I don't think this is going to go the way we (Sarkhan) want(s) it to. Mark rosewater on his Tumblr has constantly been dropping hints the past few months that he would never choose to travel back in time as it always has unintended consequences. Considering the effect and art of Crux of Fate, I think that Sarkhan won't be able to save Ugin. However, he will kill Bolas in a weakened state thereby changing a whole lot of stuff but not getting exactly what he wanted. Thoughts?
For one, we know the "Face the Hydra" type deck for Fate Reforged is called something like "Heal Ugin".
Also, killing Bolas would result in a Paradox, because if Bolas was never around to send Sarkhan to Zendikar to meddle with the Hedrons, Sarkhan would never have had Ugin's voice in his head and would never have traveled back in time in the first place.
My guess is that there WILL be unintended consequences, but I don't think this is the right line of reasoning.

I dont think that they will kill Bolas, he other than Phyrexia is the only true bad guy we have and he does a good job of it. Plus Bolas is well stronger then Ugin and Sarkhan I dont think can close that gap. But like previously stated I think Sarkhan stops the killing blow and heals Ugin.

IF that is indeed Ugin and not Intent in disguise: Sarkhan could still wind up on Zendikar by following his original goal of finding a dragon worthy of his reverence...and a dragon whose voice comes to him across the depths of time and space would be a dragon worth following. So Sarkhan DOES still end up on Zendikar and inadvertently meddles with the hedrons. Natch baby!
Let's be realists: wizards don't want to change the fate of the whole multiverse, only the fate of Tarkir.
So the less they mess with outside of Tarkir, the best.
First come the goblins. Hordes of them. But soon the ramp produced by xenagos attracts monstrous token-producing hydras. Towering over the battlefield, these 12-headed killing machines are protected 2 archetypes of endurance as they crash any resistence left

The paradox is solved through creating an alternate timeline though.
Friend of mine suggested, with Ugin's voice in his head...what if Ugin is trapped inside of Sarkhan somehow? Makes a very good point, Sarkhan transforming into a dragon...etc...it was of course baseless speculation but a good theory in my opinion...
This may be irrelevant, but wasn't Ajani the only neowalker able to match Bolas and drive him out of Alara. While Sarkhan is cool and dragon themed wouldn't it make more sense for Ugin to look for Ajani and bring him back in time to get rid of Bolas once and for all? I know that a lot of it had to do with the maelstrom, but on the same note Bolas was powered by the maelstrom as well.
Mr. Vol saves Ugin, Nicol Bolas survives and runs away like a coward, then they go forward to Dragons of Tarkir and the surviving/flourishing dragon and khan communities unite with Ugin to battle Nicol Bolas and maybe kill him or imprison him in dry ice or something. Bam.
I fully expect both to survive. Not only for the block, but the foreseeable future. It's already been established that Nicol Bolas has a bunch of schemes planned, and to have them go unrealized would waste all the set up and story arcs they've set up. Similarly, to not have Ugin survive would undermine the story of the block, and leave the Eldrazi story line with no leads.
However, aside from just changing Tarkir, I hope there are many more consequences. Personally, even though it would never happen, I'd like to see Mirrodin survive the Phyrexians somehow. It was, and still is, my favorite plane. Also, maybe a planeswalker or two could have their colors changed or something. The bottom line is, I hope they do more with the time travel story, especially since MaRo recently said that time travel will not be featured as a future plot device again anytime soon, if ever, so I hope there are some lasting effects.

1) ugin dies, bolas leaves, sarkhan revives ugin
2) ugin dies, bolas leaves, sarkhan fails to revive him
3) sarkhan dies, ugin dies, Bolas leaves

Kill Nicol Bolas and you pretty much destroyed the last part of magics history that is left in the game.
