I would be on board with a wider variety of commanders. Sort of like what happened with the Partners, except without a weird cop-out mechanic that serves as an excuse. "Look guys, we did it! Four-color commanders!" and then make only four actual four-color commander ones...That was really lame.
If it were up to me, I'd make smaller commander-specific boosters. A few decent cards for any deck, and a second rare with a commander guaranteed. Perhaps at the cost of a few commons, making the booster contain 12 cards. 7 commons, 3 uncommons, 2 rares, one of which a guaranteed legendary creature.
The one thing that was decent about the Partner commanders was that we got cards of people we'd -sort of- seen before, like Sidar Kondo and Silas Renn. I really liked that. But, again, sadly they had Partner.
I honestly thing a once in a while Commander Booster Auxiliary Product would be a good idea. But I think it is unlikely to happen. Fortunately, we get a heck of a lot of stuff in the other auxiliary booster products (conspiracy, masters).
I can imagine a Commander booster set, that way we can get some commanders foiled for the first time, other nonfoil (like C16 ones), in new borders, and they can give more Commander effects, like experience counters, partner (a cycle of allied ones at least), and 4 color (there really should have been 2 cycles of 4 colored cards for C16).
If they ever do one, probably take the slot of Masters for the year, it would probably be when they are having trouble coming up with ideas, either because they've done them all or just don't have much. Plus it could help Legacy/Modern a tad with some cards being in it too.

Thing is, they are not going to run out of things to do for commander decks for a long time, a *really* long time. They have still to do the allied color decks, and beyond that there are both decks flavored around certain planes, as well as those with a tribal theme. And even beyond that, they can always revisit the older themes by restarting with wedge decks. There are still much that can be done, imagine a series of decks each focused on a separate multiplayer friendly mechanic.

Plane-flavored decks wouldn't work that well. You'd have, say, 3 Dominaria decks and 1 measly Mirrodin deck. As a random example.
Nope, not even close, there are a *lot* of planes from over the years, here's a few:
And that's just the ones sets have taken place on, beyond that we have literally dozens more that have been mentioned. Each and every one of those planes could be the basis of an interesting themed deck, and give WotC a chance to print some much asked for legendary creatures/planeswalkers. Such as Serra herself or a new card for The Baron himself (still the best villain in M:TG history).

I was more aiming at the amounts of planeswalkers from there with relation to the amounts of knowledge we have of them.
The amounts of planeswalkers from any given plane has little to nothing to do with it showing up as a theme for a commander deck, that said, here are a few known plane - planeswalker relations:
Serra's Realm: Serra herself
Ulgrotha: Sandruu the Minotaur, Ravi, Feroz, Daria,
Rabiah: Taysir, Nailah (possibly not a planeswalker)
Shandalar: Kenan Sahrmal, Azar, The Unnamed Guardian,
Dominaria: To many to list them all, but standouts include Tevesh Szat, Urza Planeswalker, Karn, Jaya Ballard, Teferi, Freyalise, and Nicol Bolas.
Alara: Tezzeret and Ajani
Ravnica: Azor, Domri Rade, Ral Zarek,
There are many more, but nearly all planes we have visited, even briefly, has had at least one planeswalker associated with it. The exceptions being purely artificial planes such as Phyrexia, although Mirrodin almost had at least one.

Please don't assume I know nothing about MTG lore. It's very demeaning.
That was not my intent, if it came across that way I apologize. I was simply trying to point out that there are multiple planeswalkers associated with all the non-artificial planes that could be used if they chose to do planeswalker commanders in such decks. And that is not even accounting for the possibility that they create entirely new planeswalkers for such decks.
Now, with that out of the way, I would love an Ulgrotha themed deck with a UBR Baron Sengir as the primary commander. That would be awesome.

It would be funny if they did 5 different rainbow commanders, but I doubt it would be possible.
It is quite possible, but it would be boring as we'd end up with:
1 Sliver Deck
1 Ally Deck
1 Elemental Deck
1 bad artifact deck with an unusually high scarecrow count.
1 very poor dragon deck with Scion of the Ur-Dragon in it.
Each of them would be different from each other, but all of them would be uninteresting.

[thread=239793][Game] Level Up - Creature[/thread]
I would like to see some kind of DC Doomsday Commander. A Commander that works on the strategy of being removed from the field and recast from the Command Zone. It gains buffs making it beefy and harder to get rid of for the number of times you played it.
I don't see why Planes-themed decks have to center around Planeswalkers. Even if we made them centered around Planeswalkers they could always make new ones anyways.

Apology accepted
I would also like to see Ulgrotha. Or perhaps not Ulgrotha, but wherever Sengir led his vampire troops from underneath the dwarven castle.
Indeed. I've always felt that it was unfortunate for WotC to abandon what is M:TG best villain just because the plane as presented in Homelands was disliked.

Personally, I'd really like for them to do a set of 5-color commanders, but leaning each towards a certain color. Scion of the Ur-Dagon, leaning red. Tazri in a mostly white ally deck. Slivers with a mostly green. Reaper King for a black scarecrow deck (could almost even skip having colored mana costs, but be sure to include Transguild Courier). And perhaps a Progenitus deck that leans blue and is mostly moonfolk and landfall mechanics.
Will it happen? Almost definitely not. But a guy can hope.
Whatever they do, they should just add more legends with partner in new products. As well as planeswalkers that can be commanders. It's no longer a commodity of either so they can just be added with subsequent products. The same can be true for other commander product effects like join forces, lieutenant, and experience points. I don't know why they don't add cards with those abilities in further products along with new things.

I definitely agree that they need to add more old gimmicks. I like all of the gimmicks they've done for Commander barring the area they played in with the arc Commanders. Planeswalkers is probably the big one to me, but I just like seeing new Planeswalkers and old ones.
I'd be okay with tribal commander decks, or more Planeswalker commanders as well. We haven't come back to anything we've already used really, and I'd like to take another look at experience counters as well.
Just to throw some ideas together that people mentioned; I thought of this: tribal with a twist:
WUBRG - Elementals BRG - Dragons WU - Birds R - Goblins C - Eldrazi
The tribes were kinda random but they fit with what I was going for. Eldrazi would be a hard deck to make though.

Partner is likely to return, as are planeswalker commanders, lieutenant, experience points, join forces, and other "commander" mechanics as they were very popular, I wouldn't expect them this year (2017) though, and not all at once.

How would you fill out a colorless eldrazi deck? You can't really use the cards with devoid because of how the format works mechanically, and filling the deck with artifacts feels wrong.
This year we are most likely to get the allied colored decks, probably something like this:
G/W: Tokens + Populate, going wide. I expect a Trostani reprint in this one.
W/U: Enchantment control. Lots of enchantments, establishing board control, maybe some detain cards. I expect a Hanna reprint here, possibly Ephara as well.
U/B: This one is the hardest, probably a very "sneaky" deck, lots of evasion and saboteur abilities, possibly a number of faeries as well. Hard to predict the legendary reprint.
B/R: Full on suicidal aggro. Hurt yourself to hurt your opponents. Lots of aggressive creatures, things like Unearth and Unleash. Either of the Rakdos Demonlord cards as the reprint.
R/G: Classic red-green stompy deck, go big or go home, lots of ramp and massive creatures. Borborygmos is the likely reprint legend, but it could be Ruric Thar instead.
That is what I predict. I also expect each of the decks to have the corresponding Odyssey filter land and Mirage fetch.

How would you fill out a colorless eldrazi deck? You can't really use the cards with devoid because of how the format works mechanically, and filling the deck with artifacts feels wrong.
There are 39 eldrazi cards with strictly colorless color identity (including tribals), plus 5 strictly colorless instants and sorceries in BFZ block (which would be tribal - eldrazi in ROE). Let's use 25-35 of them (including the commanders) and create some 5-15 new ones (Commander decks have about 15 new cards each, some shared with other decks). Add 40 lands (with 25-30 wastes) and you'll need only 10-25 artifacts.
Many artifacts sound perfectly valid. Eldrazi Monument and Dreamstone Hedron come to mind. Others can be reflavored as needed, and some will be brand new too.
This year we are most likely to get the allied colored decks,
Yeah, that's pretty obvious to me.
I also expect each of the decks to have the corresponding Odyssey filter land and Mirage fetch.
That would be good. Some still have no modern frame printing.

Discounting cards with Emerge and Devoid, as they can't be played in an entirely colorless deck in commander, there are 35 Eldrazi creatures, and 9 colorless spells. One of the creatures is banned in the format (for good reason, it's bah-roken in Commander). Of the remainder, a not insignificant number have annihilator, which is a decidedly unfun mechanic to face when there are a number of creatures with the ability on the playing field. Additionally, a number of the remaining cards are pretty much useless without exiled cards in your opponents exile zones (although there are a few cards among the remaining colorless Eldrazi aligned cards that exile cards, there are relatively few).
Overall, with the cards currently available in the pool, discounting any new ones, the deck would be incredibly unfun to play with or against. That is not to say that we won't eventually get such a deck, I just wouldn't hold my breath for it until we get some more colorless non-artifact, non-land cards.

It's fairly unlikely we'll see much of the Eldrazi again, though. As you know, two Titans are dead and the third one is locked up in Innistralcatraz.

I hope we see allied colored decks.
With 1 dual colored legend, 1 hybrid dual legend, and 2 mono colored with partner.
I'd also love to see new lieutenants.
I hope we see Ashnod become a legendary creature. would be the right color combination for her. Also I hope we see Tawnos as a legendary. would fit his color identity. Both would be human artificers. Both shared history with each other as they were apprentices of the two biggest people at that time, Urza (Tawnos's mentor)and Mishra (Ashnod's mentor).
I hope this year's commander product isn't 5 allied colored commanders. There are enough allied-colored legends in MtG. That being said, there have already been commander products for each three-colored combination, mono-colored, and 4-colored. The only odd one out is the two-colored combination since there have only been enemy-colored commanders. If ally-colored commanders is the product for this year, partner legends won't be in it (unless they're mono-colored legends with partner) but maybe there could be two different creatures with lieutenant in it.
Just as Freyalise was given a planeswalker card, I would like the other old walkers to have a card as well. Talking about Sandruu, Worzel, etc. Also, the other "titans" who worked together to defeat Yawgmoth during the Phyrexian Invasion. There are also lots of other legends that haven't received a card to represent them. Some of the ones used for partner were great but I hope I could forget about how the ball was dropped with Ludevic...

You're looking at it wrong, don't see it as "there are enough allied colored legends", but as an opportunity to reprint cards that are in sore need of a reprint for commander, such as the Mirage Fetches and the Odyssey filter lands. Not to mention that some of those aforementioned legends would be nice to see reprinted in a way that makes them easily available.

With 1 dual colored legend, 1 hybrid dual legend, and 2 mono colored with partner.
I'd also love to see new lieutenants.
