In any case, they are going to have to start repeating color combinations soon. Allied colors are the only major set left. Hopefully, this opens up more space for existing characters.
Come to think of it, an Innistrad based cycle of legends would be perfect for allied colors. Hal and Alena for GW, Tovolar for RG, Runo Stromkirk for BR, and Ludevic for UB. Not sure who would be WU. We don't have any geists conspicuously missing a card. St Raben, maybe? Jenrik?
In any case, they are capable of designing top-down cards as commanders, as evidenced by Gisa and Geralf.
Whenever I fan made Innistrad legends I use the nebelgast.
Slightly off topic but I always though it would be cool to have a "Return to Kamigawa" in commanders decks.

I don't feel Ludevic would be U/B. Sure he makes monstrosities, but all of his experiments have either been blue or artifacts. He is probably the purest of scientists, and sure he may be a mad scientist, but he doesn't feel black. He's only mentioned on two non-blue/artifact, one being Grounded talking about his experiment being killed and the other being Prized Amalgam, which Geralf made with Ludevic's knowledge. Ludevic is probably the purest blue legend on the plane.

I asked Maro at one point if it would be possible to return to Kamigawa or Lowryn as the focus of a supplemental product. His reply was "Its possible." The problem is just getting Wizards to do it.

Enslow perhaps? The Kralmar?

I would love a Return to Kamigawa in Commander decks too. Mono-Blue Ninja and Soratami? Sign me up! Perhaps even Tamiyo related cards too! White for Kitsune, Black for Ratfolk and Rogues like Toshi, etc. There's unlimited potential, not to mention Legendary Spirit Dragon cycle. Or even a Conspiracy-like set taking place on Kamigawa.
I figure we'll see Serra when they swing back to Mono-Color decks. Which honestly, I prefer. 4-color was overdue though, so I am pleased with that if they turn out thematically cool. Wonder if Arixmethes will be in Return to Theros or a Commander product? Either way I'd like to see more legends in these when made, and less on the reprints. When we do get reprints I hope Serra's deck has Tragic Poet and a bunch of Serra cards (Serra's Blessing etc) in it, and is Angel and Enchantment themed.

This is actually what I had in mind when I asked the question on Blogatog. Kamigawa, Lowryn, Serra and Urza etc. are very niche characters and planes. They appeal to only a certain slice of the Magic community, and less so to the broader player base. This is also what supplemental products are. Limited run, specialty products targeted at specific subsets of players. The two seem an ideal match. I just wonder how it would be considered compared to doing a suplement on a new plane, like Fiora.

Did you learn nothing from Lorthos? If we return to Theros, Arismethes is going to kick the bucket. What about Bruna and Gisela? Obscure, secondary legends have a high fatality rate in returns. I would much rather we got commanders of them.

Uncharted realms today explained the secret of the scroll, and only opened up more questions. Tamiyo used the scroll to seal away Emrakul (which I assume was supposed to be catastrophe until it was altered) and then spoke of someone she would have to answer to now that it had been read. Who of "old magic's" history could this reference, or are they going to make up another "oldwalker" out of thin air who magically has a connection to Serra and/or the destruction of her realm?

I doubt it's Serra if that's what you're implying. I don't think she has to answer to someone specifically for the scroll she used, but for using one of the three major scrolls, which is kind of different. I would guess someone on Kamigawa, or perhaps some Planeswalker mentor, instructed her not to use those scrolls.

Definitely not Serra, but given how they're trying to slowly reexpand the story universe, I think it will be interesting to see either who they bring in or who they create.
Unfortunately, lovely Serra is no more thanks to Urza and his machinations. Considering they made Teferi, Titania, and Freyalise into commander cards, it wouldn't be out of the question to see a Serra eventually, but only in a special deck outside of the main storyline. Or another time travel block...
No, Serra is no more because she couldn't handle the grief from the loss of her husband Feroz and let a common thief kill her over her wedding band, she could have reconstituted herself easily, but she chose to disperse her essence instead. Urza had nothing to do with that one.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
I certainly hope we see old characters again. For C15 it wasn't that great when we only saw Ezuri as a past character (something tells me I'm wrong here) and he isn't all that interesting as a call back.
We also got Daxos, which sort of counts. Karlov might also get in on a technicality. Still, these weren't characters we need, like Serra, Urza, Yawgmoth, the WB Innistrad angel, Ludevic, Hal and Alena, Arismethes, Tovolar, and on and on. Seriously, Wizards has some catching to do.
I like how they can use Commander products as a way to print older characters we've gotten in stories but not on actual cards
I'm interested to see if they'll include in 4 colour releases this year
as for Serra, I'd like to see more references but we haven't been hearing of it much
Someone asked about a Serra planeswalker card during the SD Comic-Con panel. Mark Rosewater said that if there is enough demand for it, they may try to print one for a supplemental product.

...enough demand for it? Wasn't she literally the first person asked about when she didn't show up in the mono color walker commander product?

I didn't have a problem with using Nahiri as the commander for the mono white Commander. It was a good opportunity to introduce her character before the story arc in Shadows over Innistrad.

Not saying having Nahiri was bad (she does work in Isamaru edh for me), it was ultimately necessary for their continued story arc. I have more of a problem with the whole "enough demand" part personally.
Meanwhie, Nahiri can (and recently has) appeared in sets, while Serra is dead and can *only* appear in supplemental products like Commander products. Especially those that, you know, featured Oldwalkers from past lore as Commanders, many for the first time on cards.
I understand the reasoning for Nahiri and all.. but it's lame.
Well let it happen already, then? What's with this glacial pace? C15 was so disappointing and lame. C14 was the best of the whole series. I'm tired of seeing duds when we only get CMDR products once a year. At this rate it's going to take a lifetime to catch up, which isn't fair to people who have been waiting years or decades to play with these characters on cards. Especially Serra fans that are now snubbed out of a card for her because of Nahiri, who was in SOI anyway and is a modern character who can appear anywhere now, but Serra can't. Just mad lame dude. Characters getting cards should be something that occurs in every Commander product. Each deck should try to have at least once past character without a card getting one. C15 so so bland, IDK… it's upsetting.
Hindsight is 20/20, eh, Jenrik? Nahiri's inclusion was completely logical in the greater scope of things to come. At that point, we had no idea that we are going to see her again....
I agree with the sentiment on Commander 2015, though. The worst thing about it was that they COULD have made some characters into cards, but they intentionally chose to make them different - Karlov could have been Uncle Karlov, Mizzix could have been Crixizix, Anya could have been Feather, etc.

Karlov of the Ghost Council is likely uncle Karlov though, even mentions Teysa as family in his flavor text.
Anyway, people had been clamoring for "The Lithomancer" practically since she was mentioned in the Zendikar block backstory, so it made sense to pick her over Serra for the White planeswalker in the commander sets. Just like it made sense for them to pick Ob Nixilis as the black walker over, for example Leshrac or Tevesh Szat. All and all, I think they managed to give us a good mix of planeswalkers introduced in old products (Freyalise and Teferi), and those introduced to us after the mending (Daretti, Nahiri, and Ob Nixilis). And it is very likely we will get more oldwalkers in auxiliary products eventually, there are plenty of them that people want to see given Planeswalker cards, Urza and Serra not withstanding we have Leshrac, Daria, Taysir of Rabiah, Sandruu of Anaba, Tevesh Szat, Feroz, Lord Windgrace, Jeska, and many, many, more.

Nope, the story makes it clear that they are two separate individuals. Teysa sees her "Uncle"'s embalmed body in the Karlov tomb, and she addresses this Karlov as "Grandfather".
