Well in 4 or 5 weeks we are gonna see how well they do with set
And maro did confirm the the “you know who” article we getting more characters from the list of legendary/walkers that don’t have a card yet and it’s not just serra
huh apparently this set ships in like five weeks? trying to imagine having enough money for this AND War of the Spark
casually it'd be fun to see the geothermal crevice cycle of lands reprinted plus I remember it being the basis for a weirdo balance deck, and people have been looking at restore balance again recently...
If they are doing lands among the reprints there are three cycles I would like to see.
The Mirage Fetchlands as an uncommon cycle (Bad River and friends).
The Tempest Painlands as an uncommon cycle (Pine Barrens and friends).
The Homelands tri-lands as a common cycle just to see peoples head explode (Castle Sengir and friends).
I could see the Invasion block lairs (Rith's Grove and friends) as a cycle of uncommon tri-lands, but I doubt it is going to happen.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
I'm going to guess the other is BR. Leshrac, perhaps?
I don't get why people keep saying that Leshrac is BR, every card associated with him in Monoblack and he has no red aligned personality traits. Now, Tevesh Szat on the other hand...
As for who the other planeswalker is, I can't help but hope for Taysir of Rabiah as the first five colored black-border walker, but I doubt that is the case.
I think that Geyadrone Dihada is a likely candidate, as is Ravidel.

I would rather see a functional reprint of Rith's Grove in standard instead of the typical tap lands. Even if they knock it down to just a dual land that requires a land bounce or sacrifice it. Either way, the Lair's would be nice in Modern and but really hope the Mirage lands make an appearance for pure budget reasons.
Today I was thinking how this set will age and what risks are present for future reprints in coming sets, because it's the first direct-to-Modern set. First, a set like this is likely to come once a year if it was received well (I have no doubt there are more in the pipeline). It is not priced like a Standard set from what we can tell, so any playable rare or mythic (new-to-Modern or new-to-game) should maintain a high value because the baseprice started high and was injected into a format it was not present in, so demand could bring all copies up in price. Second, the likelihood that a powerful direct-to-Modern card would then go back into a Standard set is low (except for Commons and Uncommons I guess) so EV of the set and playable cards would go up over time. Third, if there is a story to the set (to fill Lore gaps or tangents i.e. Raven Man) you can jump all around time and planes if you really wanted to reprint certain plane specific cards like fetchlands or pay homage to dead characters, oh hello Serra the Benevolent. The story element could be a huge success or flop, but it could temper people's expectations of reprints if say they were not on Zendikar.
@Krishnath: It might have something to do with the flames constantly circling his head and the red mark on his chest. I could have sworn Maro outright stated on Blogatog that he's BR, but so far my searches have yielded no result.

None of the cards that bear his name or are associated with him use red in any way, sometimes a visual thing is just that, visual.

@Krishnath: Well neither of the twocards that reference Marit Lage are black. Should Marit Lage have been UR? What about Dralnu's Crusade? Dralnu himself ended up being UB in Time Spiral (though I would argue that really wasn't a great representation of his character anyway). And Heartwarming Redemption is RW, yet Gideon was never officially RW. Just because none of the four cards that reference Leshrac are red doesn't mean the character isn't BR. Heck, Maro considers Ob Nixilis BR, but we have yet to see any red cards associated with him. And given Leshrac's appearance and demeanor, red is the easy second color.
At any rate, we know the second planeswalker is a new character.

You misconstrue my point. The point I am making is that there is absolutely nothing that shows Leshrac to be red-aligned other than a comic of dubious canonicity. None of the cards associated with him have shown any color other than black. As for the Marit Lage cards, we already know that mages associated with one color often are capable of casting spells of others, such as Nissa being capable of casting both blue and black spells. Not that it would matter for Marit Lage as is, because she isn't actually a spell caster to begin with, but an eldritch abomination on par with Cthulhu.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
White doesn't have a whole lot to add. I think Mother of Runes would be a little oppressive in Humans which is already a top-tier competitive deck and most really good white stuff in Legacy/Vintage is a clear color-pie break (Swords to Plowshares, Land Tax) or seems like something they wouldn't want in Modern (Cataclysm, Armageddon, Enlightened Tutor, Recruiter of the Guard) or has a multiplayer mechanic that rules it out here (Council's Judgment, Palace Jailer). As a result, I think most of white's stuff will be focused on fun stuff that people enjoy in Commander alongside some much-needed pauper reprints. Containment Priest will be the spiciest addition to Modern while Teferi's Protection will see some sideboard play and be rejoiced about for Commander players.
I think people need to prepare to be disappointed with blue in Modern Masters. I see all these people drooling over Brainstorm and Gush and Daze and Show and Tell and Force of Will and Stasis and I'm like...dream on, guys. I think the goal of this set is NOT to destroy Legacy but to reinvigorate Modern while still reprinting much-wanted cards for older formats. As a result, I think blue's big adds will be Flusterstorm as a "fun police" card and Counterspell to boost hard control decks. We'll see alongside that some cards that hit us right in the nostalgia and some much-needed Commander and Pauper reprints. As a minor note - don't laugh at my mention at Arctic Merfolk, as it seems surprisingly funny in a format with Aether Vial
I've changed my mind on how likely Toxic Deluge is but I could see reanimator being a thing they experiment with alongside some pauper love. Carrion Feeder would also be an exciting way to support both Zombies and Aristocrats.
I also really want Astral Slide in the set, but I think the fact it can hit ANY creature and hits off of ANY Cycle makes it too obnoxious in a format with cards that cycle for 0. I suspect we're more likely to see a "fixed" version that only hits your own dudes and/or has an activation cost.

I’m not saying some of the new cards will be in here that are enchantment removal that are black but we might see some
I'm curious to know the ratio of reprints to new cards. Before we go crazyballs on the reprints, we have to bear in mind two things:
They do not want Modern to become another Legacy. That means a lot of the staples played in Legacy may not ever be reprinted in Modern, to avoid the most degenerate combos and oppressive, unfun lockdowns. We need to look at what's currently in Modern to get an idea of what they might want to add, and might not want to add (do Modern Elves really need Priest of Titania?).
If Modern Horizons is a success, they will want to make more in the future. So, they don't want to absolutely splurge on the high-demand reprints for the first set.

A brand new batch of Slivers would get me to come out to FNM and/or MH drafts (something which I don’t do anymore), not to mention supporting the secondary market in buying foil singles for the brand new hive deck I’ll build, if they are in MH.

I think intimidate has a chance at returning as well in something like this sort of set.
WHITE:
Abolish (possibly at common?)
Battle Screech
Coalition Honor Guard
Containment Priest
Prismatic Strands
Shared Triumph
Soulcatcher
Soulcatchers' Aerie
Standard Bearer
Tireless Tribe
Teferi's Protection (probably at Mythic :()
Wing Shards

BLUE:
Accumulated Knowledge
Arctic Merfolk
Brain Freeze
Complicate
Control Magic
Counterspell
Fact or Fiction
Foil (still at common to curse the Pauper realms)
Flusterstorm
Propaganda
Rhystic Study
Withdraw
I think people need to prepare to be disappointed with blue in Modern Masters. BLACK:

Buried Alive
Necromancy
Innocent Blood
Oubliette
Pestilence
Snuff Out (I think we'll see a cycle of free spells but I also think this will replace Outbreak)
I've changed my mind on how likely Toxic Deluge is but I could see reanimator being a thing they experiment with alongside some pauper love. Carrion Feeder would also be an exciting way to support both Zombies and Aristocrats.
I do also think we'll see Slivers - probably 2-3 per color with a cycle of multicolored. I think we'll see a mix of new and old, but among the reprints will be Plated Sliver, Talon Sliver, Crypt Sliver, Toxin Sliver, Winged Sliver, Muscle Sliver, Heart Sliver, Crystalline Sliver.

It’s actually considered a prayer answered for rakdos players in edh for a reminder
Because enchantment removal For rakdos is so little
Colors and Color Pairs should have weaknesses. Not every color pair should be Golgari which can do everything but counter.
I mean in this case can White get some competitive creature and walker removal again.
