I will sooooo love it if it turns out Gideon is 'evil'! Magic needs more white aligned villains, and everyone's expecting Liliana to be the one to wreak havoc, it'd be (for once as of late imo) some good neat storytelling
Also, it might mean the Gatewatch disbands?!

And of course, the usual round of Gatewatch hate rears its ugly face. No, they aren't disbanding. Wizards is not going to disband the new faces of their game. They're going to stay a team, they are going to survive Amonkhet (even if they unfortunately don't defeat Bolas), and they are not going to turn out to be bad guys. Honestly, the nearsighted hatewanking I see around here disgusts me. Wizards is doing a hell of a lot better job than any of us could, and they at least are enjoying what they do.
I'm hoping Gatewatch scores at least a small victory; even if they don't take Bolas down a few pegs like he royally deserves, they'll walk away with something (at least another demon crossed off Liliana's list). In fact, I'd be fine if Bolas didn't even engage the Gatewatch directly; he could consider them so beneath his attention that he simply leaves them to deal with Razaketh, knowing that 4/5 won't abandon the plane and 1/5 has a personal reason to deal with Raz himself. Once Raz is out of the picture, the Gatewatch will make a decision between leaving Amonkhet (whether to join Ajani's search for allies, to find that fourth demon, or to keep tabs on Bolas) and staying to find a way to restore the Gods and perhaps the plane, though my guess is they'll save that for a return block (when they can play into the mostly dead tomb raiding Egypt tropes).

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

Does it? Does it cause you to feel revulsion or profound disapproval? That's a strong reaction. I for one don't hate the concept of the GW, but I do want to see them get their "Empire" moment. Obviously they won't disband. I would say Wizards is doing "okay"
I don't foresee them becoming bad guys but they sure as hell aren't forming new or lasting relationships. Ugin is PO'd, I can see Ajani berating them as well after this. Gids could die, so Chandra would be despondent. (BR Chandra woo woo!) Tamiyo has misgivings. Kiora dunt curr. It could cause rifts in the future, splitting PW's into three major factions. GW, Anti-GW, Evil Bastards.
I agree. The GW might be able to take on the 3 gods, but how Bolas manhandled all eight, not a chance they beat him.
That was a pre-Mending Bolas rolling over Amonkhet. That's not where his power level is now.
Yea i get that, but also in the story he said the he has a few days left before losing his powers so he has to hurry to get things done, doesn't that imply that what's been going on on Amonkhet since then has been "feeding" him, so he hasn't completely lost them or he has to return to get the power once the sun gets in place. I probably have to reread the story but the way i read it, is that he either saved his power or he set it up to regain it.
Unless the GW gets to him before he regains it (if that's the way it happened) then it would really suck.

They already have relationships, some better than others. Chandra and Gideon are obviously interested in each other, I can see their relationship developing further. Nissa's making friends with Chandra and, I hope, Ajani. Even Gideon and Nissa seem to get along well enough, though Nissa feels Gideon can't truly understand how she feels. Jace and Liliana are the two with relationship issues, which the writers will exploit for story tension. Ugin, Tamiyo, and Kiora aren't even part of GW.
Being part of a team means you don't just split the moment bad stuff starts happening; Liliana seems like the type who might, sure, but Gideon is certainly too committed to the cause and I'd like to think the rest are as well. If anything, the bad stuff they go through might actually strengthen their bonds as they get to know each other better.

It's Brad Pitt, sadly the gif doesn't work as a profile picture.
He already said it was Andy Roddick.
And between you and me, I wouldn't mind some personal time with dat Roddick.
But it's not Andy Roddick, It's a screenshot I took from a film with Brad Pitt and George Clooney in it (Burn After Reading). Now I'm getting off topic!

You just missed the entire point of the post you were replying to. The criticism wasn't about the cohesion of the Gatewatch (internal realtionships), but about the way they make allies from outsiders (external realtionships). Hence the mention of mainly planeswalkers outside the Gatewatch (Ugin, Tamiyo, Kiora) is entirely on point in the post you are replying to.
The problem for the Gatewatch (the core: Origins 5) is - according to the referenced post - their lack of positive relations with nonmembers.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.
[thread=239793][Game] Level Up - Creature[/thread]
I'm more interested in MARO's connection to the planeswalkers... it could be his usual ambiguous type of answer for things that have no preconceived intentions, but it does beg the question: are the planeswalkers under some form of control, or do they have some specific freedom that others (whose eyes don't illuminate) don't have?
We learned in the last story that Bontu was the only of those five Amonket gods that wasn't tweaked and deceived by Bolas. The other gods were adorned with the golden masks.
Is there a connection or similarities about the planeswalkers' sparks (and the light from their eyes)?
Glow Eyes = Good Aligned
No Mask = In league with Bolas
No Glow = In league with Bolas
This isn't very hard to deduce. He is the middleman for Liliana's pact and is essentially gifting her a plane of undead to control. (unconfirmed)
If the GW doesn't get completely wrecked this set I'm going to be very disappointed.
How you should approach every game of Magic.
