Thank you, Q, for clearing up some of my inconsistencies/mistakes/gloss-overs/rush-throughs. They stem from my being out of the game from Weatherlight to Zendikar then from Scars to Theros and trying to play catch up with the story since. You seem like you really know your stuff and I appreciate it.
I've thought for a while that Bolas has been manipulating events so that the MAJOR threats to him (and, sure, maybe the Multiverse) of Phyrexia and the Eldrazi will weaken one another to the point where he can claim advantage. Perhaps guiding the Eldrazi toward Phyrexia. The interplay between the two would be very interesting. Life draining organisms against artificial life forms. Does being compleat offer some sort of defense against the Eldrazi? Would the Eldrazi even find interest in New Phyrexia? Yes, there is mana, but Phyrexian mana is... different. Could the Eldrazi be corrupted by oil? So many ridiculous questions.
That's what else I love about these discussions: the disagreement. Some see Jace as sliding white, others black, for example.
P.S.: Pandora also wasn't knowing or willing (at least not knowingly willing) which is why I placed that modifier.
P.P.S.: Now, whenever I play Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas, I will think back to the Starscream reference and chuckle inwardly. Thanks!
C'mon leslak, Bolas is clearly an antagonist. Look at me!!! You can't trust Bolas. He doesn't even trust himself. This is a fella dragon that has a fallback plan to his fallback plan. The fact that you think he's good is because he lets you.
Tezzeret has been re-circuited, and mindscrewed with all of Bolas' schemes. He's more likely to go Grixis like his master than Esper. There's absolutely no shred of white in him. He lives for himself, he wishes to kill Bolas. He was bullied/manipulated his whole life. How can he have inner peace with all the trauma and misgivings. What more can I say; he seems like exacting vengeance.
Elspeth will forever be white. Jenna Helland created the Sun's Champion. Elspeth's her baby. If you wanna change her color, change Jenna.
Tibalt as Rakdos? Time to party! Feels like he could end up in Ravnica. Cool bros with the demon.
As for some people who thinks Ajani can't go red again, think again. The death of his brother triggered his inner rage. He's first and foremost a cat. The feral instincts will never go away. I foresee someone close to him die (that's why the Elspeth's death links) or something similar which will trigger that rage again.
There's tinge of darkness in Nissa; we knew that from her stint at Lorwyn. Ditto Garruk for his ties with Lilliana.
Just because Jace is the guildpact or have ties with Azorius does not mean he'll go white. Azorius are the go-to guild for governance, policy-enactmnets and administration. How hard is it to see that.
If bolas has any enemy today is cause he don' t wants to kill it or that he don't care or you realy think the old dragon couldn't mind reap and then kill any foe on sight ... Bolas fought on one of the first planeswalkers fights and won ( against the leviatan planeswalker)
Against tezzeret he created a clone to mess with hin. With ajani bolas was absoving the maelstrom and wasn't in that time more than a realy big dragon with some spellcasting( way above average)
If jace ,Ajani, Tezzeret, Jace's friend, Sarkhan, or any other walker/non walker is still alive is because he doesn't even care on going after them.
I think I'd be perfectly fine if Tibalt stayed away until we Return to Return to Ravnica in 2020.
So, I suppose what I am hearing is that, with the exception of Ajani and Garruk, the Lorwyn 5 (Liliana, Jace and Chandra) will pretty much stay mono colored? Elspeth will NOT see a color change either? I suppose time will tell.
The way I foresee things playing out (if Ajani is to regain his youthful red vigor) is that Elspeth dies/is trapped on Theros and Ajani goes full retard. Other than that, I could see a happily ever after (for now...) playing out with Elspeth and Ajani on Theros. Both are known on the plane and both want to stop fighting and read a book, just like Bolas.
Pyrexian eldrazi would be the most op scariest thing ever. Annihilate 2 whenever a player sacrifices a creature put it into play under your control. It becomes a horror in addition to its other types.

Empathogen, you got there first. I feel so... betrayed? (Wah wahhhh...) (Un?)Fortunately, Annihilator won't be making a comeback in a future Eldrazi-themed set. Ugh. The existence of a cross Eldrazi/Phyrexian battlecruiser set would cause me to nerdgasm for weeks on end and hemorrhage money until I live under a tent made of commons and whatever comes out when you nerdgasm. Fortunately for everyone in my vicinity that probably won't happen. But if it did...
I always wondered about It That Betrays, now that you bring it up. It seemed not so much out of place but aberrant to the rest of the broods. In addition to annihilating it resurrected/controlled the annihilated which, to my memory, was not replicated in another Eldrazi-type card in the set. Eldrazi consume and breed, not resurrect and control. Would an annihilator-type ability that controlled permanents be more or less OP than Annihilator? Obviously, a few kinks would have to be worked out.
Maybe we'll find out when Sorin gets his third color and returns to seal away the Eldrazi for another couple of thousand years. (With Koth and Bolas' help, of course, because EVERYBODY knows you need a geomancer and a dragon if you're going to be sealing away Eldrazi.)

I know this is a typo but i m prety sure that bolas don t want to help, sorin don t want to help , neither koth wants to help (now) .
Also i m prety sure the lithomancer was only necessary to create the hedrons and later as the other two to perform the rritual
And while It That Betrays is weird on the whole "Sac and return" thing they are very much a controlling species. The Vampires of Zendikar have those weird bits jutting out of them as a result of Eldrazi Conscription. It's a touchy subject.
Totally a joke. Although, if Bolas realized that he bit off more than he could chew with the Eldrazi (I'm assuming he learned of them as he supposedly killed Ugin), I could see him nominally cooperating for their re-imprisonment (I doubt outright destruction is possible at this point). I mentioned Koth because he is the only Lithomancer-type planeswalker in the story thus far.
I had forgotten about the vampires of Zendikar. However - please correct me if I'm wrong - wasn't their servitude more a feature of ancestral worship of false gods rather than knowing compliance in their arrival? In the end, it doesn't matter but I don't know that they were outright controlled. Plus, is It That Betrays part of Kozilek's lineage? I think that to replace Annihilator, we will see more of a split amongst the brood lineages in terms of abilities. Kozilek's may be a 'sac and return' type of thing.
In the Teeth of Akoum novel, the history of the Zendikar vampires is brought up by numerous members of that particular group, and simply put, all those little black things sticking out of the vampires are collars. The Eldrazi hooked various limbs or whatever into them, and used them like puppets.
I said it's a touchy subject because in the novel, the few times it's brought up lead to a near-death experience.
It can also be seen as such on Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief.
Yeah, the Zendikar novel(s?) is something I have not been able to read yet (I really only shop at a small local store for my books) but I'd love to since it's one of my favorite blocks. I'm surprised you didn't link Near-Death Experience.
There is a HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE diference between saying : " planeswalkers will move to 3 color in general" to " We plan to do more 3 colored walkers in the future"....

OHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! I get where your misunderstanding was! You thought I meant ALL planeswalkers WILL be multicolored. Nope. Did not mean that. Just a hypothetical if/then statement.
And as for Bolas v. Sorin or Karn I think that of course Bolas prefers working through agents and schemes and plots and what have you but if he were cornered I think he would have a contingency trick up his sleeve. He is all about deception...

Yeah the title and first post are kind of missleading.
Would it be possible for Sarkhan to dip into white as a WBR walker?
We know that his homeland has no "living" dragons, but MaRo makes it sound as if we will most certainly see dragons in the new block. I am curious if W brings a sense of organization and order to the tribes the Warlords lead and Sarkhan harnesses W's power to perhaps resurrect dragons.
I understand that he is a BRG Walker, but something about warlords and dragons tells me G is not really a factor with him in the upcoming block and as far as we know B is still tying him to Bolas.
If we can expect Ramaz any time soon, I think it is fair to say that we very well may be looking at the other 5 wedges which would also support a possibly WBR Sarkhan.
I believe at one point in his story Sarkhan ruled a tribe as a warlord but gave it up in his quest for dragons. I don't see any reason why - if the story provided for it as you mentioned - he couldn't be a bit white. It would make for an interesting introduction into wedge-type cards. In addition, the art released for the Tarkir preview has a very black/red/white feel to it. It's probably safe to assume he doesn't have Bolas' best interests in heart anymore and that he has surpassed his madness. Nice catch, Kamahl.

Idk.
Eh, I have my doubts. For one, any colors could unite people for a cause, not just W. If Sarkhan vies to unite the wartribes for purely selfish reasons (AKA, he wants to rule all of Tarkir), then the W isn't all that justified. Sure, in the end uniting the Khans could stop the turmoils of the plane, but motive is more defining to MTG characters than results.
I, for one am hoping for a heroic BR Sarkhan. W heroes are a dime a dozen while BR heroes aren't. Heck, I can't think of one myself.
The ideals of a hero don't really jive well with black's slice of the color-pie. We could have an anti-hero, no problem. Someone who, through realizing her own very selfish goals, manages to enhance the greater good is about as good a "hero" as R/B will get.
