website.:D

WotC said they weren't going to have the Online Tech column anymore and leave such matter to Swimming with Sharks and Michael J. Flores.

Don't read anything LaPille. Your brain will thank you later. ----> VICTORY!
Amazing that so many people don't seem to realize how HUGE the casual and non-competitive readerbase of WotC's site it.
Anyone who wants nuts and bolts of tournament play has (and will continue to) read starcity, this site, and other sites like brainburst.
Wizards will continue to organize their site mainly as an information source, and secondly as a window to the player community at large. And thats not a bad thing - don't forget that a MAJORITY of pack sales go to the non-com players.

I will miss him to. Maybe not realistic, but I would love to have guest columnists, writing maybe for 4 weeks, then get a new one. They could let people from the Hall of Fame write, former world champions, Garfield etc. Just my 2 cent.

More and more you see on this site not the nuts and bolts of tourney play but a bumping of heads with tourney players and FNM weekend warriors who in the end are little more then casual players. Karsten's Online Tech was a great resource and one which will be largely missed.
I'd also have to disagree with you, while a majority of the WOTC site readers might be non-competitive, causal players I'd wager they're not the driving force in the market. When you think about it stores like Starcity are. They buy cases and cases of booster boxes at a time for each new set that comes out. The same cannot be said of a causal player, and in a given year a mayor store like that could highly likely buy more then a causal player would in 5 years, if not 10. Even the smaller local card sellers I know in my area buy far more packs then many casual player groups do combined.

Yeah, but who buys the majority of those cards from the stores? Casual players.
Anyway, I really wish Karsten would have replaced Flores and not the other way around.

I am among the many who will miss reading Karsten's articles...
Does he have an account here?
