I think the new partner mechanic is a solid concept and that we will definitely see more partner cards in future commander products. I even bet mono-colored partners will be printed to allow for two and tri color decks. What are some of your thoughts?
I don't like the mechanic for a few reasons, but perhaps the biggest one is because it basically creates a loophole by enabling players to build decks around one creature with partner, but splash another color outside of its color identity by playing a creature it partners with without every having to commit to building around or even casting that general.
I imagine it won't be next year, but a few years down the road it would be great to see some more partner creatures of one or two colors, and particularly to fill the Vorthos criteria of making partners that are actually from the same planes. New versions of all the Weatherlight crew would be really cool, for one, or Ravnica guild leaders with partner so you could team up any two guilds, like the original concept of the Nephilim.
It's cute that the mythics and rares that share a color identity have some connection, but it would have been nice if each of the 4-color combinations had a partner combination that makes flavor sense. I suppose it's possible that there are some across the decks, but there are only 7 combinations for each 4-color group right now if I'm counting right.
I'm pretty sure that Partner will stick around for secondary commanders (Edric and co in Comm1)? It'll help brew new and interesting things.
And allow them to print lower power commanders from time to time. I am against commander for color identity sake (and not use in the deck)... but people do that with Scarecrow and other 5C goodstuff builds. So this isn't new.
We really need to see all of them before rushing to judgment.
None of the Partner cards shown so far make crazy combinations,
and I'll be kind of surprised if any of them do.
Much like the commander ability on Teferi, Temporal Archmage and company,
this is an ability I would love to see more of going forward.
I also kind of wish they would retroactively add Partner to underpowered Legendaries
like Triad of Fates or Munda, Ambush Leader,
but I seriously doubt that will happen.

I think the "power" that will come from Partner is simply creating new decks that, while buildable previously, didn't have a Commander that fit their theme. It will also allow existing themes to widen a little bit to bring in more utility. I'm looking at Akiri, Line-Slinger, and it's pretty obvious to me that RW Equipment is going to be more well-rounded than a mono-white Nahiri, the Lithomancer deck, not to mention RWU if there's a reasonable WU partner.

Cool ideas here.
New Weatherlight crew cards are sorely needed; many of those original cards are either now pretty bad or always were. I can imagine a whole Commander product being dedicated to them considering there were at least a dozen crewmembers plus associates and rivals like Cho-Manno and Vuel.

That's a perk of the mechanic. It's no different than playing Zada, Hedron Grinder in a R/x deck so you can copy nonred spells. Heck, part of the point of the FRF Khans is that you don't have to play all three of their colors.
I'd like to see more Partner legends in the future. They might even decide to make Partner a staple of future commander products. My only grievance with Partner is that they spent a name that would have worked very well for a pairing mechanic in a future Western block.
Notably they stayed away from Ravnica this time around, probably because Ravnica already gets a smorgasbord of multicolor legends, but I'd love to see the "guilds working together" concept to be fully realized while also giving us a pair of partner creatures for each guild, like Boros buddy cops or Rakdos partners-in-crime.

Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

Two and hree-color decks with partners are already possible - though of the two-colored decks only enemy colors can have two partnered commanders that together create an exactly two-colored color identity for the deck (by combining the two enemy-colored legendary creatures with partner of that color combination). I actually expect some three-colored decks to spawn in the coming weeks and months just from partnering commanders with a shared color.

I think there will be many fun decks resulting from the existence of partners that were not possible before, or if they were, required playing with a wonky commander that didn't actually fit a deck's theme or strategy, just to get the color identity.
My prediction therefore, is that we will definitely see partners again, although probably not until 2018. There is a ton of design space that can be explored with them. Mono-colored partners are obvious, but tri-colored partners automatically lead to 5-color decks that aren't just tribes (I'm looking at you Horde of Notions, Scion of the Ur-Dragon, and the Sliver lords).
Yeah, I agree. Just as we haven't seen any planeswalkers with the commander ability on them, I doubt we will be getting new legends with partner anytime soon - especially since they printed 15 of them. What I wanted to see come back were creatures with lieutenant. There are some commander-based abilities that should be on newer cards with each set. Join forces is another ability I wanted to see return for commander. It's supposed to be for multiplayer so there should be more cards to support that, as well. They should've reprinted Command Beacon as well since it was only distributed in one of the precons on last year. But I won't even get started on that because that's a whole other can of worms.

As Maro likes to say, "Success breeds repetition". If partners (or for that matter, experience and PW commanders) prove popular enough, they're more likely to make more in the future.

Correct. But as he has also noted, when something new is successful enough that they decide to repeat it, it typically takes (edit: at least) 2 years before the first repeat happens.
