So Aaron Forsythe's article today hinted pretty strongly that we're going to get a card representing Liliana's Chain Veil, something people had already been speculating about since the playmat with art depicting the veil was spoiled a few weeks ago.
What do you guys think the Veil is going to be/do? My guess is it will be a legendary artifact a la the god's weapons from Theros, that's flavored to be equipment for you - the planeswalker, rather than your creatures. I'm speculating that it will buff black creatures you control and maybe have some sort of reanimation ability, similar to Whip of Erebos.
I think if a card that iconic gets made, it will be a colourless artifact. Unless there's a cycle, a lot of players will be left sour if it's mono black. Especially since black has been so strong for the last year or so in standard.
It may not be the actual artifact it could be a enchantment. 2BB Curse of the chainveil. During its controller's upkeep it deals 2 damage to its controller. Maybe something of that sort.

For extra story-filled goodness, we've also included a certain legendary mythic rare artifact that has had a role in making Garruk the man he is today. Stay tuned to Uncharted Realms for that one.
It is literally confirmed by Aaron Forsythe it's an artifact.
Chandra's Gauntlet from M14 was colorless. I'm not one to cry cycle before it's there but if it's there hopefully the Chain Veil will be colorless as well.
the Chain Veil will probably be something like; activation cost, tap, "put target creature in a graveyard onto the battlefield under your control, it is a black zombie in addition to its other types" or something like that. if it does reanimate in any fashion i really hope it is costed more competetively than whip
Hopefully it will be representative of the actual item. The whole identity of the veil is that it's cursed. There are consequences for using it. It shouldn't just be some rare goodstuff artifact you consider playing if you're in black. But who am I kidding, black can't have powerful things at a price because it feels bad to new players. We wouldn't want them to think that using a dangerous thing is dangerous.
It could easily be colorless. Just because a black mage is using the artifact doesn't make it black. We have no reason to assume that other colored mages wouldn't be able to use it.
If it was black aligned, I'd assume it would be black activation costs, not black casting costs.
Still, my money's on straight colorless. This sounds very comparable to the "Marquee Cards" of the olden days of magic. A big, splashy artifact that everyone can be excited about. (ex. Jester's Cap, Grinning Totem, and, while it wasn't printed right away due to rules issues, Mindslaver was designed as one as well.)
Yeah, when I said it was going to be similar to the God's weapons, I meant in that it would essentially be equipment for you, the planeswalker. I didn't mean that it was going to be colored. I WotC might consider colored artifacts a little too complex for a core set.

I am with your conclusion it should have a powerful effect but have a drawback that makes you think twice about using it. As for my previous comment I wasn't aware the designer said it was a artifact. I don't have twitter or what ever medium he uses. I get my info from here and do get to every article so I spoke without the latest knowledge.

I linked to the article in which he mentions it in the OP, if you're interested.
Veil increases Liliana's powers and seems to be an answer to all her problems. As Liliana's enemies pile up, so do the complications.

You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.

I'm honestly expecting nothing. Power level is astonishingly low nowadays if it's not a creature. An artifact is "dangerous" too so you can bet it will be limited jank. BUT very flavorful. That's what WOTC aims for: cool cards with little playability factor outside of Limited, the #1 format.

It's such a stupid mentality, because most players don't play limited anyway. Standard is much more popular than limited, and most people who play MTG don't even play Standard, they play unsanctioned casual modern. It frustrates me so much that Wizards spends so much time building all their major sets around a format the majority of it's player base doesn't even play, yet alone on a regular basis.

Um... false. Maybe in paper, but drafts online are insanely popular because they fire all the time.
Don't get me started on Limited. It's so frustrating how much time they waste on a format that people will probably play once or twice at a prerelease. But it's even worse when they make decisions that really screw over constructed players (moving all the good removal up to rare, raising the cost of entry) for the sake of Limited.

Except it's the most played format. I draft 1-2 times a week along with many others at stores around me, so.....yeah.
Plus, Limited is by far the most played format on MTGO.

Old enough to know better, much too young to care.

Oh, ****. I'm sorry, man. I didn't realize you drafted once or twice a week. I take it all back.
Limited is amazing. It is such a thrill macgyvering the best possible deck out of the pile of cards handed to you in a sealed pool or outdrafting your peers. It definitely taxes a set of skills that not many players have much experience using, so it isn't for everybody.
