my gut feeling is that between this, ftv, and conspiracy, a good amount of stuff will be reprinted and the EV of these sets actually won't be too bad. there are sooooo many cards that need a reprint; there will be plenty of extra cards to throw into an eternal masters 2 even if the set is overly generous. i also suspect that they want to make a new unreserved eternal format, and these sets are a good way to jump start the format.
or it could just be a set to sell commander and cube cards like everyone has been saying. still, at the very least, i expect the quality to be worse than mm1 but better than mm2. mm1 was too good and some stores were selling above msrp. mm2 was pretty poor. i think they will get better with making these types of sets over time.
I think it will be a kick in the face if tarmogoyf is in this set. He has been reprinted 2 times already. No need to make him the Giant Spider of Masters sets. Granted it holds more value. Cards I am hopeful for are cards like aether vial, show and tell and sneak attack. They support a draft strategy style. I highly doubt we would get all 3, Vial supports decks with small creatures, Sneak and Show both support bomb decks. All support creature combat which is exactly what Wizards wants to see people play.

Having a hard time thinking this set will include Modern-legal cards... where is the incentive to not save those for the next Modern Masters? My guess is this will be like VMA, minus the reserve list cards.

There are indeed modern-legal cards first printed way back to alpha, just because It has a modern reprint does not mean It cant't shine in other formats, such as commander, vintage, pauper and others
You're absolutely right. But I still think that this is clearly the paper answer to the strong success of VMA on Magic Online... and that product included no modern legal cards. We'll know soon enough, I suppose!

Hmm, there are 18 possible lands to take 249 (wasteland is 248), and some are unlikely since they are from shadows over innistrad or would break up a cycle. Any thoughts.

I agree that it's unlikely we'll see Modern STAPLES (as those will likely be held back for other sets, most notably MM3 - MM∞). That said, I don't think EMA will literally exclude any and all Modern-legal cards. Stuff like Bolt or Giant Growth are very much live, though maybe less likely.
They won't reprint every damm thing that is trully playable right away, they will milk most of it with EM2 and a possible
Kevin Saffles (owner of Derium's CCGs, easily in the top 3 of the most successful shops in Ohio) said on his podcast that EMA isn't being printed or promoted heavily. So... sequels are far from a guarantee. If anything, expect them to do it like a more under-the-radar MM1. Good EVs, some restrictions based on timeline--less here than there, I'd bet--and not clear indication of (or plans for) another go round. Obviously they'll take note if this thing is a smash hit, but they're not expecting it to be.
Not sure if it helps the case or hurts it, but Wizards was trying to fit inquisition of Kosilek in Oath. I would hope that when they determined it wouldnt fit in Oath, they then put it in EMA. I just hope it doesnt get a bump in rarity.
Source? (Also, I love when WotC gives us cop-outs like these for not reprinting cards.)
Just checking back. So much hopes, interestingly, some real close shots at mythic.
wish WotC actually reads this when or if EM2 is being designed and gives better commons, also, more playable than cool rares next set. All in all, I believe we got more than thought at first, but some let downs with the average cards.
looks like another garbage cash grab with little substance even more so than MM2015. The whole set is filled with obscure cards that no one asked for (i'm looking at you goblin trenches) and any solid uncommons set at rare. The 5-10 cards in teh set worth anything do not justify the $10MSRP and the $15IRL prices of these lottery tickets.

What in your opinion is the correct price to charge per pack of this set taking into consideration both the value of cards and the limited printing of the set? Others can chime in too with what they think is fair for a pack.

i'd probably pay 6 dollars with the useless chaff thats filling up the set but i would not be opposed to paying 10-12 if it had more substance like the the first MM print run. I understand that Wasteland, force of will, top ect are valuable cards and will probably remain so but there wizards is knowingly filling the packs with .50-3 dollar cards in the rare slot of packs that retail at $15.
On the other hand, I am the guy who is still butthurt about Mythic Rares being introduced in Shards and losing foils in Lorwyn block.

Virtually no chance. Masters sets generally include 0 - 2 'walkers max. (This isn't a Core Set.)
I'm officially proposing we retire the word "insane" from the MtG vocabulary.
