I like the idea being something like Jace, the Living Guildpact +1 ability. Something like "ABILITY 2- To ABILITY two, look at the top two cards of your library, then put any number of these cards in your graveyard and the rest back on top of your library in any order."
The above is a mechanic a friend and I created for a set we made, we called it Voodoo. Might not be word for word, but you should get the idea. It basically functions like Scry. So a card could be something like:
Instant
Target creature gets -2/-2 until end of turn. Voodoo 1.
Lets look at what was said, " he will work well... in a different way." I recall somewhere it being stated Wizards wants the mechanics from one set in the block to have some synergy with how they change in the later set in the block. So, he is cast from the yard if you own a black or green permanent. He also cannot be blocked or block. Ninjitsu would be cool but it seems more Jeskai than anything else, and I don't see synergy with the delve mechanic. Delve takes resources from the yard to cast things, and reanimate takes things from the yard to use them too, but they don't go well together because one exiles things from the yard while the other puts them in play. In magic's history, cards like buried alive would go great with delve, and marang river prowler so it would be awesome if we got cards that searched your library to dump things into the yard. In the end, my guess is wizards would not want to give us another buried alive and instead would like us to play around with sack outlets. Right now the card is good in being a hard to deal with threat because it comes back quite easily. He would also work well "in a different way" if he were a sack outlet and sacking things fills your graveyard which works well with delve. So my vote goes towards us getting a sacrifice matters mechanic. Tasigur, the Golden Fang in the end "sacrificed" himself to the dragon in the Wizards story, so maybe he started a trend of appeasement that continues to the new present.

Or..
A Cryptic Annelid type creature would be cool
When Cryptic Annelid's Friend enters the battlefield, Voodoo 1, then Voodoo 2, then Voodoo 3.
Combines blacks graveyard infatuation with blues prescience AND works well with Marang River Prowler
