So with Aether Revolt right around the corner, I've been growing more and more excited to see what wild artifacts we might receive in the set. Kaladesh brought us some very interesting pieces including vehicles and a mythic Gearhulk cycle. Metalwork Colossus is another very fun and insane card... and don't even get me started on Panharmonicon!
I was wondering if anyone had any predictions on what kinds of interesting artifacts we could see in AER. After seeing the spoiled Scrap Trawler, I was hoping to see some more powerful artifacts to perhaps solidify a mostly-artifact based deck.
Here is a list of some ideas I had:
- Something like Trading Post. This is such a fun and unique card; I'd really love to see something like it in Kaladesh to get maximum value out of artifacts.
- Small artifacts that can play a big role; either something that can make mana, gain life, or return artifacts back from the graveyard to your hand.
Pay 3 Exile Target Artifact or Creature you control. Return it to play at the beginning of the next end step.
Rusted Jalopy 3
Artifact - Vehicle
3/2 Deathtouch
Crew 1
(It's almost as dangerous to drive it as it is to be hit by it)
Energy Converter 3
Artifact 1 Pay 1 life create 2 energy 1 Pay 2 Energy put a +1/+1 counter on target creature 1 Remove a +1/+1 counter from target creature you control gain 3 life
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

I would be happy if they reprinted Trading Post in AER, but I would also be a bit worried about the possible effect on Standard with Madness around.
I could see a new GY hate card similar to Relic of Progenitus or Cranial Archive.
