Simic join the Golgari?

  • #1
In the flavor text of Mystic Genesis, an orzhov person (Teysa Karlov) says something along the lines of "the simic can grow anything out of a puddle of sludge. I just hope they never join forces with the golgari."
    Maybe in dragons maze?

'Twas a simple flavor line implying how powerful they already are. the problem is that while they have similar feelings towards growth, their ways of going about it are verrrrrrrrry different

also in this article where it lists simic's attitude towards other guilds, it says "If they [The Golgari] need allies, we would be their closest" and a bunch of bad things about them. But maybe they'll join up. I'd like to see my two favorite guilds together Grin

Who knows. Maybe in DGM we see some guild alliances form? I doubt it pretty heavily, but it'd be an interesting element both gameplay and storywise. A lot of wedge players would be happy if certain guilds joined.
    Zedruu is my homie.

As prompted by certain threads on the forums, I'm now certain that the planeswalkers in DGM will be.... Ral Zarek, Morsel of the Firemind.

I also found that flavor text compelling. Considering mostly flavor I tried to make a list of possible combinations (only one pair per guild). I had written up quite a bit which I lost due to iPad reloading, so here the short version:

Golgari + Simic: make ooze out the dead and then form grotesque monsters. Creatures evolve on the field and then they evolve their friends from the grave (scavenge).

Boros + Azorius: (divine justice) detain your enemies while you build an army then crush them (battalion)

Dimir + Ohrzov: Extort enemies with ciphered spells.

Selesnya + Gruul: (Natural life) Populate with animals, send them into battle with bloodlust.

Rakdos + Izzet: (this one is a stretch I guess) Niv Mizzet recognizes the power of Rakdos (they did kill nephillim) they join forces. someone smarter than me should tell me how their abilities can work together.

I guess it's also possible for other combos to occur (as in more than one for each guild) or none.

Mostly agree but a few changes
    Simic+Golgari has perfect flavor
Dimir+Orzhov is also good, as they are quite similar
Boros+Selesnya makes more sense because they both like to have a lot of creatures out
Rakdos+Gruul is better imo because they are both chaotic, merciless, and aggressive
Izzet+Azorius as they are both controlling
    yeah?
