It isn't inconceivable since they want to push Modern and the shocklands will be out of standard, reducing the power of fetches in standard. However, I'm not sure fetches were as stupidly expensive as they are now when Khans of Tarkir development started. We may have to wait until Return to Zendikar.

Aaron Forsythe said that they hadn't expected the spike. The spike was in late January/early February, so Tarkir would probably either be too late in development to replace the land cycle. My guess is that they will be in Blood/Sweat/Tears.

Is that the next expansion after Khans block? At least I have time to get non-land Modern staples before fetches get reprinted and spike the prices since everyone will be trying to hop in.

Yes, that is the next block after Tarkir. I am also glad that most of the prices of nonland cards in Modern are stable right now, but I really do need blue fetchlands right now.
Isn't there already a thread about fetches? They a;l need to go into that thread. This question is getting old, and while fetches are nice, they aren't a required part of a deck.
while fetches are nice, they aren't a required part of a deck.
Fetches are required for almost every competitive Modern deck.
No. Very few decks NEED fetch lands to stay afloat. You can build budget versions of most modern lists just fine by excluding the fetchlands. They just run smoother with them, so most lists run them to squeeze optimum performance out of the deck. Fetches could be outright banned from modern and only a few decks would vanish in their entirety. Many would just have to come to terms with not being able to run 3+ colors and still consistently cast Cryptic Command on curve.

I didn't say you can't build a budget version of a competitive deck. I specifically said that almost every *competitive* deck requires them. Also, it seems obvious that decks won't disappear if the fetches are banned, since everyone is on the same playing field of not being able to use them.

Thing is they don't reprint solely based on how expensive a card is. Nothing would have stopped them from already trying to place them in the set before hand. In general they might not be but they could be. We wont really know until Tarkir spoilers start rolling around which wont be till end of august/early september.
And lets be honest they can change things late enough in development, that's how Tarmogoyf exists in the first place. They could even have two duals cycles in block since theirs two big sets to work with. 5 fetches & 5 uncommon duals in Tarkir then the other 5 fetches & the other 5 uncommon duals in the 2nd big set. i.e- allied fetches & enemy slow taps in Tarkir then enemy fetches & alliedslowtaps in 2nd big set.

i hope they'll come next summer with a modern master 2
This question is getting old, and while fetches are nice, they aren't a required part of a deck.
lol yeah, it's not like they are awesome lands in modern, legacy and even EDH fetchlands are the best lands ever. coupled with the shocklands are awesome. in my EDH deck, adding the shocklands and the fetch made my chance of getting manascrewed around turn 5 dropped by half, even more. so saying that fetch aren't useful is simply wrong. they are and they need to get reprinted asap.
unless you are a speculator and are enjoying these absurd prices...

If Modern Masters 1 was any indication of a trend, Fetches being reprinted in Modern Masters 2 will only make them more expensive.
Fetchlands need to be reprited in a theme block like Khans of tarkir making them easy to get and lower the prices a lot
Put it in Dual Decks or on Modern Master 2 its ridiculus due to reduce number of copies that will come to the market
In Standard, they will drop to 10€ each and lower maeby, in MM2 will increase more like Tarmo or Dark Confidant
I will be happy if reprint Zendikar fetch or Onslaugt on standard, this will be nice too

I am convinced they will never reprint the original fetch lands again. Landbase in Modern would be pretty much the same as the landbase in legacy (except for the original dual lands).
I think that they will reprint the Zedinkar lands or "search-for-only-one-type-of-land fetch"
So my guess is Tarmogoyf and the command cycle so we can get cryptic out there more. I cant think of other things that will come out of this besides a more acceptable wasteland-type land that can be played in modern to combat the 3 color decks. Id be ok with a wasteland that required 1 or 2 mana to use or cost 2 life to activate.

Isn't there already a thread about fetches? They a;l need to go into that thread. This question is getting old, and while fetches are nice, they aren't a required part of a deck.
Finally someone gets it.
Fetchlands are used in just about every modern deck, and they make them better, but they're definitely not necessary. Personally I just want to see the Fetchlands reprinted just so People will finally shut up. All I hear is people complaining about Fetchlands. Honestly, modern might be my least favorite format because of how expensive and tightly wound it is. You need money to play it, and if you're not playing one of maybe five super competitive decks, you're going to lose.
Anyhow, I do believe Wizards will give us Fetchlands (all ten) soon. If not Khans, then in the next block. It's going to be a glorious day of silence from those of you who crave these things.
After the Fetches are finally reprinted, we get to start the lovely process all over again with people hounding for Shocklands.
Reprinting fetchlands in Khans has it's pros and KHANS (HAHAHA ON MY GOD). Seriously though, let's go over some things.
PROS:
Fetchlands! This creates a large selling point for the set. People will jump all over this set like a fat kid on a cupcake. Also, with shocks rotating out of standard, this makes it so our mana fixing is in the enemy painlands, scrylands, and fetchlands. There's room there for three-color decks, but the mana base is going to absolutely wreck you. I also feel that introducing painlands to newer players teaches them to respect what shocklands do for them. God forbid if we ever get into another Jund standard, where it's turn 2 Farseek into a turn 3 Huntmaster.
There are more fetchlands to go around. That's right. More fetches means more accessibility to them. They start to go down in value! Not by a ton, but enough for players to consider dishing out money for them. When you have more fetchlands available, you now have more players that will take an interest to Modern, since they don't have to drop $100 per Tarn/Rainforest. It's pretty sweet!
KHANS (OH GOD NOT AGAIN LOL):
Enemy colored fetches, enemy colored painlands? That means we're going for a wedge, right? Does this mean only wedge decks will exist? Probably not, but I do believe it would be VERY interesting to see that happen. If they reprint the ONS fetches in Khans, then Modern gets access to 5 more fetchlands, and I feel that's excessive. Excessive, but necessary. Another thing is that there are 5 fetchlands. That means 5 rare slots are eaten up by lands. I feel that this is a bad thing, but it needs to be done.
All in all, I think I just miss cracking open packs, and seeing that fetchland in the back. If Khans contains fetchlands, sign me up for a case.
This question is getting old, and while fetches are nice, they aren't a required part of a deck.

Hello. I don't know whether you are aware but "required" and "useful" are not the same things. For example knowing the difference between the two words is not required to post on the internet but sure it would have come in useful right here.

The quote is about something else. Maro explained this in much more details:
a) one of these two things is something they have never done
b) one of these two things is something, they had done a long time ago
So this is not about reprinting anything. Its about doing something or maybe a mechanic.
a - They'll make something that looks like banding that's going to be named differently or they might make horsemanship in a standard legal format.
b - they'll make tribal decks again? Or full art lands. Don't expect anything more.
And to the person saying that GTFO of modern if you're not playing fetches, you've obviously never played mono black, amulet of vigor, or elves. All viable and all can beat the top decks in different ways. Even R/G Tron doesn't use fetches, so stop feeding that BS. Or trying to get everyone to drink the koolaid you're serving.
they are required to fix the mana and so to enjoy a tricolor deck. maybe you were too busy checking difference between words instead of playing actual magic, but you can't make a tricolor deck without fetches that has the same manafixing of a deck with fetches. so yes, they are required to play optimal version of tricolor decks. if you don't want to play optimal versions, then it's your problem and not a matter of fetch power level.
"They are required to make a tricolor deck with the same mana fixing as a tricolor deck that has fetches." is still different from "They are required. Period."
If it's your personal preference that make fetchlands a necessity, then they are still not generally required.
