The big drawback to a tribal theme is commitment; if you want the theme to work consistently, you need a certain percentage of cards in your deck that support the theme. Elspeth's deck had a Soldier tribal subtheme, yes, mainly because the face card of the deck pumped Soldier tokens out like a candy factory, making it a fairly easy theme to support. It helps that Soldiers have been featured in many Magic sets. Allies don't have that privilege, and their specific tribal theme is "the more Allies you play, the better this card is". If they want an Ally theme in the Zendikar deck, they're gonna have to commit a good portion of the deck to Ally tribal.
Granted, the Zendikar deck may well be GW, in which case at least the list is narrowed down to the two most Ally-heavy colors, which I suppose means it could be a subtheme of the deck. And we know Allies are coming back in BfZ, so perhaps they will include just enough in the Zendikar deck to count as a functional promotion. One or two Rare Allies could help spearhead the theme; Talus Paladin and Turntimber Ranger come to mind as two of the best, though given a choice of one I'd choose the Paladin.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
I think I got the Eldrazi deck down... At least I hope. I'd really like them to give one last nod to the old Eldrazi and give us some really good cards from it. I could see them throwing Emrakul In as the mythic, especially because he's only about 24$ now and they've been including more expensive cards in duel decks (Elsepth vs Kiora). Plus an alternate Art Emrakul (or any of the Titans, honestly). I think Red Green is what they'd end up doing (maybe black too?) as it has the most Eldrazi support.
If I was really pushing it I would ask for All is Dust and Eldrazi Temple too, but I don't want to get carried away 😂
Well, after seeing the spoiled face cards, I am puzzled as to what cards we will see in the Duel Decks. I am hoping we will still see some of these cards reprinted:
The thing with allies is that most of the cards work standalone. You could have, say, 30% of your creatures be allies and it would still work well enough as a mechanic. It worked all right in limited for me, at least. Of course it won't be that effective but duel decks have never exactly been tournament material.
I don't think we should get our hopes up for the eldrazi cards in the eldrazi deck. I doubt we'll get Emrakul. I can see us getting some of the milder common ones like Hand of Emrakul or Crusher and an original or 2 like that new guy we've seen that eats lands, for the most part at least. I'm definitely hoping for at least one It that Betrays, since it seems like a lot of fun, but we're only going to be getting so many rares, and only so many of those will be creatures. You can expect most eldrazi titans to be commons/uncommons.
We're definaitely getting at least 1 legendary. The choices are Emrakul (probably not happening), Kozilek (draw 4), and Ulamog (indestructible). I think I'd like Ulamog the most, but something about Kozilek is making me think it's him.

The face card of the Eldrazi deck is Oblivion Sower. Chances to get an Eldrazi titan as a "normal" card of the 60? More or less 0% ... we're "definitely" not getting a Legendary Eldrazi in this product, or at least not one of the three mentioned: if there's a new specific Eldrazi character (probably far less powerful) they're likely to introduce, that's possible, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Are we for real having Oblivion Sower as the cover card? That's... kinda weak. I guess it does make sense, since I don't think they want any of their titans to become easy to obtain, but man that's pretty weak.
The point you made about other legendaries is interesting. Could any of the spawn one day grow up into something more...?
I don't know if it's legit or not, but from these pics, as far as I can tell, it confirms: It That Betrays, Consume the Meek (new art, I think), Stirring Wildwood and Primal Command (new art).
Whoa great find!
Also two new creatures. The one on the right costs 4 mana I think, 2 colorless, 1G and 1W. It's effect is something along the lines of: "insert name of creature" 's power and toughness are both equal to the number of "something" you control.
The other creature I can't decipher at all. Anyone who has better eyes than me, feel free to step in and correct me or add something that I can't read.
