Since we are going back to a lot of old cards, is it possible we will see reprints in the original card frame? As some kind of expedition bonus printing? We've seen foil judge promos use the old style, but that was before the whole anticounterfeiting hologram thing on the newest cards. Does that out right exclude the possibility of ever seeing a reprint in an old frame?
You know what I like to see? The planar chaos frames. They totally missed the mark when they could have released the entire Dragons of Tarkir set in Planar Chaos planeshifted frames to represent an alternate reality. Heck, they could have released Fate Reforged in the old frames. Oh well.
They printed it, and this is the part you need to understand the most, as a Judge Promo. They print them in very small numbers and only give them to judges of a certain level and up as a thank you for running events without being paid to do so. And if you had bothered to look past that card you see the seldom use the old frames even in that.
EMA is going to be just like MMA except from a larger available card pool. Also EMA was put together before BfZ and OoG was released. They don't even have all the data now to know exactly how expeditions where received by the players. They where cautious as hell about DFC's before Innistrad was release they left them out of Avacyn Restored just in case player didn't like them.
Why are people so blindly stupid to keep ignoring how WotC does things? Two year lead-in times to sets and there damn near hard-on for collecting data on things they hadn't done before. This is just as stupid as swearing that SOI was going to have expedition type cards despite the pervious business practices WotC uses every time. We will not see anymore expedition type stuff for at least another year and a half while WotC gets the data collected.

Right I get that they are Judge Promos, but it seems to contradict what, I can only assume, Zeta was trying to get at.
What evidence do you have that they are printing EMA exactly like MMA? Was this stated somewhere? As for expeditions, maybe you are right. But that doesn't have to be the only avenue for old bordered cards, like stated already, we've seen old frames in Time Spiral.
Finally, I don't really follow what Wizards does with their products, but I was curious to know if anyone who actually does had any information on the subject. So while I appreciate your reply, I don't exactly appreciate the tone in which you stated it in. We're both adults hear, and if you can't give me the respect to respond to me like an adult, in the future, just don't reply to my posts at all.

I love these too.
I have most PC Planeshifted cards in foil, including Damnation
(which I much prefer to the "normal" version we see on the Promo).
At least we still get an echo of it on the back of DFCs.

it looks especially gorgeous on Horizon Canopy.

We already have 2 cards from eternal masters, both of which were printed originally in old frame. If they were going to do it, why wouldn't they have done it on Wasteland and Force?

Good point, I know that they have printed an old frame foil of Wasteland, but never Force. Personally I don't know what they would select to actually do old frames on.
yeah, it's not going to happen. The old frame is dead and gone, only to ever be seen again for very special, small level printing.
The only problem with the frames from future sight, is that it limits their development. How would you have a Progenitus or khalni hydra printed on it, when the frame only allows for 6 spots for CMC?
I'm sure we'll see old frame sometime. They have their fans. Infact, I wouldn't be surprised if they do it for eternal masters 2 or something. I don't personally see the appeal and I started with old frames, but maybe they'll do it, although, would the silver mark ruin the appeal if they slapped it on the old frame?

No, not after the new-new-frame, I don't believe we will see the old frame ever again.
The post-8th Edition frame change was purely cosmetic, but the whole point of the post-Origins frame is to have machine-readable text on the bottom and to put the holo-stamp on rares. After doing such a change, they won't print non-readable and stamp-less cards just for nostalgia's sake.

Sadly this.
I love the old frames and hate the aesthetic of the 8th edition frame. I get why they have made the changes to the frames, and the white on black machine readable print at the bottom of the post Khans versions is actually just fantastic. I just don't think that the text bubbles are appealing visually at all.
I do think, at some point, (if they really want this format to reach new players) a reprint of original dual lands in "EXPEDITION" form and rarity for EMA2/EMA3. Also, they will sell those as fast as hot bread. It wouldnt decrease the price from the originals one that bad. Maybe Im just completely wrong, but Im sure that someone in the wizzards office at least thought about it

I wasn't around for planar chaos so I never knew what those alt frames were called but man are planeshifted frames gorgeous imo. They just really pop. Although, I think the blue frame might be just a tinge too light but it is sort of a nice change from the normal deep blue.

PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

Is this a non-mod telling us what to do? I think it is.
You don't have to be a mod to recognize and point out when people are being foolish or irrational. There is no reason why someone on here should be ignorant of the reserved list policies, considering the website you're on. And yet, people insist on continuing to waste time discussing the possibility of reserved list cards getting reprinted, despite WotC showing no signs of ever repealing the reserved list.

I think it's more that people forget what cards are on the list, at least in my case. For example the other day I forgot that Cursed Scroll was on that list.

This. I do not know every reserved card right away. And if you want to be helpful at least try it instead of being like this. Posting a link is way more productive than telling someone to stop discussing about "the dream". If you don´t want to discuss it then don´t do it.
Back on topic: I don´t tink this will happen. Looking at the spoiled cards it looks like the card frames are set already. Maybe in a later set. but probably not in EMA.
Not realizing that "Lurker" or "Goblin Wizard" were on the reserved list is one thing. Suggesting a dual land reprint is another thing entirely.
Might as well ask why wizards didn't consider reprint the moxen or black lotus during Mirrodin's block.
While unnecessarily harsh I can definitely see his point.
On topic: While a I know a few people who like the old frame, I believe most prefer the new(er) on(es). Myself included.
Of course people aren't going to remember every single card on the reserved list. (I forgot that Lurker even existed, much less that it was on the reserved list.) But my point is that you can easily look this sort of thing up, but people frequently don't.

Nobody is going to look up the reserve list everytime they post. It would be a tremendous waste of time, and I seriously hope that isn't expected of this forum.
Of course they are going for the newer card frame. It's their only solution to counter counterfeits by having the foil dot on rares & mythics, and even this is not enough.

Just for argument's sake, what would stop them from being able to adapt the old frame to accommodate that foil, allowing them to use said version of the old frame on special occasions? Not saying it is likely, or even going to happen, but on a technical level, it would be relatively easy.... ?

Wow, does such hyperbole come naturally to you, or do you have to put effort into making such mountains out of molehills? Nobody needs to look up the reserved list with every single post, unless they're making reprint suggestions with literally every post. (Though I would hope that if you're referencing the reserved list so often, you'd just naturally end up memorizing most of it.) And even then, only if you're talking about pre-modern rares.
Also, it's not like this is some herculean task I'm asking of people. Type "reserved list" into Google, click on the first result that comes up, and Ctrl+F to find the card you're thinking of. Such a detour won't take you more than a minute, even with a slow internet connection. If you've got enough time to screw around on a fan site for a card game, then you've got time to do a tiny bit of research.
