They have had some vehicle type stuff as one-offs in the past so i could see them being a part of the future. I think equipment will the dominant combat artifact but it think if the theme is right we will see vehicles again.
Something like
Urza's Station Wagon
Mishra's Pickup Truck
Flowstone Speedboat
Jace's Segway
Garruk's Monster Truck
What about vehicles in the Egyptian block that reflect the ethereal or ability to cross over to the plane of the dead. I can see some cool cards in that theme.
I would imaging that, much like equipment, we will get a small handful each set that are quite unplayable. Every once in a blue moon there will be something powerful.

Vehicles will not become evergreen, when (and if) they return, it will be on a plane where it makes sense. That won't be on Amonkhet, and not close to Kaladesh block.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
I'm hoping that they eventually do something similar for mounted creatures like Griffin Rider. If they get it right a mounted ability might become evergreen.

Well, they probably won't show up in the next few blocks because of the two year rule and all, though Equipment and Prowess were obviously exceptions. But much like hybrid mana, I expect Vehicles to become deciduous. The Pirate and Western blocks will want them (Ships for Pirates, Trains and Wagons for Western), and I could see a one-off Vehicle showing up someplace like Ravnica.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
I think colored vehicles should come as early as aether revolt.
Colored artifacts are very scarce so colored vehicle can mostly be printed in an artifact block.
Crew is key to the flavor of vehicles and unlike equip, by design, it's complex enough to never be evergreen in my opinion. Perhaps once or twice we shall get some mythic vehicles but it just does not seem like an everyday mechanic. Also, it's part of what makes kaladesh successful so far and I think it's even more likely to be the marquee return mechanic of Kaladesh than energy (likely to be explored outside of artifacts, great fit with Vryn).
Also, design space for colored vehicles is rather small, so I think getting one cycle only of rare or mythic colored vehicles should be fine.
Designs I hope for: U: a refrigerated truck with 'frost'-ability B: a hearse with a gravedigger effect (one shot or repetitive)
Equipment is MORE complex than vehicles. It does weird stuff like not being able to be equipped while it's a creature and can only be activated as a sorcery which isn't even written on the card most of the time anymore. Vehicles just have cost:become a creature until end of turn like plenty of other artifacts and lands. Sure, they look weird, but they don't really function any differently than if you just made it an ability word and wrote out "crew Tap any number of creatures you control with total power 1 or less: Sky Skiff becomes a 2/3 artifact creature with flying until end of turn." They really don't do anything you wouldn't expect from any other artifact with an activated ability. They just seem more complex to enfranchised players because you've been playing with equipment forever.
Crewing multiple times isn't any different than any other become a creature until end of turn effect. Back before lifelink became a yes/no thing, there was incentive to activate a lifelink ability over and over and gain X times N life where X is the creature's power and N is the number of times the ability was activated this turn. Infact Genju of the Fields still does that. Haste on vehicles isn't really unintuitive. It works like any other creature. Vehicles really don't work any differently than any random artifact/land that becomes a creature until end of turn like a Keyrune or Dread Statuary. There's no reason you couldn't activate other ones multiple times, at end of turn, and they can't attack the first turn without haste either.

Colored vehicles. Color in CMC or in activations
Blue bird / flying contraption
White Ox / Caravan
Red goblin balloon / coach
Green mammoth / sling
Black grave cruiser type
I think there is a lot of design space if they tried to make vehicles more color specific.
Something like
Urza's Station Wagon
Mishra's Pickup Truck
Flowstone Speedboat
Jace's Segway
Garruk's Monster Truck
In Progress
GBIshkanah, Grafwidow ~ BWGRTymna the Weaver & Tana, the Bloodsower ~ UGRashmi, Eternities Crafter ~ RGAtarka, World Render
What is the honest speculation on Vehicles being seen again?
I do like them quite a bit but I feel like printing too many good ones could be bad.
