So with Commander 2014 announced, we can expect some powerful monocolored spells. We can also expect some interesting reprints. What reprints do you think we will see in these decks? What new cards will we see in these decks? Any cycles left to finish? What cards does EDH need reprinted and recreated? What cards should be made do EDH? This is an open discussion so feel free to speculate!
My Speculations:
- A Card that let's you cast your commander from your command zone for it's original cost at the cost of some other payment. Perhaps an artifact or a land?
- An artifact that works well together lands or ramp in all colors.
- Cards where a certain basic land type matters.
I've said it to death in every reprint thread ever, but: Skyshroud Claim.
It's arguably the best ramp spell for EDH,
and they have yet to reprint it *once*.
Foils are obscenely costly even though it's a Common that's only played in EDH.
On a more selfish front- Stasis.
I've wanted it in Modern Frame longer than any other card,
and it would fit perfectly in Teferi's deck.
Also, major " yes" on Divining Top.
They've let it spiral out of control.

You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.
I said this on another thread, but I would be surprise if they didn't reprint one of the uber expensive Time Warp variants from Portal (Capture of Jingzhou and/or Temporal Manipulation). I think it seems very fitting for Teferi's deck, named Peer Through Time. Here are a few "wish list" cards, because they most likely aren't going to see a reprint:
really need a reprint in this kind of product because they're huge staples that are played in nearly every deck that can run them. All but the last two are pretty expensive and even Greaves/Ring are creeping back up in price despite multiple reprints.
I've been thinking about cards that aren't available in MTGO, of which Conspiracy added a number recently. Vintage Masters brought those that may be relevant for tournament play online but there are still a number that are relevant to Commander and would therefore make logical inclusions in a Commander product
The following cards from Conspiracy were not in Vintage Masters and are not draft matters/conspiracies:
Obviously the multicoloured ones (included for completeness) are not options in this set, and we can probably exclude Brago's Representative and Grudge Keeper for being too closely tied to Will of the Council, but everything else on the list seems like a potential reprint to me. I'm especially interested in Custodi Soulbinders and Ignition Team, the other members of that cycle were in Vintage Masters (are they played in Vintage/Legacy? That inclusion itself seems odd to me but I'm not an expert on those formats) yet these were strangely left out. Might this indicate an intention to reprint them soon?
Maybe Energy Field? I don't know. Blue has gotten a lot of sweet reprints already.
Demonic Tutor. Let's face it - this is a staple in every black deck. It's one of the most beloved cards of all time among black players, and even with a reprint it is becoming scarce. Between this and Duel Decks Anthology, maybe the price will come back to a more reasonable level.
Gamble. This card is amazing fun and needs to come back.
Sylvan Library. They did a foil for Commander's Arsenal. They can do a nonfoil for the green deck.
Mana Vault. Seriously, this needs a reprint. There's no reason it should be a $10+ card.
EDH/Commander is a social format, right? So why don't people use their social skills to discuss what they like and don't like, instead of adopting a list with 60+ banned cards?

We know there will be 337 total cards printed with the set symbol, including 61 new cards, 15 in each deck. That leaves room for 276 reprints. My estimates:
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
In this Article of today, there is a new Image/Artwork by Daniel Ljunggren, with the unline Smokestack. Magiccards-Info lists Smokestack to be part of VintageMasters, but with the old image, and I am not sure about how the card is shown online. But might this be a hint, that this card will get a new image and reprint in the next Commander Set?

Never trust the images that spoiler sites (Gatherer included) give for online-only sets. Smokestack has the new art in Vintage Masters and FTV.
I'm still crossing my fingers for White to have Serra as the planeswalker commander, and have a brand new awesome art Serra Angel as one of the cards, which they'll also start using in some core sets when Serra Angel is reprinted, giving players another variety of Serra Angel art to play with. Also, for one of Serra's abilities to create Serra Angel tokens (4/4 angels with flying and vigilance).
I'm also hoping that white has an enchantment subtheme, green has a land sub-theme, black has a sorcery sub-theme, red has an instant sub-theme, and blue has an artifact sub-theme, and each has one or two cards that benefit from using that sub-theme or help tutor or recover it from the graveyard or something.
I'm also hoping that red will get Chaos Warp and that both red and black will have some artifact based answers (in addition to chaos warp for red) for enchantments and artifacts.
I'm hoping that each of the colors will touch on some elements of their flavor and color pie that are rarely seen:
White - cards related to it's focuses on planning, reason, perfection, ethics (as opposed to morality formed of it), truth, and grace
Blue - cards related to it's focuses on self-contemplation, bringing out the best in self and surroundings, and bringing out potential, mastery of possibility, mastery of essence, and suppression of emotion
Black - cards related to it's focuses on personal freedom (rather than general freedom or ability to act more randomly of red), it's overcoming of shame, it's overcoming of humility, nullification, and personal independence
Red - cards related to it's focuses on creativity (particularly art, music, acting etc.), passion (particularly love, friendship, family, romantic, and erotic, which are rarely touched on), laughter, crying, finding joy in life, breaking the status quo, being the enemy of censorship and restrictions and rules (perhaps introducing some cards that deliberately break certain rules of the game?), love of adventure, spiritual/physical growth, individualism (over groups, even non-personal, unlike black), charisma, gambling, and randomness
Green - cards related to it's focuses on interdependence, instinct, defending oneself against threats, love of natural things, and tendency towards hoarding/gathering/protection of resources
Hoping also for some decent hexproof critters in green and blue, at least one indestructible creature in white, at least one phoenix with good recursion in red, and a powerful lifelinker in black
As mentioned in another thread, I'd LOVE for the Titan cycle to be reprinted. Sadly, I know they will not because Primeval Titan is banned in that format.
I do want to see cycles reprinted of many things, such as
W - Stoneforge Mystic
U - Snapcaster Mage
B - Damnation
R - Kiki Jiki
G - Green Sun Zenith
What a fantasy land I live in.
I came here to post something similar. I know it's incredibly unlikely, but I'd love for them to include one monocolor, multiformat staple in each deck. I'll settle for a Sensei's Divining Top in every one, though.
Biggest problem is; WoTC would create another CMD2013 fiasco where the blue deck gets bought up by speculators/vendors as Cryptic Command is a 60 dollar card.
This in turn could be compensated by adding 'high value' to the other colours:
- Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite
- Damnation
- Sneak Attack
- Natural Order
But let's get real - this would be too much value for Wizards to add.
The CMND2013 fiasco was caused because the card in question (True Name Nemesis) could only be gotten in the UBR deck, and no where else. The Commands do not suffer from the same problem, as it is still possible (at least in theory) to find them "in the wild" by pulling them from an unopened booster (in the case of cryptic command, that would be Lorwyn or Modern).

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).

Quite right. The only caveat is that they might be a little gun-shy about higher value cards in this product, but it might not be feasible to alter things too much in the timeframe they have and short of really expensive stuff (a $20 card will not be $20 after being reprinted, and will probably be just fine. A $100 card might have some TNN-type effect) the concern is very much unwarranted. I think the timeframe is the key, though. If this product was finalised only shortly after Commander 2013 was released, they might have panicked and removed anything even slightly expensive. If the deadline was later, they would have had time to consider the actual situation and there's probably nothing to worry about. And, of course, if the deadline was before November last year then they couldn't have made any changes and we might well have another TNN this time around.
One thing I haven't seen mentioned in relation to the new cards they're adding is the number of new cards per deck, as compared to the number of new cards total. In the announcement, it says "There will be 61 new cards legal in eternal formats (Vintage and Legacy) but not legal in Standard, Block Constructed, or Modern, with 15 new cards in each deck." Obviously, they'll have to share some cards, since 15 times 5 does not equal 61. Furthermore, since these are mono-colored decks, they'll have to share artifacts. Crunching numbers quickly, one possible/likely configuration is 11 new cards exclusive to each deck, five uncommons shared among three of the decks, with each one receiving three of the five, and one common in all five. I'm not sure there's any other options that work, but I'm not certain. For reference, the previous sets had 51 new cards, likely because they could share cards more easily to still reach that 15 per deck total.
Why was this thread created, when I already created a thread for this very purpose? We do not need to have two such threads, do we?
As for my desired reprints, I would like to see Akroma, Angel of Wrath in the white deck (preferably with new artwork), inferno in the red deck (again, preferably with new artwork), defense of the heart in the green deck, and damnation and mutilate in the black deck (preferably with their original artwork).
The primordial cycle from Return to Ravnica would also be amazing, as well.
