Some of these don't make much sense. Force of will makes absolutely no sense. I think when they say annihilation they mean it. I don't think spot removal is going to make it. They might have 1 Eldrazi just to be cute though. My 15 in no particular order.
or something along those lines anyways. Some of these are mostly just wishful thinking. Some of these are just concessions, like Pyroclasm and Tranquility. You know how wizards loves to slot commons into these products.
Unfortunately every try hard from Sacramento to Shanghai preaches from the top of their 27 lands + Mana Reflection that Tooth and Nail and Time Stretch are fine to play in the same turn but Armageddon is unfair.

I can understand the reasoning that spot removal doesn't fit the theme. However there won't be more than 1 mass-bounce spell; mechanics need to fit the theme as much as the name of a spell, so I think you're right about Upheaval. From that perspective, I don't see why Force of Will (or some other countering effect) wouldn't fit, excepting their spot removal aspect.
My prediction is that the leaked image will turn out to be real after all, because the reasons for dismissing it as fake are far less conclusive than everyone is assuming.
The leaked image is 100% real. Smokestack and Living Death both have art in vintage matters that matches the previously leaked at for the FTV.
Source? In the Vintage Masters card image gallery, Smokestack's image hasn't been updated and it still shows it's Urza's Saga's art. And about Living Death, as Queeg said the "new" art is actually the DOTP art, so it was known before.
Sadly, the leak looks real, this is going to be the first FTV that I haven't preordered 2 copies of since exiled. I will try to trade for as many living deaths as I can get for EDH, but the rest of the set does not excite.

It's seemed a little odd to me through this whole affair that it's considered necessary that there be positive proof of the truth of this thing or else it's just assumed unilaterally to be fake. Someone just has to say fake with whatever flimsy reasoning they can think up and the community will resist any evidence to the contrary until it's overwhelming.

It's not that odd when you take into account the overwhelming almount of fake images that tend to be posted here. It's the "boy-who-cried-wolf" effect, after twenty fake spoilers, you end up considering the true one also a fake.
Also, this community is usually too trusting, not the other way around. Just look at this thread:
First time poster, totally unbelievable story, no pictures, horrible designs (four different hybrid symbols on the same card? really?), and yet some people's reaction is "COOOL THE NEPHILIM ARE BACK!!!!"

Two simple no-further-exploration-required explanations that happen to completely contradict one another. Do you see why I'm not unsurprised?

This.
On the outside chance it's fake,
I mostly wanted Austere Command, but that's pretty much moot now
