Does anyone think that they may have it line up with chandra? 6-7 cmc and have it endter and deal damage to player and or creature = to its power and have haste? Removal and beat stick the turn it comes into play makes it really really good, have it be a 6-5 or something.
"Combustible Gearhulk" sounds like it sets itself on fire, rather than setting enemies on fire. I would guess that its ETB effect will be something that prevents blocking that turn, like a Seismic Stomp, or just granting Menace to all of your creatures.
I would have guessed Menace for its keyword, but that is already taken by the black Gearhulk... Haste, probably?
The "Combustible" in its name derives from his "Combustible Fist" ("significantly amplifying the discharge to provide the tremendous amount of power necessary to charge the Gearhulk's sparking combustible fist." from http://magic.wizards.com/en/content/immersiveeventpage/eshan-baat).
People are just ignoring that we already know its name and the hints that were given in that page. We can make more informed predictions based on the flavor those 2 things suggest. Act of treason like effects, team pump effects, seismic stomp like effects, none of that stuff makes any sense whatsoever regarding the flavor of the card. It'll either be AOE damage or gaining energy when it enters, those are the only two things that make sense based on what information we already have. Stop suggesting things that were already on Inferno Titan, like firebreathing and divided damage. Wizards is making a different cycle and will not make something that just feels the same thing from the titans. Just look at all the other gearhulks, they set themselves apart from the titans, the red one will not be different.

To be fair, the green and white Gearhulks have the same keyword as their titan counterparts. So firebreathing isn't out of the question.
True that. I expressed myself poorly and stand corrected, my bad. I should have made it clear that I meant specifically their etb triggers for as what differentiates them the most from the titans. I hope it's not firebreathing though nevertheless, I just never liked it as an ability, so lame. I hope it's haste.
I'd say this design would be the best. It may have three abilities, but the others are spell-mimicking in character, and red does spells a lot, already. And the blue one just "hits target spell, again". Red might have wanted that, and to just flip those around, is perhaps a bit boring. We get it. Scrivener/Anarchist. Should it get an FTK variant? If so, how expensive and how little damage for how good and abusable FTK-type triggers are? It's an utterly knowable card, if that, it's not going to duplicate Inferno Titan, and you'd know its range. So, what "in the box" of creature design makes sense for a red Gearhulk? Well... ability the third. Putrefax/Skizzik functionality where artifacts matter, and is the opposite side of the coin. Not plain ol' creatures, but artifact creature fodder remains in flavor. A careful balance; it doesn't have ability one, some cough cough artifact is just a bit better. And so on. All needed, if you want to avoid "this gearhulk creates this spell". It'll never be able to just die and then hit for the extra. The ability is not optional, either. It's not a value play for edges of lethality, you play with it whether you want it or not. You better want it. Look at the green one. This one asks, how about me, then? What do I get to do? I'm aggro! I want some of that pie! His defense ability... hey, this, if you put both, says, appropriate bonuses without overwhelming power level. Everything BUT this one, or this one. That would be the appropriate Red-hamstringing; get both bonuses. (Without the draw-nulling would be a mistake. This guy hits you for seven, and may not even die. He HAS to do that, and yet three lands is a "Countryside Crusher with entropy" effect.)

"Warning: Um, warning. This is going to be a game state violation. And a taking extra turns and drawing extra cards violation, pretty much, a whole bunch of violations. Look at me, I'm the DCI."
Guys. Come on. They're a cycle. That means they all have some common ground that ties them togheter, in this case, the "keyword + etb trigger" paradigm. Is that so freaking hard to understand? And that its name is already established as being "COMBUSTIBLE GEARHULK"? It won't have more than 1 keyword. It won't have any other ability aside from the keyword and etb trigger. Are we clear? Geez...
It's like people think "speculating" means "throwing wild guesses out of my head without reading any of what has already been discussed or minding the evidence we already have that favors this or that theory".
First Strike and like 3 damage to all creatures of each opponent would already be super sweet for that standard.
Haste could be a thing, but with all the "ball lightning" like cards in the vehicle department, this would be boring.
Something along the line:
Combustible Gearhulk 3RR
Artifact Creature - Construct
First Strike
When ~ enters the battlefield it deals 3 damage to each creature your opponents control.

Would also work well together with the black one to clear the board of small creatures and then hit the big one they play (or the new BR murder).
YES, finally people with good insights. I never thought of that, but it could be something fresh, firebreathing with energy! AND it fits the flavor PERFECTLY.
I hope it's not firebreathing though nevertheless, I just never liked it as an ability, so lame.
It's worth pointing out the fact that Inferno Titan gets away with having firebreathing because Frost Titan also doesn't have a keyword ability. So half the Titan cycle has a keyword, the other half doesn't. If Combustible Gearhulk had firebreathing, it'd be the only one with an activated ability instead of a keyword ability. It would stand out like a sore thumb.
the problem with combustible gearhulk just entering the battlefield with haste and doing 3 damage to things, is it literally is just a less good flipped avacyn. That would be incredibly disappointing. And entering and giving yourself a bunch of energy is neat, but outrageously weak and would be the worst gearhulk by a landslide (only the blue one needs another card to have been played to be good, making the red one need energy matters card would be really parasitic) that's why I mentioned a shatterstorm ability at the top of this page, it would actually effect the board and not be a bad rip off of a white mythic. even though I guessed that it will come in and do kozilek's return as a and ETB, I still think that makes it the weakest gearhulk by far unless it triggers upon death to do the other 5 damage. The fact they have held back the red one from being previewed also hints that it may be slightly different in design from the others so 'keyword and etb' might become 'keyword and death trigger'.

The fact that DailyMtG's card gallery for Kaladesh still doesn't show the Cataclysmic Gearhulk, makes me believe we got a leak with it, and that it was supposed to be revealed this week too. So the wait may not be as big a deal as you think.
I think almost everything you said is reasonable, except for the first sentence. I don't think it could be compared to Avacyn at all. I mean, assuming that this is what he would do, having haste and doing 3 to all upon etb. You would cast it, wipe the board, and (hopefully) clear the path to hit the opponent's face with whatever its Power was. For Avacyn to do something resembling that you would have to cast her eot, have another creature, kill that creature on your turn, and she would then flip on the next upkeep. Anyway, I just think that if that was the gearhulk's abilities he would have nothing to do with avacyn, just way too different cards.

that's why I specifically said the flipped side of Avacyn. Because when she flips, she is a 6/5 flying haste that does 3 damage to everything that's not you. that would be nearly identical. but the truth is, with WotC deciding we can't have more than one truly good red card in each block, and we already got the awesome Chandra, I wouldn't be surprised if we got this:
combustible gearhulk
4RR 4/4
haste
when combustible gearhulk ETB harmless offering
We already have spot removal, mass removal, and a snapcast effect. Thinking through all the other big, splashy effects red has access to that would make sense on an expensive creature, I'm guessing it'll be a combination of haste and an extra combat step.
So here is are awaited red gearhulk. Was hoping for haste, though the first strike is nice. 6/6 for 6 is not bad at all. I like the pseudo-card draw with potential burn. If you can stack your deck you could get nice value out of ether effect regardless of what the opponent picks.
Spoiled and it's crazy bad! At least the design innovates, but not in the right way. Red should have had a better card, flavor does not fit (first strike really?, with no bow, nor weapon/extended wingspan?)...
Lightning in hand is faster than any weapon. That said I don't think anyone here thought of a Browbeat effect

I was at work thinking about that for like 2 hours laughing before I could finally post it. I was hoping someone else would find it funny too. Now that it's actually spoiled, man were we all way wrong, but wow am I happy with it. It goes so naturally with bedlem reveler both for common ability in draw and a huge reward if they do mill you and you hit even one reveler. I'm really happy to see WotC re exploring red's punisher ability and doing it right. This, plus sin prodder, and even going back to vexing devil is exciting to me. I love punisher cards, since they rarely do chaos cards anymore.
