Speaking of which, I am about 85% certain that Buyback will show up in Battle for Zendikar. Mostly because it works so well with Tarkir block mechanics.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
As a player who rocked a UR Kiln Fiend deck for a while, I can say that Distortion Strike is ridiculously good and that extra +1/+0 would make Taigam's Strike even more ridiculous if not for the perceived extra or . Prey's Vengeance vs. Artful Maneuver is a case of green simply being better than white at size pump, like how green gets Titanic Growth and white gets Show of Valor. I suppose you also wish to compare Center Soul to Emerge Unscathed? At any rate, Ojutai is a more control-oriented faction which means its early game plays want to be permission or removal; the aggro-beneficent rebound spells are meant to help your finishers, well, finish the game. Let's not forget we have Prowess creatures in KTK and FRF as well as pseudo-Prowess in DTK to literally add more punch to your spells.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
I want unearth but only if it's at the same or stronger level of Alara. Not like how rebound was weakened in dragons.
Rebound wasn't weakened in Dragons, it was just on different spells than in Rise. Also, it works very well with Prowess.
Taigam's Strike vs Distortion Strike. Not to mention Artful Maneuver vs Prey's Vengeance. It's removal is also worse in this set. Mechanics in Dragons were not pushed as much as Extort or overload was.
The meta-game has changed since then, which sometimes leads to higher casting cost. Rise came about in a very fast metagame, and the spells back then reflect that. Also, for the last two, different colored spells. Green gets creature pump cheaper than other colors.

Origins is said to have two new mechanics, which Unearth would not count as. Zendikar is not heavy on necromancy the way Innistrad or Grixis are; not to say there isn't some as evidenced by the vampires and null, but I don't see a green-influenced world putting a big focus on necromancy as a mechanic. A future Phyrexia or Innistrad block, I can see getting Unearth. Indeed, I could see Innistrad 2 rotating Flashback and Undying out for Unearth while keeping Morbid and/or transforming DFCs.

Buyback was originally in Journey into Nyx, but ultimately cut because development thought it was too powerful, presumably in conjunction with Tarkir block mechanics. But I'd love to see it back.
Maro insists that it feels Golgari, but I've often thought that it fits Rakdos better. At any rate, when Unearth finally does come back it will probably be in a set where every color gets it just like every color gets Flashback.

No. Maro is definitely right about Unearth feeling Golgari. Golgari is all about recycling, and that is basically what Unearth is. You are recycling the creature for one final go. Rakdos is all about hedonism, attacking fast and hard without heed to the future, using up whatever resources they have immediately (thus Hellbent and Unleash).

Maro said that they tried to bring Buyback in Journey To Nyx but it was too powerful so they had to scrap it which leads me to believe we won't be getting it back in constructed anytime soon.

It may have been to powerful for RTR/Theros block, but that does not necessarily mean that it is to powerful for the Battle for Zendikar standard.

Unearth grants haste, which is primary red, secondary black, and tertiary green, and it brings the creature back for one turn, a temporary return fitting of red. Not to mention Rakdos does still use some necromancy as evidenced by its skeletons and zombies, and Unearth is short-lived necromancy. I won't deny that Golgari is the second-most appropriate guild for the mechanic, but I think Rakdos is more appropriate still. At any rate, Golgari would get Delve before Unearth as Delve is about the most straightforward example of using the graveyard as a resource. And Undying is more fitting for Golgari than Unearth as it brings the creature back potentially for more than one turn and makes it stronger to boot.

It all depends on how the spells are costed. Something like Capsize (six mana to bounce any permanent) at common is probably to powerful, but something like Whispers of the Muse (six mana to draw a card) is probably fine. And that is if we are talking straight up reprints. Most likely if the mechanic comes back, it will primarily be new spells, and costed appropriately to the power level of the game at the time.
