If they had a pirate themed/subthemed set, and didn't have a card named "Walk the Plank," there'd be mobs with pitchforks.
Doesn't make me any less excited about it, though!
Oh yes, I think R&D learned their lesson about making references to real-world tropes too obvious in Theros block, but making a creature destruction spell literally called Walk the Plank is an opportunity that they'd have been crazy to give up.
Based on the name and concept I'd guess it's something like Mob Justice where it destroys things with an attribute less than the number of creatures you control; or maybe it's a finally-official version of that old custom card chestnut that people usually call Drown (1B, Sorcery, Destroy target nonblue creature).

I designed a card called "Walking the Plank" for my own Pirate set. It's a black Aura with the following rules text:
Enchant creature
Enchanted creature can't block.
When enchanted creature attacks or becomes tapped, its controller sacrifices it.
Basically, a black take on Pacifism. We'll see if that's what they went for in Ixalan.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

There are some ship vehicles in Ixalan, right? So bonus points to anyone who manages to make a ship walk the plank. Will be tricky with the sorcery speed, though...
Well hey, it's a perfectly serviceable Limited card! The flavor is pretty right, although I guess it doesn't make much sense destroying, say, Fish or Octopuses. I guess they can walk this cedar plank... onto my grill...
Pirate: Arr, walk the plank, Kraken!
*Kraken solemly slithers forward on the plank, causing the whole ship to capsize*
Pirate: Arr, maybe this not be the best idea, yarr...

From its name, I would expect a WB discard or removal spell if we didn't know as much as we did.... ><
(I did it for Collaborative-Create-a-Booster game).

I was thinking something very similar to this,
or possibly a Pongify variant that creates a blue shark token.

Control needs more love.

That's solid info or just another guess?
UB
Return target creature to owners hand
If you control a 'Shark' creature destroy target creature instead
Might switch "Shark" for "Pirate" for better gameplay at the expense of flavor homerun...
So, who's ready to make some Dinosaurs Walk the Plank?
