Magic Origins will be in the Summer. MM2 or something like that will be in the Planechase, Archenemy, Conspiracy place (the set released prior to the core set).
I don't think there's room for both in the summer, unless the Magic Origins trademark is for a new name for the final core set, although I thought it was confirmed it would be M16.
I don't think it's been confirmed as M16, people have just been calling it that. However, WotC is conspicuously unwilling to use that name and it makes sense that the last Core Set would not need the rolling date system that they've used thus far. We know nothing at all about what Magic Origins is, it might be the June product, it might be the Core Set, it might be something completely different.
I'm not sure if origins is confirmed to be the last core set or not. They said they were doing something special with it that leads me to believe it's called origins/full of sweet reprints I'd imagine like counterspell.
I expect MM2 next year because I doubt WotC was at all happy with how the price aspect of MM1 worked out/very poorly in terms of the set staples/clique, bob, goyf, and now cryptic command. Hell even vial rebounded back to 20 when I got a dealer to give me 13 for a MM1 vial I was amazed.

No way would they bring Counterspell into Standard, and I'm not even sure they'd be comfortable bringing it into Modern. 1UU has been the cost of a hard counter for a very long time, they're not going to throw that away in the name of nostalgia, especially when they have any number of side products that can safely reprint stuff like that without it touching any new format.
If they feel that counterspell is above the curve for modern I find that hilariously stupid. Like, really? As for counterspell in standard the same could be said of lightning bolt in standard a few years back/never ever bring it back in a million years but look it was brought back. The UU cost in counterspell is prohibitive unlike the 1U of mana leak. Leak was fine in standard too it was snapcaster that put it over the top/one of the most powerful cards they have printed in the past decade.

After the World Cup Finals tomorrow there's going to be a product announcement by Helene Bergeot. Not sure what it will be tied to but this is the best bet for MM2 next year. Normally these products are announced 6 to 9 months before their release so it could fall in line with a May/June release.
Thank goodness. I have no idea why, but I have been itching for a product announcement of this mystery. They announced Dragons of Tarkir in early Nov for a late March release so this product could easily be in late May, early June.

Cool find. And since DTK is already announced, this upcoming announcement is almost certainly going to be Magic 2016 or the product for next summer which we can only hope is going to be MM2.
While it could be Magic 2016 that's kind of a known quantity already and I think the player base would be a little deflated if that was what this announcement was unless there was something really incredible tied to it.
Urg... the average card better be WAAAY better than MM1 to justify that price point of $9.99 a pack. Ensured foil in the pack is certainly not enough to justify that price point. $6.99 of the original MM1 was barely acceptable due to value reprints that could turn up. Also weird that the online packs are cheaper than the paper ones and can't be redeemed. They don't say if it is an unlimited print run or not. And no sign that they are reprinting MM1 alongside it like I'd hoped. It's good news overall, but some highly questionable aspects here. I'm wondering if the high price point is due to lots of stores the last time around jacking up the price of packs and WotC adjusting the price to get more of that profit, because they think people will still buy it. I wouldn't be so sure, especially since not LSGs brought up the price. IMO, they should be something more like $5.99, only a couple dollars more than regular packs of current sets, just enough to justify the ensured foil and higher average card value, but still more affordable to get a bunch of packs.
WotC seems to be trying to turn Modern into a cash-cow, given the price point they stuck on the Modern event deck and this new MM2015 price. I'm not sure if it will work as they hope.

The $9.99 price tag is only acceptable if in return we get an unlimited print run. Otherwise, this won't really help with the prices of Modern staples.

I don't see why so many people are crying about the high msrp. MMA booster prices jumped way up after, and if they're going to reprint relatively the same set of cards then it makes sense to say that they'll jump in price again. I think it makes sense that wizards charges a bit more for MMA2. If the community wants more modern then wizards will need to make it in their interests to support it, so might as well charge a bit more on sealed modern product.

If the MSRP is increased, it's fair to assume that the price stores have to pay for the product will be increased as well. If that's the case, they will increase the selling price accordingly in order to achieve the same profit margins as last time around. It wasn't uncommon to see ~$15 a pack for MM1, and it's well within reason to expect ~$20 this time around. That's a lot to ask to play the Emrakul lottery, or even the 'Goyf lottery. Not to mention the unfortunate reality of ~$60 drafts.

You're assuming that stores set their prices to achieve a predetermined profit margin, but if you think about it that doesn't make sense. Why make an extra $10 when you could make an extra $15? Why make $15 when you could make $20? The reason is because other retailers will undercut you if you attempt to raise the price too much. The price the market settles at has nothing to do with MSRP, it has to do with supply and demand. The wholesale price does have an impact on supply, but not as much of an impact as the literal supply which we're told is going to be higher than it was for Modern Masters 1. So unless you have reason to believe Modern Masters 2 will be in significantly greater demand than Modern Masters 1, I would not expect the market value to be much higher, and it may even be lower.
So let's speculate some on what cards will be included in the set. We already know that the latest set to be included is new phyrexia, so no grislebrand, snapcaster or abrupt decay. We already know emrakul and etched champion and I expect they will print staples that were not printed the last time around and maybe include some that were. So here is my guess to some of the valueprints we should expect to see from a modern-perspective:
They'll probably also add a lot of overcosted commander cards, but I don't know anything about commander so someone else has to guess here. As for legacy I guess most of the expensive cards are banned in modern or not legal, maybe infernal tutor or something. I guess they don't really care about legacy.
Obviously they'll also fill up with a lot of cards with a lot less value, like spell pierce, vapor snag, forked bolt, etc, but that will probably depend mostly on what works out in limited.
If they intend to print cards that were printed in MMA they'll definitely add goyf and probably cryptic, bob and clique again. Would also give a reason for legacy-players to buy some packs.
MSRP of these limited sets won't matter in the long run. Packs of MMA are going for $20 right now and I see no reason why MMA2 won't end up somewhere close to that. MMA2 will be in greater demand than MMA purely because of a $10 MSRP as opposed to a $20, and MMA2 will have new cards that are going to be in demand. The only reason to buy MMA over MMA2 would be if you need specific cards from MMA, and if that's the justification for buying packs then you can't really be reasoned with anyway.
The fact that MMA2 will be available to draft regularly, and while yes it'll be more than KTK, it would be less than it would be to draft MMA, and with the success MMA had as a draft format I'm sure MMA2 will be just as good if not better.
Guaranteed this will be horded like the last one. My LGS will probably start a box at $400-$500. The first MM they sold them at $275 on launch day which was $100 more than MSRP.

Noble Hierarch, Serum visions, Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, Scapeshift, Birthing Pod, grove of the burnwillows, remand, gitaxian probe, spellskite, Linvala, keeper of silence, Ranger of Eos, goblin guide, mox opal, horizon canopy, splinter twin and Kozilek, Butcher of Truth. I wouldn't be surprised to see a reprint of the titans either, in order to dilute the set like they did last time (well primeval is actually nice).
