I know there is a thread already created for Commander 2019 Speculation, but I wanted to break away from random speculation and try to actually pin down some themes for the upcoming decks. I think there is a lot to be learned from what WotC shows us. WotC is notorious for foreshadowing what the deck themes may be by planting cards in Standard sets that add to an archetype for a Commander deck release. Additionally, I think a lot can be learned from knowing what Characters from Magic's past people love that have not received proper attention yet. Using these two tools alongside knowing that there will be four decks, most likely with somewhat equal color distribution, we can hammer out some really accurate speculation on what Commander 2019 might have in store for us.
If anyone would like to take a stab at it, feel free. I haven't had time to investigate our recent "Plant" cards in sets, nor gone over all the characters we have set to see from Magic's past.
I can't say much about C19 yet, but in hindsight it was pretty obvious that C18 foreshadowed the Planeswalker theme of WAR.
So let's look at what we've got in the sets between then and now that might influence C19. We've gotten a surprising amount of tribal tools scattered throughout the sets, with the most recent being in MH1. So, it is quite possible that we have a tribal theme coming (which despite being relatively recent is not a bad thing if the tribes are different from last time). We've also been getting a higher than usual number of token related cards. The intersection of the two seems to be Zombies, so, just speculating here of course, we might be getting a zombie deck.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
They have not been shy about giving us throwback characters. WAR gave us a number of random, smaller walkers featured in various stories (and from smaller sets), and MH1 had lots of early characters. Last year we got Varchild, Xantcha, and Tawnos, so...I'm hoping for more relics alongside our new characters.
5C Slivers isn’t out of the question and would lower some prices. Also, Slivers are very attractive to players new to Commander and new players in general.
Squirrels aren’t unlikely. It’s one of the most beloved tribes of all of Magic fandom. The only reason it hasn’t been supported until very recently is because some alpha nerd at WotC thought Squirrels aren't serious enough for Standard sets.
Probably a Snow deck, which would be cool.
And a colorless deck possibly featuring Constructs and Modular.

I like the idea of a Sliver deck, but I think it has a lot of issues that hold it back. First and foremost is the old Sliver rule text that benefits all slivers on the board. To me, this is a huge problem, especially if they make them readily available in a PreCon. Imagine a bunch of players sitting down and 3/4 of them are playing Slivers. To me, it sounds like a complicated game from the start. As much as I would love to see it happen, I think it's a little far out.
The same goes for squirrels... Do they have enough support to be their own thing?

They probably wouldn’t use the Slivers with the old wording. There is not enough Squirrel support, but they could flesh it out with new stuff in the deck.
I think we have a better chance with bears, elephants, or rhinos than with squirrels. They gave us cats and snakes as Gx decks in the past, though, along with some neat legends to support them, so who knows.

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. As neither of those were planeswalkers, doubtful. There are six planeswalkers associated with Ulgrotha, only two are natives. Feroz, Ravi, Serra, and Taysir are all from other planes, the only one of them whose home plane we know is Taysir who is from Rabiah. The two native planeswalkers are Sandruu and Daria. Sandruu has never been mentioned on cards and would be a lore deep dive (He's an Anaba Minotaur whom Taysir banished "for over a thousand years" after defeating him because they both competed for the love of the same woman). It never makes a lick of sense to me when people speculate random tribes for Commander products.
That said, wolves have been one of the really obvious plants for upcoming tribal support. IF Kaldheim is truly the long rumored location of our next standard set after Core 2020 however, I'd actually guess the support would go there, given how the wolf would be a nordic theme WotC likely calls upon (whilst also being distinct from Werewolves for Innistrad).
The cycle lands from Amonkhet along with BFZ blocks return to landfall did somewhat hint at Lord Windgrace last year, along with Kaladesh as a whole providing huge support AND a theme for Saheeli's deck.

Well, here's another interesting tidbit that precludes the two from becoming planeswalkers. The Autumn Willow is the avatar of the Willow Woods, sort of like Multani is for Yavimaya. Her daughter, by extension is similar to Muldrotha. They are the Ulgrothian equivalent of Maro-Sorcerers, and as such are bound to the plane. They are human looking, but they are not human. Much like Titania of Argoth.

He didn't do Shenanigans to her, she did that to herself. If he hadn't found her, she'd still be trapped in the Obelisk. On the other hand, we could get a version of her after she got her memory of being a planeswalker back. If that happened, which we don't know. Heck, I'd love it if we got new versions of the Baron and family, and the immortal Eron.

I suppose I could hope for Greensleeves. Garth One-Eye would be a fun surprise too.
Greensleeves would be awkward, she isn't a planeswalker… but she also is... and she summons creatures but doesn't control them...
How would you even begin to do that? Garth is NOT a walker, but his power level is higher than neo-walkers and he uses all 5 colors... such odd characters to try to make cards from.

Guys, be a bit more reasonable. Jherana never made it into flavor text. Greensleeves was on one card.
Someone like Disa the Restless would make much more sense. She appeared on a number of cards during Ice Age block and could prove well-themed for a snow deck.

Oh, dang, I searched copying someone else’s spelling. My bad. Still, being on three cards (from that set) feels wildly unlikely.
Enough people have asked MaRo for her that she is on the list of characters they want to give a card in Auxiliary sets. So it's just a matter of time. Besides, they gave a card to a character who was only mentioned on one card, Brudiclad, so the number of cards they're mentioned on isn't an indicator on how likely it is that they will get a card.

My foreshadow might be gix as one of the legends from yawgmoth and we all figured him or yawgmoth or both would be in horizons
Also something to note in core 2020 all three Chandra’s seem to have a elemental tribal theme going on if the set has some elemental tribe sub-theme maybe a elemental sub-theme in temur or something for C19
i would like to see new Ashling, the Extinguisher/Ashling the Pilgrim card. I was thinking that maybe they could even make a doublefaced card or two this year (i don't fully understand how the printing sheets works and are made but Legion's Landing in the challenger decks kinda makes me wonder if it would be possible to make some dfcs for commander decks). If they did something with her, maybe bend her colors to RG on front side and BR on the back side and make her deal with elementals. We got alot of Lorwyn/Shadowmoor new art (for old cards) recently, would not be surprised if they make some legendaries of that plane this year, maybe we will get Jack the almight kithkin savior (xD) (but would be cool a bant(?) kithking voltron with some tribal suport imo)

If anything this demonstrates that the people developing the game and sideproducts can listen to calls and desire from the players and it sometimes keeps echoing for sometime before they do things.
I look things like Serra the benevolent as a result of the natural interest that the people that makes our cards got into this lore, and looking things like The Dark Barony, Barony Vampire, Elixir of Immortality and Kazarov, Sengir Pureblood (and other references to the baron and the homelands) makes me wonder if more homelands material is incomming, maybe in a standard set (without the gatewatch because it will be set into the past ) or in commander set and other masters and horizon sets.

We've both said it before: Jherana Rure. But aside from that, I'd take Tormod too. Hell why not give us Ashnod and Tormod at the same time for *****s and giggles. And Daria. And Kristina of the Woods. I mean...if Feldon and Tawnos got a card...
There's always Grandmother Sengir getting a planeswalker card depicting her as Ravi prior to the shenanigans the Baron did to her.

Elspeth and Jhoira rock my world.
And yes, Jehrana Rure deserves a card. She'd make the perfect tribal commander for a Mercenary deck.

How would you even begin to do that? Garth is NOT a walker, but his power level is higher than neo-walkers and he uses all 5 colors... such odd characters to try to make cards from.
Alternatively {UB} or {2B} in [mana] tags are (U/B) or (2/B)
T is :symtap: and T will give T in [mana] tags
Someone like Disa the Restless would make much more sense. She appeared on a number of cards during Ice Age block and could prove well-themed for a snow deck.

Jherana Rhure was on several cards flavor text in Fallen Empires. She was a mercenary who worked for the Ebon Hand.

Also something to note in core 2020 all three Chandra’s seem to have a elemental tribal theme going on if the set has some elemental tribe sub-theme maybe a elemental sub-theme in temur or something for C19
I don't think this is out of question, maro and the r&d generaly makes plants and references to stuff they know they want to make into cardboard. Exemple of this is Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa maro had talked about a desing of his cards that didn't made into timespiral in a article almost 2 years before commander 2016 got released

Yeah but please no Baron Sengir. No more vampires. No more toys for edgar Markov
