I think that one of the issues with removing these angels within the coming set was to show the destruction of even the most pure minds.
Keep in mind that in magic, Angels do not naturally exist anywhere in the multiverse. they are strictly constructed biological or mechanical entities to serve a purpose, though always embodying some form of their creators will. From the introduction of Serra's angel within the story up until now not a single instance of an angel was one born or incarnated originally as an angel. This includes Akroma ( who later became phage, then again transforms into Korona) amongst many legendary angels. I agree, it is a bit depressing seeing an entire being warped and distorted in probably one of the most loved archetypes in magic, but it fits the story line from avacyn being driven insane, sigarda becoming almost bloodthirsty, and now the utter corruption of the remaining quasi divine beings of the plane.
With that said, I look forward to the future design space opening up in this set with eldrazi flip cards and what have you. I also look forward to the creation of new and exciting angels to potentially replace what was lost on Innistrad in the years to come. If we keep revisiting beloved planes, we will get more insight into that planes mechanics but also more depth of story. People complain about continuing storylines over 2 blocks but lets be fair, Dominaria was damn near the entire first 10 years of magic as one continuous (though differing) storylines lol
I realize I'm in the minority here, but I dislike this card.
Don't misunderstand me; the art is fantastic, the name is great and I can't wait to see what the actual power of this herald will be, but...
First they killed off Avacyn, now Bruna and Gisela are gone too, leaving only Sigarda still around. Though who knows what WotC is going to do to the last remaining legendary angel? They were a very interesting foursome, it's very saddening to see all the things I enjoyed about Innistrad getting shafted because of some Eldrazi hack. *sigh*
Of course I'm biased - Angels are one of my favorite tribes.
Gisela and Bruna were both pretty thoroughly corrupted in SoI according to the story. They were going to end up dead either way; at least this way it was impressive.
I actually think that there's potentially a lot more room for interesting expansion of the Innstrad angels with them dead, especially since Sigarda is explicitly uncorrupted and in rebellion. You can get a nice "Sigarda has to figure out how to rebuild" plot going next time around, assuming there's anything to rebuild.

Most recent sets have Angels that are explicitly natural. They're manifestations of Mana the way Demons and Elementals are, but they're not "created" by someone the way Serra's angels were. This was explicitly true for Innstrad, but has been implied to be true for both Zendikar and Ravnica as well.

Cyme we inne frið, fram the grip of deaþ to lif inne ðis smylte land.
Lacking Symbol suggests that if this gets used, it's for the new Eldrazi Symbol. Would also be cool to get our front facing cards of Bruna and Gisela, and then they transform into the monstrosity seen here.
Welp, totally gonna be a "meld" card. We're probably gonna have two seperate cards, one for Bruna and one for Gisela, and then they can meld into the messed up eldrazi hybrid. I personally think it's a bit cheesy, but, guess I could be wrong. With the two recent meld cards being spoiled though, and that test card that is mentioned above me, it really seems like it'll go that way. The two base cards will probably have their original mana colour for the cost, and the hybrid one possibly have a jeskai ability..? But I dunno, that'd be pretty costly in limited, and pretty niche anywhere else... Or, maybe each card will have an ability with the other colour? So, Bruna would be W/U and have a R effect, and Gisela would be R/W and have a U effect.

712.5b The controller of another player can't make choices or decisions for that player that aren't called for by the rules or by any objects. The controller also can't make any choices or decisions for the player that would be called for by the tournament rules.
Example: The player who's being controlled still chooses whether he or she leaves to visit the restroom, trades a card to someone else, agrees to an intentional draw, or calls a judge about an error or infraction.
