ugin will come in the hour of devestation to wage a new battle against nicol bolas. after ugins mind was tapped by bolas for the key to unlock the powerful eldrazi, Ugin now saved by sarkhan, thirsty to seek revenge against his old rival bolas who betrayed the rest of the elder dragons !!!! I bet sarkhan comes out of the wood works to get a bit of revenge against bolas for controlling him in the past. also I bet lilliana will be summoned by bolas singes he helped arrange the transaction between her and the 4 demons .
also let's not forget the bolas archenemy deck that's coming during the period aswell.
It could be really cool if there was a powerful cycle of curses refferinh the 10 plagues of egypt.
1. The Water turned into Blood (UB? Maybe some mana denial ability, or lands don't untap?)
2. Frogs falling from the Sky (UG? Opponent gets a token, whenever echanted player casts a spell?)
3. Lice everywhere (BG probably. Opponent gets deathtouch token for each card in your graveyard or anything like that?)
4. Wild beasts appearing (RGfor sure. Whenever enchanted player casts a creature, opponent can tutor for on with the same cc and cast for free?)
5. Livestock disease (RW? Some land saccing 'geddon effect?)
6. Festering Boils (BR? You have to sac creatures and when you do, your opponent is dealt damage?)
7. Thunderstorm of Hail and Fire (UR probably. Opponent gets to bolt something whenever echanted layer draws?)
8. Locusts (GW? Flying insect tokens for your opponent whenever a land is tapped?)
9. Darkness for three days (BW? You creatures do not deal damage for three turns?)
10. Death of firstborn sons (Well, UW is left ... but this sounds more BW, I don't know ... Saccing creatures of course)
Some of them have to be worked out a little more I guess. They could also change the effects slightly, because it's not real Egypt and everything.
new plague lands, green white and every turn you create a locus that deals 1 damage to you ..
Today's story just confirmed that Razaketh (one of Lili's demons) is on Amonkhet, so we will most probably be getting one badass demon (he was said to be more powerful than Kothoped and Griselbrand), and we could also get a new Lili, although we got the Last Hope relatively recently.

They likely want to keep a rotation up on the justice league... I mean gatewatch team, so Lili is probably on the short list for another card, but we'll have to wait and see. Chandra and Nissa are already set to go and Ajani is back in the story. If any walker is going to get reprinted it will probably be Gideon.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
Multicolor set with shards, but not as all-in as Alara (more like KTK in terms of multicolor as-fan). We already have two playable shard-colored cards in standard.
Cycle of five shard-colored gods.
New UBR Bolas (obviously) in Hour of Devastation, WUB Crucius (Sphinx planeswalker from Esper) in one of the sets. 6 planeswalkers in the block again, to fit in all the tricolor walkers.
UB Ashiok (who is revealed to be from Amonkhet), W Gideon, two other walkers (at least one working for Bolas).
Unearth returns (not just in UBR colors, to differentiate from Grixis) or another graveyard mechanic.
-1/-1 counters return, along with either persist or another related -1/-1 counter ability.
Curses return.
A devotion-like mechanic compatible
A mechanic resembling Zendikar quests and/or Theros ordeals.
Enchantment subtheme as a limited archetype for at least one color pair (with curses at common in those colors), but not in all colors.
For the desert theme, either return of playable land destruction (in moderation) or a land sacrifice subtheme.
Ainok and Catfolk in W, and/or other colors.
Aven in U.
Sheep minotaurs in R and W.
Crocodiles in G, maybe B.
Lots of sphinxes. Demons and dragons (even if they don't belong in Egypt), too.
B and WB mummies (zombie creature type), maybe mono-W.
Here is a crazy idea: What if the gods of Amonkhet actually are all planeswalkers? If they indeed are shard-colored, at least one would otherwise have to share colors with Bolas, which would be kinda weird (even weirder if Crucius is present and another one has to share colors with him). On the other hand, it would rack up the planeswalker count to at least 6, more probably 7. But it could be feasible since three-color walkers are considered very narrow. And a whole different issue would be flavor justification for a Bant or Naya walker working for Bolas.
I think that mummies are the egypt of today and not the egypt of yesterday, which the set is based on.
I wouldn't be surprised if Bolas takes on a different appearance on this plane, something more Anubis like.
Maybe some slavery mechanics.
What if Amonkhet has, Challenge Decks? Like the ones from Theros Block that were "Face the Hydra", "Battle the Horde", "Defeat a God"? They actually proved to be quite a popular thing, more than they were expecting. And that the trials could be a hint towards such decks. Where the Challenge Decks for Amonkhet might be for instance going through a booby-trap laden tomb to reach the end. A similar product was Commander 2011 which proved to be a bigger product than they were expecting and so after a delay they started to make more on a regular basis.

Yeah but Chandra and Nissa both got cards for Oath and then new card in Kaladesh.
With the story this week my guess for planeswalkers are now; W- Gideon BUR- Bolas B- Liliana
some U or R-new?
some G-new? (hope they are mono-green)
also from looking at kaladesh it would be a safe bet one or both of those walkers would be BR, RG, BG, RW or GU

Come to think of it, Sarkhan could make an appearance. He certainly has a score to settle with Bolas and fits the colors quite well. He might even join the Gatewatch, since he has literally nobody else in this timeline.
Do you guys think wotc would print more than 6 walkers in a block if there are multiple 3 colored ones?
obviously Bolas in UBR, Crucius has been hinted at and can be WUB and possibly Ramaz in URG. I'm hoping they print Ramaz in temur colors and make Sarkhan RG again.
I wonder if they'll reprint Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker here: the flavour on that card is as neutral as you can get.
However, that would be a major miss in terms of excitement.
Reprint or make a new printing of an existing PW? If they mentioned wanting to reprint planeswalkers recently we may not see that reprint for a bit.

I think it would be great if we got a block without having planeswalkers forced down our throat. Two planeswalkers fit- Bolas and Liliana, really anything else is a cash grab. I remember when planeswalkers first came out in lorwyn and they were all decently good and super cool and rare but wizards has watered them down so much in order to pump out more of them it's really kind of disgusting. That being said I could see them putting three planeswalkers in the first set, those being Liliana, Jace (If I remember correctly Liliana was trying to get jace to owe her a favor), and a new planeswalker. Holding bolas to the second set similarly to how they had Chandra in kaladesh and tezzert in aether revolt to split up the protagonist and antagonist.
Value is good. But Dredgevine isn't supposed to be about value. It's supposed to be about V-8; 2000 pounds of nitro boosted war vegetables. The more velocity, the better.

It would be something new if they make a high costing Planeswalker and it also comes with an alternate cost like pay this lower cost mana and sac a Planeswalker you control.
Zombie Elspeth. Oh dear gods we may see a Zombie Elspeth.
That will most probably be a plot point in the next return to Theros. Last time we were left with a whole bunch of cliffhangers and Ajani provides the now-necessary link to the Gatewatch, so I expect it in very near future.
Entirely baseless but what if Razaketh is one of the 5 gods? It would explain Why Liliana is so concerned about dealing with him. Also seeing a Demon God card would be pretty cool.
Zombie Elspeth. Oh dear gods we may see a Zombie Elspeth.

Well, we think that, but there really hasn't been any ground rules laid out for how the afterlife works with the blind eternities. Theros gods may be bound to a specific planes section of the afterlife and dictate a small section of it, but every plane likely has some kind of tangential connection to a piece of the underworld given cards like Bridge from Below, and how prolific necromancy is across just about all planes of existence.
The primary reason I could see elspeth as a distant possibility in Amonket is due to Godsend. That is something that Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker would want his hands on as a trump card against gods and could easily put him in a place of power on a plane like Amonket. Given Elspeth was the last being to hold the weapon, he'd have to find her to get the sword back and could potentially manipulate her since he would need a powerful champion to wield it. Of course, it's also possible that is a plot they will follow in a later set that the "Hour of Devastation" pushes a fleeing Nicol Bolas to.

While there isn't anything that out right disproves your theory, we've seen many cases of worlds with afterlife and nothing suggests they are able to somehow connect such as with Agyrem.
However, I don't think it possible for ghosts to "planeswalk" to other worlds afterlife and be brought back on other planes. Otherwise more necromancers would have known about other planes well as those such as the angels of Avacyn or Erabos who deal or watch the afterlifes. Narrative it doesn't make sense because we know that Elspeth is making a returned mask.

Godsend is only a god-killing weapon for the gods on Theros, Purphoros made it to cut and damage Nyx and the gods who are made of Nyx. Otherwise it is a "normal" magical blade so useless for Bolas to use as a trump card against any deities besides those on Theros. Also after Helios broke it, the sword might not be able to cut Nyx anymore.

Besides the glaringly obvious Bolas, Planeswalkers will almost certainly include Gideon (they didn't plan on BfZ still being in standard and I imagine they'll always want at least one version of the "Founding Gatewatch/Origins 5" in Standard at least until the Gatewatch balloons to 8+ members and needs to split up more often). I also imagine we'll get Liliana (one of her demons is on Amonkhet). Thee's a chance we'll get a new Jace as well but I doubt it; sort of suspect that the block after this will be Rav3 and that'd be a perfect time to do/re-do a Guildpact Jace. Toss in speculations of a U/x Sphinx walker and there we go. The last slot will most likely be another new 'walker to show the flavor of the plane, probably something G/x since we have B, W, UBR, and Uxy as the walkers already listed.

They may not always do a theme based on card type, but I would also wager on Enchantments. Generally, I believe the Masterpiece treatment is best reserved for permanents, since a card that goes straight to the graveyard isn't the most exciting card to pimp up.
