Wizards specifically mentioned that this commander set will be outside of the color wheel. And that they are emphasizing popular and interesting tribes.
This leads me to believe that one of the tribes will be Eldrazi. It's very popular, and EDH players would love to play it if it had a few more cards.
Eldrazi is easily the most popular tribe relative to how few creatures there actually are in the tribe. And it's not like we are going to get any more Eldrazi in standard sets so COMM17 is the only chance for more Eldrazi.
In addition doing 4 five color decks would be boring. Three five color decks (Perhaps Dragons, Angels and Demons) along with a colorless COMM set would be more interesting and all four creature tribes would allow for lots of massively powerful creatures along the philosophy of EDH.
A colorless commander prebuilt deck has never been done before and this would provide a rare opportunity to do one.
Also I would love for more decent Eldrazi to be printed for Legacy. A 4cc Kozilek's Channeler for example would be a godsend, even as a 3/3.
I don't really care much for the Eldrazi. I'm not above playing them as a strategy but I think Eldrazi, in general, are exemplar of the Yu-Gi-Oh style power creep that WotC claims to work so hard to avoid. Every time I see a new Eldrazi, I wonder what WotC is thinking and why they keep going back on their own statements. Outside of reprints to ensure the secondary market prices stay at a reasonable level and accessible to future players, I don't want to see them again.
Looking at some of the leaked cards, I wouldn't be surprised though. There are some real power houses so far and Eldrazi would already be in line for it.
That's because of the unexspected slot. And like you said excluding the standard/modern/lore Eldrazi haters, eldrazis are very popular in commander.
But one slight error
It could actually be devoid 5-color because there are several attempts at Eldrazi tribal on edhrec and most are non fitting commanders (and krona most of all) and we have all of those devoid Eldrazi
Which leads to the decks being these if five color
5-color dragon (which may have Ben leaked and likely real
5-color sliver (definately popular and interesting tribal and a opportunity to get slivers cheaper.)
5-color angel (from all the other possible very popular and interesting tribes Angels is heavy request for 5-color)
5-color devoid Eldrazi (my statement is right in this post)
Though I personally doubt it, if they did make a commander for Eldrazi they'd want to make sure all the Devoid Eldrazi could be played in the deck, otherwise fans could end up rather put out.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Not likely to see eldrazi tribal and I don't think all the 4 decks will be 5 color either. Probably 5 color (dragons), 3 color (angels?), 2 color (elves?) and a mono color (goblins?).

Noooo! If they are doing a single color tribe that we've been wanting for years, it's going to be BEAR TRIBAL!!!
But for realz, I wouldn't have any issue if they did 5c devoid. It would be awesome as hell. They could use the deck to print out more tribal spells (hopefully they do that with all the decks). And one of the secondary commanders in the deck could be a colorless creature just to give colorless decks something new to run for their commander. Then you also have a precon deck that has Wastes and colorless-mana-matters. Let WotC get a bit more value out of BFZ and OGW. Don't forget, with how long everything takes in development, when they were working on this set, they knew about everything that they were doing for those sets, but not the fan reaction that would come of it.
I would hate to see that. An eldrazi commander is something that is very difficult to identify with which most players do. Your commander is, in a way, making a statement and eldrazi make what statement? Annihilate, void, erase, etc. Boooring...

Cult of the Succubi Eating Kitten and Brotherhood of Hamsters - Zombie One/Hulking One - Brotherhood of Hamsters disapproves of Damage on the Stack amputation, the corruption of Mythics, and the "Major changes to Extended" in July 2010. You aborted our cards., but we approve of the Modern format. Even if it doesn't ha ve Carrion Feeder or Caller of the Claw in it.

I really hope slivers is one of the decks. They could do competitive slivers like a crystaline clone with hexproof instead, slivers that interact with commanders. Each sliver gets +1/+1 for each counter on your commander or just slivers with cool abilities from any block ever printed. infect sliver, delve sliver the possibilities are endless.
I hope they don't do eleves as they already have good options. I want to see merfolk, slivers and maybe goblins with merfolk and goblins getting legacy playable cards that push the deck up a tier.
I sincerely hope so, because I love these eldritch, world-devouring monstrosities. The art, the colorless card frame, the larger-than-life abilities, ANNIHILATOR...
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
While I would be down for an Eldrazi general I doubt we would see another 5 color deck.

SonofaBith - Wizards was so excited about making the packaging for Modern Masters 2 recyclable, they decided to make most of the rares and all but 1 of the UC's recycle-bin ready too. Convenient!
My feeling is that given the events surround the BFZ block and eldrazi winter, they probably will skip eldrazi tribal. Between Emrakul, the Promised End mind slaving people into oblivion through Eldrich moon standard, the pro tour Legacy lite eldrazi deck that spawned and warped the entire MtG secondary market for months due to all decks having to find miracle ways to deal with it, and the entire BFZ block being more about eldrazi than the plane itself, that was one block they probably want brushed under the rug.
That doesn't mean they wont do a Zendikar themed tribal deck, just Eldrazi in particular probably wouldn't be the tribe. A Vampire themed deck or maybe an allies deck could happen, though. Also this is largely speculation: Maybe they had already planned out an eldrazi themed deck amidst the chaos that standard brought and we'll end up with one this year. They work so far ahead that sometimes they can't really steer the ship away from the iceburg.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
My Kozilek, Butcher of Truth deck would love some new tools. They really need to do a colorless deck and Eldrazi is the best chance for that to happen. Devoid is a mechanic with little to no personality in and of itself. The artifact and eldrazi colorless spells would open up designs for all colorless commanders like Karn, Silver Golem. Heck I would be open to a Karn, Silver Golem deck with a Karn Liberated Planeswalker reprint.
You guys are describing exactly why the Eldrazi have a good shot of winning the unexspected tribe slot.
Now I only heard this I don't know the source but wizards have Ben considering a colorless pre-constructed commander deck, this is a opportunity since it's not color focused this time.
So either "A" colorless deck "B" devoid 5-color. (If they do it anyway.)
I, for one, welcome our new Eldrazi overlords. The question is - will they use one of the three current Titans as the new commander - or will they make up a new one?
I would choose a pre-spark Ugin as the commander. He's not an Eldrazi, no, but he is fascinated by them, is associated with colorless, and yet could also justify having a WUBRG ability a la Tazri seeing as he is the source of Dragons on Tarkir, who span all five colors. Since he'd likely have some kind of colorless-matters effect, he could work for artifacts, Eldrazi, and Morph.

I wouldn't be surprised to not get an Eldrazi deck - people overwhelmingly told Wizards that they were sick of the amount of Eldrazi that has been shoved down their throat and at the end of the Emrakul arc they talked about letting more time pass in the future. Ironically people would be fine with Eldrazi as just a part of a supplemental product.
I, for one, welcome our new Eldrazi overlords. The question is - will they use one of the three current Titans as the new commander - or will they make up a new one?
I actually hoped that during the second coming of the Eldrazi they would define the colors of the broodlines a little better to make something like this more applicable.

Would this be a viable commander for the deck. It would allow for Eldrazi decks of any color combinations in EDH.

R: Target player loses 1 life
