The Modern format was created due to a desire by players for a non-rotating format without a bunch of older (and broken) cards. It's bounded by a pretty arbitrary criteria, (the 8ED/MRD 'modern' card frame) but nonetheless, that criteria seems to have caught on. The modern card frame represents about 10 years of magic cards, while the original frame was another 10 years prior. This new frame hasn't appeared yet, and it'll be a few years before the format it hypothetically creates will be any different than the Standard it originates with, but I see a potential for a new format. Let's call it 'M15 Eternal' for lack of a better term.
M15 Eternal card pool: all cards that have been standard legal beginning with M15
What does everyone think? Would you or others play such a format? Do you hate new and strange formats with a passion? Would you like to be able to get in on a potential mainstay format at its inception? Is an 'eternal' format with fewer broken cards appealing to you? Have an idea for what it might be called? Do you think it's too early to speculate on? Discuss!
I think it's pretty certainly will be a format at some point, but I think we're talking at least 7-10 years after M15 is released, or it would cannibalize too much on Standard and Modern.
Why not "Post-Modern"?

The changes to the frame come M15 are minimal compared to the previous change. And there isn't a reason to make another non rotating formant since modern isn't hindered by the reserve list, the big reason for its creation.
'Post-modern/M15 Eternal' would just be a pointless rehash of Modern. Why create a new format just because the card frame changed a little when the third non-rotating format allows those card to be legal and has no limit on reprinting cards from within it?
And do you want to be a hipster? Why? "oh I got into post modern before it was a thing." I can say that for modern now but the only thing it would do is make me sound like an egotistical twit.

Way way too early to speculate on.
If we start getting some reprints from many sets in the M15 card frame, then you can start speculating...in a few blocks. Years.
One single coreset and block will not a new format make. That doesn't even make much of a Standard.

It's perfectly possible that as 7-10 more blocks enter the Modern card pool, the format might get very fast as the card pool grows. The new frame is such an easily identifiable separation line that players might decide to play Post-Modern on their own, and if it becomes popular and widely adopted, Wizards might follow up by sanctioning the format after a while like they've done with other formats.
And why are you so hostile? OP did some baseless speculation on something in the Baseless Speculation forum, and you had to go and accuse him of being a hipster and likening what he did to being an "egotistical twit". You know who most often accuses other people of being hipsters? I'll let you figure that one out for yourself. Also, you pointed out that you got into modern before it was a thing, and at the same time stated that you'd never say something like that. Yeah, cool story.

Gross.
Have you seen how much card prices have soared since they introduced the newest major format (Modern)?
Also, I would hate for such a thing to influence what cards they reprint.
We'll never see Natural Order, Reanimate, or Intuition in Standard again-
Modern 2.0 would probably be devoid of Fetchlands and anything else that's powerful in Modern.

I like it! We'll start that right after M15 is released.
M15 Block decks might be boring, but a new twist on building decks. It seems like a perfect, budget, long-term way to get newer players into thinking LONG TERM. In 5-6 years, 'post modern' might be a thing.
Edit; OP it's not TOO early to start thinking of this. This is the perfect time. Man, what I wouldn't give to go back in time and start from 1993 again. Collect the cards forever. I'm going to do this with a group of my buddies and if people complain about 'high card prices', just tell them to join the 'Post Modern' movement.
No offense to the OP, but just this makes no sense. The whole point of Modern is to have a non-rotating format without the Reserve List. The addition of Modern 2.0 will just create a massive split in the playerbase. People will not be playing Legacy, Modern, and Modern 2.0 simultaneously. For some, that may be the case. But for most, that will not.
Gross.

It would have fetchlands, since they are getting reprinted at some point and that will be with the new border.
I wouldn't play it, simply because Wizards seems to not want efficient counterspells or library manipulation to exist anymore.
I highly doubt that there shall be another new format; this game already has enough formats as it currently is, so there is no need to introduce another format.
