Magic 2013 is quite possibly my favorite core set ever, because of its numerous awesome reprints and the fact that it contained both legendary permanents and multicolored (it contained only one multicolored card, but the mere fact that it had any multicolored cards has opened the possibility of further printings of multicolored cards in future core sets, similar to how Tenth Edition was the first core set to feature legendary permanents, thus making it possible for such cards to be in Magic 2013).
Therefore, I wish to begin speculation on the possibility of legendary permanents and/or multicolored cards in the next core set, or other future core sets. What cards may WotC print in the next core set? There are numerous legendary creatures who I wish to see reprinted (such as the dragons from Invasion, most notably Dromar, the Banisher; Sol'Kanar the Swamp King; Tsabo Tavoc; or Cromat), but I also would like to see completely new legendary creatures from either Mirrodin or Kamigawa. Since WotC revisited Mirrodin only recently, they are not likely to print another full block focused on that plane in the near future, but since both Mirrodin blocks were popular, from my own observations, a new character from that plane would be a very nice gesture, and since the Kamigawa block is apparently unpopular with many players, having a new character from that plane would be an excellent way to continue acknowledging its existence without having a full block to revisit it (which is what WotC did with Tamiyo in Avacyn Restored). As for multicolored cards, there are many that I wish to see reprinted (most notably absorb and backlash), and there is also vast unxplroed potential for new multicolored cards in future core sets.
What does everyone else have to say on this subject? What possibility do you believe there is for either legendary permanents or multicolored cards in a future core set? I await your responses.
inb4 "OMG NOES multicolor is too difficult for new players!!!"
i agree with you core set need to be less boring imo
You're confusing too difficult and outside of core values of the game. Rules are made to be broken, but you can't break them for the sake of breaking them, there must be a very good reason to do so.
I forgot to mention above that I also would like to see the five legendary dragons and the five Myojin from the Kamigawa block reprinted, as I believe that they are also worthy of being reprinted.

Now that WotC has officially announced Magic 2014, the next core set, I wish to revive this thread to discuss this subject.
What about low-complexity multicolored cards in the next core set? Such cards as mortify, putrefy, and terminate are very straightforward for introducing newer players to multicolored cards, which is the purpose of core sets.

Excuse me, but Kamigawa is less unpopular day by day. There are good cards in there, some mechanics are unusable (arcane to name one) and some have some development space and could even be improved.
And if Wizard of the Coast made a revisit of Kamigawa, it would be different to what it was. I'm basing myself on the books story and it lets me believe that arcane could really make the jump to never seeing light again and being replaced by something else completely.

Casual crazy magic player, otaku maniac, unrully cosplayer, what did you expect me to be?
2013 had the psuedo-mutlicolor uncommon creatures that pumped with an allied basic land and we have our UBR planeswalker friend.
I feel that a small amount of multicolor is fine in core sets. It probably shouldn't be at common though.

Pretty much this. I can see an allied-color rare cycle and no more.
One thing, I have always been disappointed with was the introduction of legendary creatures mixed with the new card concept of the M"X" coreset. Now the concept I have been remiss about and continue to hope to see is the return of legendary creatures, that never got an original card.
The flavor aid in bringing back cards they missed with the set while not having to devote an entire block, or really needing a large excuse is something I was hoping for. Point in case I have used as an example is Gix. Gix in the story was a general and commander in Phyrexia and showed up in a wide arrange of cards and and flavor text, but was never given a card.
Now with the death of Gix ages ago there is no reason to really bring him back into the story, and baring some form of screwed up Timesprial madness we'll never see a Gix card printed. That being the case the Core set could prove like a useful area to touch on flavor of the past while introducing new legendary creatures, which they are not afraid to do showing M13.
That all being said, this would take an odd shift in the mind set of the core set and point a game in a backwards looking direction as opposed to looking to the future, but I believe that there are enough Legendary figures in lore that it wouldn't be a waste, just a far fetched plan to begin with.
I think there is absolutely a time for multicolor in a coreset, and now makes as much sense as ever with RtR in standard. Keep the cards simple (Blightning, Watchwolf, etc), and keep it to 10-16 cards at uncommon/rare/mythic. It'd be a great way to spice up the 20th Anniversary Set, integrate the set with block, and have some extra room to find reprint options if they want to do the "one never-reprinted card from each set" trick they did for 8th Edition.

IMO multicolour should appear at common on simple cards like French Vanilla (or even vanilla) creatures. With super-basic reminder text ('This card is both red and green even when not on the battlefield').
Ideally ten commons - arranged on the print sheets to guarantee exactly one per pack - and a small number of higher rarity cards that do not have the reminder text.

Yes, that would be very awesome, indeed, and an excellent way to introduce multicolored cards to new players who are new to the game.

I disagree with that; no player can be so unintelligent as to need reminder text that a multicolored card is all of its colors at all times, and printing such reminder text would be a waste of ink, as well, in my mind.

I think it'd be extra cool to have the multicolor cards be ones that emphasize the alliance of colors---Shivan Wurm, etc.
I was surprised at Nicol Bolas though; you don't see three color cards in regular sets very often, nevermind the core set (and with such funky mana costs-4UBBR?). So like Sundial of the Infinite, the truth is we could really see anything complexity-wise with multi. If people could handle Bolas...

that's not what happened at all. kamahl stabbed phage, akroma, and some old lady and they became korona. then korona got stabbed by her "prophets" and kamahl got drunk with a mutant centaur
With the announcement that the next set is named Theros, a Greek word, I wonder if Magic 2014 shall have a legendary creature from that plane, similar to how Krenko and Yeva, inhabitants of Ravnica, were pritned in Magic 2013? Does anyone here believe that that may be possible?

Legends are basically a given. As far as Multicolor goes, normally I'd say yes, but we just had a multicolor block. Bolas will probably be back, but beyond that, I'd imagine we wont see anything. We certainly wont see things like Blightning.

There's gotta be something that'll link M14 to Theros within the set like M13 did for RTR. While it may not be multi-color, I DO think it'll have something to either do with enchantments or legendaries.
In the same way you can tell someone is from the XVIII century because he is arroused by ankles, you can tell someone is from USA because he feels nipples disturbing.

Bolas has been printed many times, now, so I would hope that he is omitted from Magic 2014 in favor of another planeswalker who has not yet appeared in a core set.
