I was thinking about this today, and with all the spirits in Midnight Hunt/Crimson Vow I would expect there to be some spirit emphasis or support in Neon Dynasty. I mean it was a huge focal point in the original Kamigawa block. Surely there'll be references to spirits in the "modern" age of the plane.

That was likely planned in order to have cross set synergy for standard.

Why isn't Kaya a good example? It's a very recent card, so it's a completely legit example that makes it a precedent of the game. Maybe it's just a new tool they could use very rarely in the right context.
EDIT: Now that I think of, there are actually more examples and precedents. Ashiok, Nightmare Muse ultimate cast any cards from opponents exile and not just the ones he exiles. Oblivion Sower let you play any land an opponent got already in exile. Coax from the Blind Eternities let you tutor in hand any Eldrazi was already in exile for any reason. Same with Karn, the Great Creator with artifacts. So yeah, it's DEFINITELY a possibility that Gitaxias could also cast cards from exile, it's a thing already break it many times lol.

While there are many cards that can let you cast from exile, power level is another consideration here.
While Karen could technically use Gonti’s heart to go infinite, that seems to be a vanishingly rare occurrence.
If kaya’s ability was not the ultimate of a planeswalker, however, casting Alrund’s Epiphany each and every turn would be a bit absurd.
I don’t think that a card that lets you repeatedly cast extra turn cards on a loop without jumping through a hoop of similar size (and mana cost is simply not a hoop with a piper effect in standard) is likely to see play, even if it relies on your opponent’s cards. Even in the most innocent circumstances, the ability to spam a single kill/draw spell in your opponent’s graveyard ad nauseum does not make for good play lines.

I believe that mana cost and other tools are there exactly to fix these problems (countercards that hate efficently the card, a fast standard environment that would make Gitaxias too much slow for the competitive etc). Also, WotC print cards that casually go infinite with other cards in larger formats all the time (MaRo multiple times stated in his blog that older formats can't take hostage of new cards design), so it isn't really a good argument to prove a point.
Also, many playtest cards from the Mistery Booster set already proved to be foreshadowing of real blackborder cards and mechanics.£Who knows, maybe Yawgmoth's Testament will add to the list.

Also, we're currently in a standard envinroment where we got a strictly better version of Doubling Season regarding the planeswalkers ultimates.
(and mana cost is simply not a hoop with a piper effect in standard)
To be fair Emrakul, the Aeons Thorns was in the same standard environment with Quicksilver Amulet for a period and didn't did much (and I believe Emrakul to be much, much more game ender in much more games and board states than my Gitaxias take)
They haven't shown the symbol yet but after looking at the Fandom page for this set I think it's what's on Mochi here...Unless I'm wrong and it means something else.

Not only it instantly confirms samurais (which is no brainer when it was first announced)
this could potentially be a sign they not over killing the cyberpunk aspect of this plane. The only thing cyberpunk about the samurai is the lights in his shoulder pads and helmet heck the sword is just a regular old katana.

I imagine spirits will be slotted into Green and Black this time around, with some minor ones in the other colors. With Kamigawa becoming a cyberpunk world I imagine spirits are more of a life and death, natural/unnatural thing.
and The part you could potentially for excited to next to instanious turn off because a vast majorly of you refuse Modern stuff in mtg and that’s motorcycles are some of the vechiles in kamigawa.
Just a quick thing, I don't object to modern stuff in Magic. If the Izzet or Kaladesh residents have a computer or a car it doesn't bother me a bit. But setting is important. I don't want lasers and motorcycles and computers on Kamigawa for the same reason I don't want them on Theros, Kaldheim, Innistrad, probably a couple others. Take away Kamigawa feeling old and like the stories passed down for hundreds of years and it ceases to be Kamigawa. Technology has a place in Magic for sure, but not on a plane where doing just that pretty much kills the flavor of the original block. it goes from 'clearly Kamigawa' to 'Asian themed generic sci-fi world'

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
I expect either a red artifact (that triggers once per round) or a red spell that references kiki-jiki
I expect that moon folk will not all be based around bouncing lands, though it will appear on at least one.
I expect 1 black ogre rare that rewards playing demons and 1-2 drawback cards for limited calling back to the old ogre-demon link.
I expect a legendary-related mechanic (perhaps the return of historic if it is not being reserved for the last two sets of the year).
I expect a cycle of rare and uncommon legends for each color and 2-color combo (if not more).
I expect Jin-Gitaxias, reality hacker (that one name came with a bunch of other leaks that turned out to be legit and this seems like the right place).
Possible
Possible
New Hidetsugu is both an ogre and a demon, but no tribal relevance yet.
There will be a legendary theme, so possible. (The way MaRo described it though makes me think it won't be quite as a big of a thing as last time)
Also possible
Possible
I would be surprised is we didnt see:
Multicolor ninja commander
Multicolor Samurai commander
A Proper brothers yamazaki for commander
"Legendary matters" payoff card
A new cycle of zubera
a 'Fixed' umezawa's jitte
Kaito is probably a good sign.
Samurai were left a question mark but based on the poster they're very likely in.
Possible
There will be at least some. If leaks are indeed true as they seem, we have Takenuma already.
Possible
Possible
Kaito (the ninja PW featured on Showcase 2022 Day) will be 3 mana and UB
The Wanderer will be in the set, her true identity will be revealed, and she will be W or RW
Tamiyo, to everyone's surprise, will NOT be in the set, and people will be (justifiably) mad
Some kind of Umezawa descendant, and some kind of reference to Kyodai/Michiko, if not an outright card
Ninjutsu will return, as will Bushido, but Bushido will be renamed
Heavy legendary matters theme, and rare legends in each colour pair (like MID/VOW) with UB and RW Ninja/Samurai tribal legends
Spirits get a bit of a shoutout, likely somewhere in GW or WB, but they aren't a major focus (and no Spiritcraft)
That's definitely Boseju in the released key art, and there will be a new Boseju card
NO Sagas-these will be back in Dominaria United, with Historic
Artifact theme of a density somewhere between Throne of Eldraine and Kaladesh; most of the set's art will recall a 'night-time Kaladesh'
Confirmed.
Confirmed Wanderer is here, reveal of true identity and colour to be seen.
Possible
Possible
Mark confirmed there will be returning mechanics, so definitely possible.
Partly confirmed. There will be a legends theme and more legends than usual but we don't know if it will be quite 'heavy' or not yet nor what cycles there will be.
Spirits are definitely in the set, and based on the Tradition vs Modernity theme and the story and art bits, it sounds like they likely will be more of a presence than predicted here.
Confirmed. The first look article includes named art which confirms there will be a card called 'Boseiju, Who Endures'.
Possible
Possible
For me
sisters of flesh and spirit and Hidetsugu melded with All-consuming oni of chaos will be getting a card
mechanic based on hacking
maybe the return of energy counters
Fractal creatures will make a appearance (hint is the new walkers pet fox since it highly resemables a fractal)
the iconic spirit dragons will be back as a cycle again but with different death triggers this time
the Second phyrexian praetor (from rumor)
the Emperor might be Sakashima or it will be tezzert or jin gitaxia pulling a bolas like he did on amonkhet
shrines and Ninja tribal and samurai tribal and spirit tribal is almost guaranteed
The commander decks will be tribal
spirit tribal we will get new spirit cards from neon dynasty and old kamigawa in the commander deck (if one is a deck ofcoarse)
The special frame will be tron or pixel like
And ofcoarse we get one very powerful card from the original block as a reprint (it will not be the top nor Umezawa's Jitte.)
We have seen one half as an individual card, leaving the fate of the fusion uncertain. Hidetsugu and all consuming oni have indeed got a card.
Possible
Possible
Possible
Confirmed. Except these ones have different names taking the previous ones place.

Possible (though the names aren't particularly fitting for this)

The Soft Glow frame definitely fits. Arguably the Ninja frame?
Possible
The planeswalkers will be Keito, Tamiyo, and Ajani. I'm not sure on the third slot, but he seems like the most likely, given his connection to Tamiyo's story circle and his lack of appearance in premiere sets since Aether Revolt (and War of the Spark). My second choice would be Narset (for the first of those reasons), but I'm not sure. I also suspect that they might call back to the flip cards from original Kamigawa with some TDFCs.
The Wanderer's inclusion means unless there are four planeswalker cards or the Wanderer does not get a card (which seems very unlikely given the prominent early feature), we will not be seeing cards for both Tamiyo and Ajani, or Narset. Could still show up in the story though.
The final main VOW story piece on the mothership had Teferi pointedly mentioning Phyrexians (I assume Kaya described her encounter with Vorinclex to him, but that happened "off camera"). So I do think we are getting another one. And if the original praetors and the Kaldheim Vorinclex are precedent, it will be something that either doubles or provides a large benefit for you and either halves or provides a mirror-disadvantage for opponents. I hope it isn't something that is completely miserable to play against, but that seems to be the goal for most of the Praetors.
Even though original Kamigawa was divisive at best, I'm sure they are going to try to keep or revamp some of the mechanics and themes from it. Legendary-matters is a big one, but since Dominaria is also getting a set in 2022 I'm not sure. Maybe Kamigawa will stick to just legendary creatures/artifacts while Dominaria United goes with historic which is a little broader and less focused.
I think the big question is how large of a role spirits will play. On the one hand, spirits v. humans was like the main thing of Kamigawa. On the other hand, Kamigawa was unpopular and this set seems set in a distant future with a new vibe that is less spirit-friendly. I still think they will have a role to play however, maybe unlocking or bringing back spirits will be key to saving the plane or defeating a big bad.
This has already been said above, but a less-parasitic take on splice would be cool and Modern Horizons already showed this was possible with Splicer's Skill. Splicing doesn't feel particularly "classic Kamigawa" to me, but the name/concept does have a cyber/futuristic vibe which could fit very will in this world. Plus, it sound like something Phyrexians like to do if Gin turns out to be checking things out here.
Possible
Mostly confirmed. There will be half traditional Kamigawa and half futuristic according to Mark Rosewater. There will be returning mechanics (if the leaks are true, including Channel). Legendary matters will be a theme.
Partly denied. Seems spirits are currently running around the plane quite happily, and the two worlds have become closer together. However, this may also provide a plot point.
Possible.
Some speculation of my own- Boseiju, Who Endures will be a part of a cycle of legendary channel lands alongside Takenuma, Abandoned Mire and the other land from the first look article- Eiganjo, Seat of the Empire. Boseiju will be green and Eiganjo will be white, or if not, blue.
Someone said above the potential for there to be fractals. I personally felt it looked like a spirit animal that Vivien would have around her, but after that fractal suggestion that would be awesome to see Arcavios tied in to Kamigawa in some way or another.
After seeing Kaito, I exoect Phasing to be a more abundant thing as opposed to blinking in this set. It feels very futuristic as well, and fits with Ninjas to a certain degree.
I am excited to see some new weird Spirit art! Hopefully I can get a Black/Green spirit card that does something similar to soulshift as a throwback to one of my first decks.

They use phasing now as way to blink stuff without the perament reseting. Kaito phasing out means he keeps the same number of loyalty counters he had when he phased out or how in Midnight Hunt Creeping Inn used phasing so it won't reset back to Hostile Hostel. So while possible they rather use blink unless this set has a lot of counter or similar stuff.
