Six blocks between first and second Ravnica blocks. Five blocks between second and third Ravnica blocks (if it's true). Not a big difference, but now we have two blocks per year...
The bigger thing is time, 6 years between Ravnica and RtR. With this "Ravnica 3.0" it will be less than 4 years. That is too soon, especially when there are so many other returns we want to see (Alara, Lorwyn/Shadowmoor, etc) although admittidly there are only so many sets we can return to for now with there only being about 8 or 9 planes and several have or will be revisited. There will definitely be a faster rate of return with the new rotation but there needs to be time to adjust, Ravnica was only 2 rotatioms ago.
I think it is more likely we will get 2 new planes, then a return, then alternate or so.

I've heard return to Alara/Lorwyn is nearly impossible because people disliked it. Not sure.
I believe it. Not surprised by an Egypt set and bringing back more gods with devotion would be slick. Keep an eye out for devotion enablers in Innistrad if true. I also would be inclined to believe the Ravnica news though I am disappointed if true. I never liked Ravnica as much as everybody else, and WE WERE JUST THERE! But since WOTC seems inclined to revisit newish planes in such rapid succession lately, Zendikar, Innistrad, Ravnica it seems plausible. Not sure what they could do differently with yet another dual color set though.
Egyptian myths may not be as well known as Greek or Norse, and they may not provide us with nearly as many fantastical creatures, but it does have some very well-known tropes that can be called upon for resonant flavor, including mummies, tombs full of curses, traps, and treasure, and of course the animal-headed gods which inspire the use of tribes like Catfolk, Jackalfolk, and Aven.
This is knd of the main thing I've always had bouncing around in my head. Each of the gods would have an animal head and an associated spirit animal, and the aesthetics of cards associated with a particular god would feature their animals somehow, either as art on their clothes, or masked priests, or beastfolk, or literal animals, or whatever else. I just really like the simplicity of it but still greatly feeling Egyptian mythology-like, yet still totally open to being something you can make all the designers' own. And if they went with gods always being associated with enchantments, for example Theros had the Nyx Starfield constellation motif, if the defining motif of these Egyptian gods are aspects of animals, you could use that as the defining aesthetic that ties together the enchantment creatures like how Nyx was used. It just feels like it could be something that can be made to be both iconic and distinctive to Magic. My only problem is that it's kind of hard to strictly stretch that design motif to 10+ colors and it feels like only having monocolor gods would be too much similarity to Theros's main 5 (but I mean... as Magic is so strongly associated with the 5 colors, I guess it shouldn't be that weird that a world's pantheon would revolve around the monocolors, but still..).
I'm waiting for a Norse or Egypt world just so I can see exactly how they plan to do non-Theros gods on these worlds that have to have them. Whether they'll remain Enchantment Creatures, whether these worlds will always have to have devotion, or if they'll lean towards doing something totally different with them...

They didn't care that he was the savior of Fort Keff, the great hunter of Ondu, the champion of Kabira. To them, he was just another piece of flesh, a thing with life to be drained away.

I would expect Egypt-inspired gods to be Artifact Creatures since the Egyptian gods were said to have flesh made of gold. Thus I would expect an Egyptian set to focus more on artifacts than enchantments, though Curses would be a fitting subtheme.
The four major tribes I would see are Human, Aven (WUB), Leonin (GW and maybe R), and Jackalfolk (WBR). I could see BG or GU Nagas in there as well since cobras frequently appear in Egyptian symbology. Apes and Crocodiles have bases in Thoth (usually portrayed as either a baboon or an ibis) and Sobek respectively. Hathor had the head of a cow in some portrayals so there's a basis for Minotaurs. Mummified Zombies can be pulled from each race, so I would at the very least put Mummies in WB.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
I think you could have a cycle of 10 gods with tribal elements. Instead of devotion, manifesting when you have enough creatures on the battlefield/in the grave or something.
The cards selected for the List weren't chosen based on efficiency; it was just a 20% mandate that took away the chance to reprint certain random cards. They could still have pyramids in an Egypt block, they'll just have to be different from the Pyramids card.
I wonder if they'll have a land card based on the Great Sphinx that becomes a Sphinx artifact creature? A bigger Dread Statuary with flying would be neat. Or it could work like Gargoyle Castle.

If it was up to me, Egyptian gods would be Legendary Artifact Creatures that become animated with Devotion, while Norse gods would be normal Legendary Creatures with a reworked Level-Up based on Devotion or the tides of the battlefield.
Everything is too derivative now-a-days. I mean, we just had a return to Zendikar, now a return to Innistrad, then people want return to Theros, but in an Egyptian facade? Why even have a creative team - just riff off everything done previously in toto.
If we're going to have a desert world I'd MUCH rather see a riff of Dune than a rehash of human mythology. Give me the SPICE!

MTGSalvation; Where the whining is a time honored tradition, and enjoying the game is trolling.

Those are actually pretty good ideas. Enchantment Gods beyond Theros would just end up being boring and predictable in comparison.
EDIT: Also, even the devotion mechanic, now that I think about it. There's this Clash of Titans thing about Greek gods needing devotion to manifest themselves in the world. Not so much with Egyptian or Norse gods though. We could've something akin to devotion, but involving other features of permanents instead of their colors.
I disagree with that assumption, but I'm not against the idea of trying a twist if that twist happens to work better.
And no duh Egypt world would have some similarities to Theros; they're both worlds based on god-centric mythologies, thus similar tropes will appear. You'll get that with god-centric Norse, Indian, and Japanese worlds too. But we're not suggesting that Egypt world simply be Theros with pyramids and mummies; the sole mechanical link that's been proposed is devotion. Gods forbid that another set of Gods have a Godly mechanic. The rest as has been pointed out in this very thread would swing closer to Innistrad, particularly where the graveyard focus would be concerned. Would a greater focus on artifacts turn Egypt world into a rip off of Mirrodin?

If there is going to be an egyptian set, it's going to be heavily based around the afterlife. Not coincidental afterlife like Innistrad, zombies, spirits, angels, etc. This is like, we are pulling stuff from the afterlife into our reality and the afterlife is pulling stuff from our reality into itself kind of madness. All I got to say is that I hope people like graveyards and exile mechanics, because I got a feeling that if the next set is Egyptian based we are going to see a lot of stuff like Athreos, God of passage.

I swear I first read it as Wingbonger...something tells me that "As Long as Wingbonger is paired with another creature, both creatures have weed." wouldn't be as good. Seems solid for limited.

I can understand Lorwyn, even though I liked the plane. But not returning to Alara would be a shame.
I legitimately believe in this.

Egyptian gods should have another mechanic to identify them.Lowryn's avatars were deities kinda like gods and they had diferent mechanics.
Just saying that Egyptian gods don't need devotion to make them work.
