As much as I want goyf to be reprinted so I can get a set, I honestly believe that they won't reprint him for the next 2 years. I don't think we will see him this summer and i don't think we will see him in a MM product.
I thought the same thing about the Onslaught fetches.
It's strange that StarCity has scheduled one of its two Modern Opens during the same June timeframe that happen after the TBD GPs, but right around the glut of Modern GPs that happen afterwards. Do you guys think this is insider information, or speculation on SCG's part?
Is it possible that with the new structure for standard they may bring back extended but with a different name? Have a alt art set for innistrad & rtr To boost interest?

I am pretty sure that Goyf won't be in Standard with both the fetchlands and Thoughtseize. Abzan is already great. Making it even better would be bad.

Lol I completely forgot about this thread. But anyways, regardless whether goyf is in a Standard product or MM2, I would like to see it as a rare, not a mythic. We all know it shouldn't be mythic.

Ummmm since M16 is the last Basic colection, and there are many rumours of reprints for this, I don´t think MM2 will be so late, and I won't be surprised if it is about late at january or early february.
Some of the reprints that I think can be or I wish to be in MM2:
Fulminator Mage, Spellskite, Inquisition of Kozilek, Liliana of the veil, Aven Mindascensor, Linvala, Voice of Resurgence...And Maybe Eldrazis, I don't see titans block since almost is only one being played (green), maybe manlands... But we will see.
The Kamigawa dragons saw no Modern play yet they got reprinted in Modern Masters. At least Primeval Titan, Inferno Titan, and occasionally Sun Titan see Modern play.
The more I think of it, the less likely it seems to me. First, the standard format is already a huge 'gift' from Wizards for Modern Players with the fetches costing less, and I think one 'gift' a year is enough.
As a modern player, I reject the notion that we should be waiting timidly to be graced with our one annual "gift" from Wizards. What's wrong with expecting more than the occasional playable card or token expensive reprint? I understand that Standard and Limited are more popular formats, but there's a huge middle ground between disproportionately supporting Modern at the expense of more popular formats and giving us one "gift" a year.
No way would i buy another MM box, the last one left a bad taste in my mouth. Not one good card in it, best was Kokusho, the Evening Star. Single cards for me, unless they try something new and "Add / Make legal" new cards like Magic 2010-2015 did.
Also, who said Wizards owes the players ANYTHING?! You're buying it anyway.
People won't buy it if it's a poor product. Wizards is a for-profit company. It makes products to generate revenue. We as consumers purchase said products. If the quality of said product is crap, we as consumers have the right to critique said company. Entertainment and hobbies are not a necessity, but rather, a commodity. At the end of the day, Wizards wants to keep its playerbase happy because happy consumers means more moolah, and unhappy consumers means less moolah.
Also, the justification for printing goyf is simple.
Tarmogoyf is powerful and iconic, which is a staple in modern and legacy formats. Fact!
Due to these factors, Tarmogoyf is desirable. Fact!
If Wizard reprint Tarmogoyf (even at mythic rarity), the majority of people will be happy that they might be able to get a cheap Goyf. Fact!
Wizard is a company, and they exist to make money. Fact!
Most people will jump at the chance to get a 'cheap' Goyf in the Goyf Lottery (which is aided by the fact that the draft environment was very fun), thus guaranteeing the set will sell. Fact!
Now assuming we get an unlimited print run set (ala Khans, etc), Goyf would by Mythic due to the simple fact that it would sell more packs, therefore making Wizard more money. Fact!
This is the reason Tarmogoyf is currently a Mythic rare!
Thanks to Celestial Crusader for the explanation. Saying Wizards owes nobody is a lame excuse. The reason why they're still making cards and money today is thanks to people who purchase their product. Wizards clearly value feedback. Feedback comes from mostly money votes (as well as other factors which I'm not gonna mention).
They've been quiet on the impact of MM, only saying it's a "huge success". By what measure? If they're basing off distribution to LGS, sure, it's a hit. Orders kept coming in but there's no further supply. The biggest GP ever? Sure, but we knew people were in there for the value lottery. These successes actually masked the underlying issues. GP Las Vegas organizers were scrambling all over for any MM box they could find to fund this extravaganza. Was this not reported? Possibly not to everyone.
Their intent was to increase the supply of hard-to-acquire cards in moderation. By simple logic, this would mean cheaper (not dirt cheap) cards. Yet cards like goyf became even more expensive. Isn't it a conflict of their aims?
The reach of Modern Masters (for Modern) was fairly minimal, due to their aims of making it draftable. As a result, many cards serve almost no purpose in the Modern format. I wouldn't mind it being draftable, but surely they an be enough cards from the modern t16 archetypes to be included for drafting too? I'm talking about nuts and bolts here. Not your Cryptic Commands and those high-end bling. Nuts and bolts make the deck too, in case people have forgotten.
Also, calling it the best draft format ever (or at least branded that way) and being one of the most limited in supply is such a dichotomy. Sample size is being thrown out the window here.
If MM2 could solve said issues, then we might have a winner. If it even gets to be on stage come 2015.

actually from a business point know, no company wants secondary market control, they make thier money off of selling boxes, and packs, so lets say like me I buy a case every set, I am looking for playsets, but the other buying is doing secondary market, someone open those packs to get goyf, so we then know that thats less goyfs oput there which means if people cant find it thier either buy a previous edition or more boxes, and the latter is good business for wizards.

So what cards do we think will be the MM2 Goyf? ie reprinted at higher rarity so that it has little to no effect lowering prices / making cards available, but will sell the set?

Who knows... maybe they listened to the griping and put Clique, Goyf, and Bob back at rare for MM2,
so they actually affect the price in a *good* way this time.

I fully expect to see the SHA/EVE filter lands too, but I imagine they will stay rare (which would be awesome... those things have become way too pricey).
I guess this means we won't be seeing any reprints of the Zendikar fetches til' Summer 2015 correct?

Magic Origins will be in the Summer. MM2 or something like that will be in the Planechase, Archenemy, Conspiracy place (the set released prior to the core set).

I don't think there's room for both in the summer, unless the Magic Origins trademark is for a new name for the final core set, although I thought it was confirmed it would be M16.
