It seems that WOTC has recently designed cards with land fetching effects that use a rather narrow 'basic land' wording, i.e. search your library for a 'basic forest' rather than the broader 'forest.' This would seem to indicate that they are concerned about the effect being too powerful without the inclusion of the word 'basic.' But aside from eternal formats, why would they need to worry about this. There are the original duals in vintage/legacy and the shocklands in modern, but no basic duals currently in standard. Shocklands were recently reprinted so we won't be seeing those again anytime soon.
With the possibility of WOTC exploring exile as an eldrazi resource / additional casting cost, what if we get a new kind of dual land in BFZ. Something like:
Mossy Bog
Forest Swamp
As mossy bog comes into play, you may exile x cards (where x is something like 4 to 6 cards) from the top of your library. If you don't, mossy bog comes into play tapped instead.
Would WOTC be cruel enough to do this.. Not only would the people clamoring for a reprint of ZEN fetches not get them in BFZ but a new kind of basic dual lands would actually make fetches more valuable.
Basic only means a basic forest or snow covered. They wouldn't attach the word "basic" to any type of dual. The idea of mossy bog isn't bad just that Basic is for basics.
I didn't mean they are using the word 'basic' to enable a new dual land, but rather to limit what can be fetched so the effect doesn't get abused. Would Nissa or Nissa's Pilgrimage be broken or any different in standard by using the word 'forest' instead of 'basic forest'? Currently the only forest you can search for is a basic one unless they introduce a new dual.

Well if they made it 20 that might make milling a tier one deck in constructed.
Or perhaps exile 1 card from your hand to make it etb untapped instead of exiling x cards from the top of you library.
