I hope this becomes a big speculative thread & i need your knowledge.
Im not well-versed with the story thats converging into Ravnica.
I just know Nicol Bolas is the baddy to fight & therefore has probably a place as 1 Planeswalker in Ravnica-Block. Ajani is still gathering allies ? Then he should make an appearance too in the final showdown. I hope, like in Sarkhans case, Selesnya will influence him & make him a great card.
For the rest: i have no clue . . . but i damn sure want a Niv Mizzet-Planeswalker-card d:D
Let your story-knowledge flow into this thread, guys & also your expextations & hope
Jace and Gideon will be coming back, for sure. Out of the Gatewatch, they have the closest ties to Ravnica. Vraska and Ral Zarek are natives of Ravnica who have already played a role in the story, and both have associations with Bolas, though Vraska will already have a card in Standard so she's less likely to get one while Ral is almost guaranteed to get one. Domri Rade is also a native of Ravnica, so he may play a role.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
At the start confirmed, 10 Walkers.
Team Bolas: Bolas, Tezzeret, Vrsaka, Ral Zarek, Liliana Vess
Gatewatch: Jace, Gideon, Chandra, Ajani, Teferi
I think the max is usually 5 walkers per set so not a lot of room especially for multiple cards.
Then you have Domri Rade who should be around, any new Bolas Agents (probably introduced in core set) and whatever team Ajani recruited (probably a mix of old characters and new cannon fodder).
In Guilds we'll get Gideon, Ral Zarek, and a new planeswalker who is *not* native to Zendikar.
In Rav Alliance we'll get Jace, Domri, and a white/black walker (Kaya?)
In the unnamed third set we'll get Bolas, Vraska, and Chandra. Vraska will betray Bolas at a crucial moment in an apparent dying moment of awesome allowing the guilds and the gatewatch to defeat the elder dragon. Maat'Selesnya will awaken.

My vote for the newbie of Set 1 is either Niv-Mizzet, or Azor.
Set 2, I see either Kaya getting a new version and allying with Orzhov, or Zombie Elspeth coming back and wrecking *****, although this plot twist probably needs a LOT more build up, likely an entire set itself.
Alternatively, I could see almost any of the old characters of importance to Ravnica getting a 'Walker card, assuming they weren't already confirmed somewhere as not carrying a Spark. Honorable mentions in this category are the aforementioned Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Daddy, Maat'Selesnya, and Borborygmos.
If this is Bolas' last hurrah for a while I could see him getting a card. If not though he seems like someone who could sit out getting a card, he just picked one up in Amonkhet after all. I'd personally rather see another tricolor card, there are a lot of combinations we haven't seen.
Ajani picking up allies means really any old Planeswalkers who haven't had a card in a bit could show up. Or really anyone with decent justification. Bolas could have minions too, which would work out roughly the same.
I'm hoping for a decent amount of new Planeswalkers. Or returns of people that aren't Gatewatch/Tezzeret/Vraska. Seems like a good set to include new stuff.
Don't see how you end the Bolas Arc without him getting a card. I think it will be in Set 3 but 3 Sets on Ravnica with a Planeswalker War and No card for the main Villian in his last fight for a few years at minimum? That would be shocking.
I wonder how many of Ajani's recruits will be cannon fodder.
I could see Bolas 4 being something boundary pushing, or totally new with regards to Walker design. 5 Abilities, reverse Origins transform (Walker into Creature) Gideon Style "Becomes a creature" or make him aggressively costed instead of 7+ CMC.
Nicol Bolas #4 2URB
Legendary Planeswalker - Bolas [M]
+2 Each player sacrifices a creature. Draw a card for each creature sacrificed this way.
+1 Destroy target non-Creature permanent. Nicol Bolas deals 3 damage to that permanents controller.
0 Nicol Bolas becomes a 7/7 Legendary Dragon creature with Flying, Trample, and Indestructible until end of turn. He cannot lose loyalty while a creature.
-12 You get an Emblem with "Whenever an opponent casts a spell, they lose life equal to that spells converted mana cost and you draw that many cards."
[[7]]
Eh, it's just more Bolas though. His designs never really interest me because they're about as subtle as a brick to the face. If they can manage to make this feel like the puppetmaster who has manipulated the plot so much that would be a bit better. But I'm already resigned to see him, I just hope not to.

Niv-Mizzet does not have a spark. If he did, it would have triggered a long, long time ago.

Pretty much same reason I didn't find the Jhoira has a spark stuff likely...you mean in 15,000 Years for Niv and 1,500 for Jhoira...nothing sparked them after all those life events, conflicts, etc. I find that hard to imagine.
Azor could get a card with one but I think that is more likely for EDH.

Some people just don't think things through. Same reason people think that Urza was a hero, he was not. He was nearly as bad as Yawgmoth. Key word being *nearly*.

Urza was a hero but he is a hero in the relative sense. He is a hero mostly because he is leading the charge against Yawgmoth who is far worse an option then he is. But yeah his record in isolation is hardly heroic. There is a reason his name is curse word for Druids. He was big on Natural Destruction and Exploitation. He treated Karn terribly. He was big on Eugenics, running Benalia as the Power behind the Throne. And was a big of fan of turning kids into an indoctrinated child army of spellcaster to go with his standard army of super soldiers straight out of Benalia. He is perhaps a classic example of GOOD IS NOT NICE.
Only thing I cant think is that if any set (or sets) are going to "violate" the color balance or max walkers rules it will be these three sets. With so many walkers present for this battle maybe almost everybody gets cards. Maybe they make the sets slightly bigger to account for the extra walker mythic spots or maybe they just will think people will be so stoked for lots of walkers that they wont mind them taking up 1/3 of the mythic slots??
Shocklands are at least 80% coming back. If they make a rare cycle that isnt as good as them people will riot.

Been a member here for over a dozen years. Playing since '95 just got lost in the twitch shuffle.
Well you got at least 10 walkers by my count and 10 guild leaders although its more 19 since Vraska is double counting. That is a lot of Mythic Slots accounted for as presumably autofills. And presumably you got Guild Champs as well so...

I'd imagine the Guild Champs get bumped down in rarity to Rare. I don't think two cycles of Ten Legendaries, along with a bunch of walkers, is going to fit very well. This is why I really don't expect all of the heroes and villains to get cards either, only important ones.
Don't forget that this is precisely the kind of event to attract Ugin's attention, so he might show up as well. He might be aware of the events on Ixalan through Jace, we can't discount the possibility that he used him as a remote probe now that we know that he sent him there on purpose. I don't think he would pass up a chance to end Bolas. Although Ugin is a bit problematic now that Karn is in the picture too, but Karn's interest doesn't lie on Ravnica so they won't compete for the same slot in the sets.

No, no he was not. He brought Tevesh Szat onto the Titans because he knew that the Doom of Fools would murder one of the other planeswalkers, giving Urza an excuse to kill Tevesh Szat to power up the powerstone bombs. When called out on this by Taysir, URZA STRAIGHT UP MURDERED TAYSIR IN COLD BLOOD. Oh, and then there is the whole thing with blowing up the continent of Argoth and conducting eugenics experiments in Benalia. Oh, and he straight up annihilated Serra's Realm rather than try and fix it (which, as an oldwalker, he could if he had wanted to). And then there is his little spat with his brother ending up as a war that wrecked Dominaria so hard it went into an Ice Age and allowed the Phyrexians back into the plane. And blowing up Tolaria, killing hundreds of students, was "a minor inconvenience", something he was called out on by both Barrin and Rayne called him out on, and which, in the long run, caused Teferi to phase out Shiv and Zhalfir and abandon Dominaria for a while when the invasion started, depriving the coalition of much needed resources. Oh, and he friggin JOINED Phyrexia during the invasion.
No, Urza was a villain, all the way through.

Dammit, I just said that not every character needs to be a planeswalker.
Also, they're not going to give Azor his spark back offscreen; they'll wait for a return to Ixalan. And they're especially not going to bring Elspeth back from the dead offscreen. Mark my words, WotC is going to dedicate a whole story arc to the heroes' quest to rescue Elspeth from the underworld.

My problem with Bolas is they hard to use specific mana cost and high CMC unlike Ugin.
Be a real shame if WOTC didn't make one strong Bolas that is playable.
