Hi all, just making some more baseless speculation regarding Amonkhet's masterpieces.
Amonkhet is essentially Egypt with Nicol Bolas reigning over it. Assuming they play heavily into this theme, Wizards can do an Indiana Jones-ish archaeology expedition, where the Masterpieces are artifact equipment, auras, and curses - like ancient Egyptian tombs had treasures (equipment include weapons, crowns, collars) and curses to protect it. Because when I think Egypt, I think Pyramids, Mummies, and tomb raiding.
While only a handful of curses are worth remaking (the Innistrad and Dark Ascension Rares) and the equipment theme can look a bit like Kaladesh Masterpieces (it looks like they're reprint the entire swords of X and Y set, plus plenty of other equipment) this can vibe with Amonkeht pretty well. Much like Kaladesh made very disparate artifacts into a Kaladesh theme Painter's Servant, Chromatic Lantern, Sword of Feast and Famine - all from different planes, but mesh with the Inventor's fair theme.

DECKS:
Commander:
Aurelia the Warleader - Combat Tricks and Swarm
Oloro, Ageless Ascetic - Lifegain/Lifedrain Pillowfort
Trostani, Selesnya's Voice - Token Assault
Meren of Clan Nel Toth - Reanimator Value
Mizzix - Out of the Box Spellslinger
I would absolutely love this if it were real! What if instead of artifacts they chose enchantments? I think it still might fit the theme, while feeling fresh.
Personally I would like to see monsters highlighted in the next Masterpiece Series.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Can I go really *fantasy world* here and say they could change their policy on the Reserved List this year so the Amonkhet masterpieces are all cards from the Reserved List?
I think the masterpieces will be enchantment focused. For the block I could see them doing something like these 45 and leave 5 for the block.

I think a basic rule of masterpieces is that they also have to flavor fit in the world of the set. So Legendary creatures from other planes are probably not going to happen.
I do hope so - if it's god based, there's a good chance that Amonkhet will have Enchantment themes, a la Theros.
It lets WoTC reprint a lot of stuff that we'd never see outside a Modern Master set - like Omniscience or Doubling Season.

Though recently reprinted could see welcome to the fold getting a reprint potentially tragic slip? I also could see pestilence/pestilence demon getting a reprint.

Damnation for one.
Ok, a more realistic theme could be Death-related cards giving that the Ancient Egypt had a really big culture about Death. Literal like Damnation, Day of Judgment, Hero's Downfall and things like Greater Good, Death's Shadow, Grave Pact.

So what's the theme here, exactly? "Tomb Guardians of Amonkhet"? That would be cool, tbh.
