Alright, I'm going to make a borderline-crazy speculation.
Let's look at what MaRo said:

First, yes, Battle for Zendikar will be the return of full-art lands. I’ve seen them and you’re all in for a real treat.
Second, Battle for Zendikar does have a cool rare cycle of dual lands, but they’re brand new designs and not the Zendikar fetch lands.
As a WotC-employee Maro obviously isn't allowed to say anything negative about an upcoming product - only positive things. So given that this is the case, what is the worst thing he would be allowed to say about the land-cycle (i.e. the most important cards in the set for many players)? Yeah, the worst thing he would be allowed to say is probably that they're "cool". He didn't say "powerful", he didn't say "awesome" or anything like that. Just cool.
I'm speculating the lands won't be modern playable.

I hardly think MaRo's definition of awesomeness has much to do with modern playability. He loves uncomplicated, innovative designs and doesn't care much for powerlevel.
But MaRo knows exactly that a large portion of his audience cares for powerlevel - because as much as he doesn't care about it, at the end of the day only the powerful cards will see play, good design or not. I'm just saying that if those lands were really powerful he wouldn't have missed the opportunity to create some more hype for the set.

That still doesn't matter to MaRo, he makes cards he enjoys playing with (or to fill a hole in the Design Skeleton), but he never cared for power level. As MaRo would say "That is a development issue, not a design one". And power level is very much a development issue (and even development makes mistakes from time to time, letting incredibly powerful cards through, such as Arcbound Ravager.)

Enter the battlefield tapped with 3 COUNTER_NAME on it.
tap remove a COUNTER_NAME: add a or b then if there is no COUNTER_NAME on Dying land exile it then put a land token with "tap add 1 to your mana pool" on the battlefield tapped.

They will see competitive play, but I would venture that the less-powerful cards easily see ten times as much play thanks to casual players.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
When they get spoiled come back and site me. I honestly don't care if you don't believe me i'm just leaking the things I do know. Cycle of allied Dual lands, r/g omnath, and a gideon who is an Alley
and yes, they are awful in modern. but they are duals

I don't think Wizards will print a very good land cycle that's fetchable. however, i can see then printing simple fetchable lands as commons or uncommons. Something like guildgates with both basic types instead of gate status.
Yeah, no. Dual lands with basic land types will not happen at uncommon. With or without "ETB tapped", as they would basically be "fetchable dual 5-8" in modern.
Turn #1: Play fetch.
Opponents turn #1: Fetch uncommon dual.
Turn #2: Untap uncommon dual, play shock land. Access to two mana of both colors in your deck. >.<
As opposed to fetching a shockland turn one and playing a shockland turn two... ? I don't get how this could break modern. I don't see many deck needing more than 4 fetchable duals of the same color combination.
Gidoeon cost 4 mana. 4 loyalty when he comes in. Omnath is either 5 or 6 I can't remember off the top of my head. The duals do have basic land types, yes, that's why they're called duals. ha
Swampy forest
Land - Forest T: add G to you Mana pool. T: add B to you Mana pool. You may activate this ability only if you control at least 2 Forests.
New take on duals that works with fetches (hopefully in BfZ2)
That's strictly better than a basic Forest so I doubt very much it's going to happen.
T: add 1 to your mana pool
T: add UR to your mana pool, you lose 2 life.
because WHY NOT?
Because it's strictly better than Ancient Tomb. Have you ever played with Ancient Tomb and concluded "Yeah, this is really not strong enough. We need something better"?
are there not already rare land that are strictly better then their basic counterparts?

The difference is that you would have access to eight targets rather than four. Dual lands with basic land types are not going to happen at uncommon. After all, they sell packs, and WotC sells more packs if the cards everyone wants are rare.

There are. Except that Ancient Tomb is amazing and would be overpowered in Standard/Modern. Giving you the ability to tap without pain AND tap for color would mean you're looking at one of the most busted lands ever made.
gideon's plus one makes him an alley, 5/5 indestrucitable creature, pretty typical gideon ability. his ultimate is glorious anthem emblem which he can activate for his 4 loyalty the turn he comes out.

The only lands that are strictly better than basics (in modern) are legendary and have VERY small advantages that are useless except in very few decks (Pendelhaven, for example). Strictly better non-legendary isn't in the books, if I remember MaRo's statement correctly.

I'll call fake or troll because 1) you "forgot" an ability 2) Gideon tranformation should not be a +1 because unless it grant haste in WHITE it does nothing the turn it enter.

Umm, every Gideon that's ever been printed has a transformation ability that "does nothing" the turn it enters because it doesn't grant haste. As always, there are plenty of reasons to be skeptical of this leaker, but that shouldn't be one of them.

The big problem is the fact that it is a +1 not a 0 so this Gideon as the option to go down or go up and do nothing. I'm not sure Wizard want to print sometime like this.
1. Ally colored
2. "Fetch" with the new "reveal" mechanic rather than "search your library"
3. "Fetch" with life gain for opponent
4. "Fetch" that you pay life and then exile the land
That's what I'm assuming here.
