I'm not going to speculate on what rarities they'll appear as, although I'm going to hope some things downshift in rarity and nothing upshifts in rarity.
To everyone claiming Snapcaster Mage, Cavern of Souls, etc would be printed at Mythic rarity - what justification do you have?
The only cards that have ever been increased to Mythic rarity meet one of two criteria:
Originally printed prior to the existence of Mythic rarity
Printed at Mythic rarity in specialized products - From the Vault, Masterpiece series, etc.
There has been exactly zero cards that have been increased to Mythic that were originally printed at Rare or lower after the inception of the Mythic rarity, outside of nonstandard printings (From the Vault, Masterpiece, etc.)
The only reason they would rarity shift something after the mythic inception is to change the number of copies appearing in draft. Snapcaster Mage is definitely not a mythic level draft card as it can't do much on it's own to win the game. Cavern of Souls might be mythic, but again, mythic usually gets saved for those big bomb cards that have super high impact on the game. Cavern just doesn't do that. I'm hoping for a land cycle reprint of some sort in the upcoming modern masters, but I'm not sure which one I'd like to see more. I actually don't wnat to see zen fetches as much as maybe Future Sight lands and tribal lands.

you mean what justification wizards has, right? I think there are only two intentions behind that, one of them being balance for the draft environment. Avatar of woe as well as hydra omnivore have been printed in commander as a rare and have been bumped to mythic as to not wreck conspiracy multiplayer too often. Snapcaster doesn't fit that criteria, so what's the other one?
It's quite simple: money. Snapcaster sells a set, no matter the rarity. People are so desperate for a reprint they don't care how many packs they have to crack. Wizards could make it a hyper mythic, or pardon me, a 'special rarity', and they would get away with it because its snapcaster mage. Plus there seems to be this weird new ideology that wizards follows, where when a card reaches a certain price point it gets bumped up a rarity as to not mess with the stock market all too much. Snapcaster fits that trend incredibly well, and neither would I be surprised to see cavern of souls as a mythic.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.

What other cards have had the rarity bumped when the card has reached some mystical value? I can't think of any. Commander products are the exception to the rule and mainly because the rarity on the commander products is arbitrary. Are there any mythics in a commander product that aren't the commander cards?
Snapcaster will not be printed at mythic. Cavern won't be printed at mythic. Damnation may be printed at mythic especially since it would be annoying at rare in a draft environment. Since there is no Modern Masters GP there will not a large venue for Damnation to warp a large tournament.
Was Wrath of God annoying in the Eternal Masters draft environment? Nope. That bodes well for damnation staying a rare, but...
Eternal Masters was in a much higher powered set so the effect didn't feel oppressive. I could still UR flashback you to death or you could already be dead by value elves. Damnation could very well be oppressive in the MM format if it is slow enough.

I agree with you on saying eternal masters was a higher powered set, so shouldn't the draft environment be able to handle uncommon sink holes for example? You say snap and cavern wont be mythic while I believe that they very well may be, but in the end its just pointless speculation and we will all be wiser when spoilers roll around.

I played in a fair number of paper Eternal Masters drafts and I can say that everyone of those cards would have been oppressive at lower rarities.
2 mana land destruction (Sinkhole) would have killed any of the slower flier/control decks and paired with Hymn to Tourach would have pushed B into a different level, even with Daze and Force of Will in the format.
Playing around Daze was bad enough, but playing against the guy you knew had FoW was painful.
Baleful Strix was funny in that it was great against some decks but pretty useless against others. I could see Strix as an uncommon, but please remember that its original printing was in Planechase where rarity is arbitrary.
Sensei's Divining Top would have just slowed games down to make things un-fun if it was uncommon.
Wasteland could probably have been okay at uncommon, because it can only blow up the gainlands, but it would suck to open if you aren't drafting for value. Just about every pack I opened had 1 gainland and many had 2. Colorfixing wasn't an issue in the format.
Heritage druid may have been okay as a lower rarity, but I never got to draft an elf deck so I don't know. I do know that the elf decks could be very powerful if drafted properly and I got beat a number of times by them.
And I still disagree with the Goyf as a mythic issue. If you are playing green in most formats, you have to ask the question, "Where does goyf fit in?" That to me defines a mythic. It is an extremely efficient beater.
But you are right, it is all baseless speculation and we won't know until March.

The set is being made to draft. They dont want one person opening up multiple game changing rares. I think IF they print Snapcaster and Cavern in MM17 they will be Mythics because of the desire to balance drafting.
Every masters set has been designed to be drafted. There are archetypes built into each set.
Standard is the business model. If Standard dies, so does the game. Wotc needs players that are willing to buy packs/boxes or are willing to draft the sets to crack said packs. Wotc does not cater to the player who buys into a single deck and plays that deck for years not needing their product to play.
Modern can not become more popular then Standard. Wotc wont let it. Hence the cut backs on higher level tournaments. Limited masters product, and higher price tag.
I will say with the new thinking about 4 mana sweepers, Damnation looks to be a solid inclusion to the set. It will probably never see a Standard legal set ever again along with *** and we saw *** last in MM15.
If we go by the last masters sets. 15 Mythics and 50 rares. From 8th to RTR block. Thats really not much space to fit with some of the desires that some are asking for.
I think Doubling Season gets a functional reprint, mainly because it only saw an increase because of some Atraxa EDH nonsense but also due to Legacy Atraxa jazz. I mean no offense to EDH player, I primarily am one, just injected Commander product tends to do this.
Also I think Sculpting Steel and Copy Enchantment could be reprinted at rarity, because they are decent cards with no circulation bound to, at some point, see a spike from buyouts and the like.
I'd love to see Damnation for the same reason as Doubling Season. It's too expensive because of availability, and I'd like get another copy at some point.

Yeah Parallel Lives has no demand, and Doubling Season would support any archetypes 'Lives would be built around, and is strictly better in the archetype without question. They've also printed it in a previous masters set, much like Goyf, which would be an easy rare slot to appease a major part of their demographic.
I get that, but you can see their possible logic in printing the worse option.

Isn't Dark Confidant an example of a card that was needlessly upshifted from rare to mythic when it got an MM reprinting? I mean ostensibly maybe it was for draft balance but does anyone believe that? More likely to me is the "it has achieved a "mythic"-worthy price point on secondary market" theory. I don't think snapcaster or tarmagoyf need to be mythic for draft balance, either.
I think(hope) the red mythics will be through the breach and either thundermaw or balefire dragon. It's very unliky but i'm hoping for a wheel of fortune reprint as well (preferably with the judge promo art). LotV wasn't shown on the packaging art because she probably got a new art. I hope to god that's the reason. LotV and Snap get new arts

with so many non-basic lands in the set, I am predicting a heavy multi-colored set, as there being so many lands, it will support a limited environment very well.
