Any other people think that we will be returning to Zendikar shortly? Like either the next block or the one after? Sorin is on Tarkir seeking Ugin because the Eldrazi have been freed and are going to start *cough* annihilating worlds. Seems like a pretty logical next step story wise. Thoughts?
It's possible.
The Eldrazi storyline involves so many Planeswalkers
it probably wouldn't be possible to fit them all in a single, two set Block.
They may be telling Sorin, Sarkhan, and Ugin's part here,
leaving Gideon, Nissa, and Kiora (and maybe Chandra or Jace) for RTZ.
They might even split RTZ up over two small blocks since it's such a significant plot line.

A dual block RtZ would be ambitious. I'm interested in seeing how everything ties together in KTK to see how they're going to make the jump. Or if we are going to return to a Zendikar of "we're screwed" in that block. Either way is cool.
It's pretty likely, and soon. I don't really like "return" stuff to much as it sort of rehashes old worlds for me. RTR for example, while a very cool set to play with, was a little stale for me flavor-wise.
But yes. Wizards wants to sell cards. The Ugin seeding on Tarkir is no mistake. We will see Zendikar again soon. Nissa and Soul of Zendikar in M15 makes me think it might just be the next thing, too.
The hints are definitely there. Khans is essentially part 2 of the Eldrazi storyline; Ugin, Sarkhan and Sorin are all showing up, Bolas and the Lithomancer (now known to be Nahiri, a Kor from Zendikar) are being referenced, and Nissa's UR suggested that Zendikar is not beyond saving.
I wonder how many planeswalkers they'll have to cram into that set. Sorin, Ugin, Nahiri, Kiora, Gideon, and Nissa are all intimately tied to the Eldrazi storyline. Chandra, Jace, Ramaz, Sarkhan, and Bolas had a hand in it the first time. And we still haven't gotten to Ob Nixilis, who looks to be at the center of Zendikar Pt. 2.
the Lithomancer (now known to be Nahiri, a Kor from Zendikar)
Was that confirmed?
I can see them making something like they did with Dominaria or like 3 blocks about the past, present and future of Zendikar. With all the zillions planeswalkers that were involved with it. :B

More or less. The new UR mentions that Sorin would have been expecting her and Ugin to answer his call, were she not "gone". Doug Beyer also strongly implied it in a new blog post.
I see 4 main possibilities for handling Return to Zendikar:
1. Focus the Eldrazi threat elsewhere, or spread it across multiple planes so as to be a peripheral threat in the new block
2. Your suggestion: spread RTZ out over multiple blocks.
3. Have RTZ be a direct continuation from Khans block, so as not to need to make new planewalker cards for Sorin, Sarkhan, etc.
4. Bite the bullet and do RTZ with a bare minimum of planeswalkers, letting everyone else go off and do their own thing.
I'm fairly confident that Return to Zendikar is going to be one of the two blocks in 2016. As to which block it is, the first or the second, I'll hold off on speculating until we see where the end of Khans block leaves us, storywise. Currently, it certainly seems like it could lead directly into the Return to Zendikar. I'm hoping the new system will allow them to do storylines that flow seamlessly from one block to the next.
I honestly, there isn't a plane we're more likely to return to. That said we still have to see how the current blocks story resolves, It's hard to tell if we jump straight from here to Return to Zendikar
or if there's room for something in between.
A Time Travel Retcon could really shakeup everything we think we know.
There is no M16, m15 was the last core set. Also I am betting that since KTK gave us onslaught fetches, that we will get Zendi Fetch reprints next year so as to have all 10 in standard at once, as well as bringing down the obnoxious prices.

We're still getting another core set to round out Khans block and then the new block model starts fall next year.

Ironically, Ob Nixilis's UR suggested that Zendikar is not beyond danger even if the Eldrazi situation is solved

The colorless them in Ktk seems like evidence for the eldrazi, however I think that the fall block will be set on a plane the eldrazi are just entering before we trace them to their source in rtz.

They need room in the storyline for a Return to return to Zendikar Block
Yeah, that is true.
Anyway, I really wonder whether Zendikar is really as popular as people here claim, besides "OMGOMGFETCHES!!!1!!!11!!".
If the ZEN fetches are reprinted in Louie, how many people (besides the storyline aficionados) really give a damn afterwards whether and when we are going to Zendikar or not? Pretty much the sole reason why there were craploads of "Return to Zendikar?" threads in past 4 years were again ONLY the fetchlands.
I agree nevertheless that Zendikar has currently the most potential for being returned to, with its cliffhanger fate and numerous hints.
I cannot imagine going back to Dominaria now...it was just too big and too diverse to have a consistent feeling of a plane as it is a custom now. Time Spiral block was kind of able to pull it thanks to the postapo theme, but now?

Its "return", not " retread." Very few reprints anyone actually cares about made it in the last two instances: like RTR, fetch reprints would consume most of the slots here. Setting and mechanical themes that resonated with casuals is what sells these return sets more than spike nostalgia (cause tournament players just loved mirrordin right?)
I think it's way too early for this, but I could still totally see Wizards doing it. We were just in Zendikar only a little while back, so I would rather some other "Return" blocks first. As much as I want enemy fetch reprints and full-art lands, I really would rather wait a little while before returning there.

Return to Zendikar would probably be the closest thing to a planeswalker block we will ever see, with 8-10 planeswalker spread in the two sets

I think Return to Zendikar will be a spring block. I think this because I also think that the Magic movie will involve Zendikar. I think resolving the Zendkar story in 2 sets is ambitious so I think they will have the second set be a cliffhanger only concluded by the movie and 95% of the ad cards in the blocks boosters will be for said movie. "Want the thrilling conclusion to Battle for Zendikar? Be sure to see the Magic Movie out in Theaters on XX/XX/20XX!" Would piss a lot of people off but would also sell a lot of movie tickets.

I highly doubt the Magic movie will be aimed at current players.
I doubt it will require any prior knowledge of the game, characters, or worlds. I especially doubt it will be tying up loose ends from a block.
You can be pretty certain it will introduce and focus on a few high-profile characters (most likely Jace, most likely the Lorwyn 5), possibly meeting and coming together against a common threat (most likely Bolas).

In my opinion, the only way that that's different from the usual process is that more people are likely to see a movie than to buy the books to find the ending. One of the benefits of the new rotation is that it suits their storytelling style much better; you might expect that a three-set block would neatly slot into a three-act story but in practice (for a variety of reasons) they rarely followed through on that (Scars of Mirrodin being probably the best counter-example, they were fortunate to be able to have New Phyrexia to explore as a third-set epilogue rather than a true denouement, which is hard to portray across an entire set's worth of cards). There's nothing about Zendikar specifically that prevents its story from being told in the same format, narrative norms don't really change with scale, so a set 1 (re)introduction followed by a set 2 conflict will lead, as usual, into an expanded universe denouement. Whether that's a book or a movie doesn't really matter, even under the old rotation it would never realistically have been a set.
