Quote from Wolfman about lack of Conspiracy spoilers-
"I'd say this about guarantees that it won't be up till this Friday, but considering the current track record, the ETA is now probably two weeks after the set has been out."

Speak for yourself, if drawing *****-headed wurms makes social justice warriors cry I'll make it my favorite hobby.
im guessing LD the worldwas destroyed by war. it might be possible n they allrdy put utility ld in here with demolish n the green one
Having a land destruction focussed block would be like having a countermagic focussed block. They've gone on record that it's not fun to play against and have lowered the power level for that reason. They're not going to bring it "back" just for a minor flavour reason.
I would definately think they could do a wedge themed block without the need for an entire gold set again. Especially considering it's large-small-large, they would have the room for more multi-colored cards and a steady base of mono-colored
Is there a way to do a Wedge block without being a Gold set? i.e. something like how Apocalypse was with Ceta/Dega/Raka etc.?
Because then it would be a Wedge block, but not necessarily a Multicolor block.
This is where my speculation lies exactly. A wedge cycle or sub-theme is something asked for and never done. As for the something old (but reimagined) I would think something like Flanking or Horsemanship or Bushido only less confusing and more fun.

They could do some mono-colored cards with alternate color costed activated abilities, like Agent of Horizons, and perhaps have groups that flavor-wise within the set are wedge colored, like, say, 5 different armies, each focused towards a certain wedge, but made up of largely mono-color cards, with just a few odd gold ones each. The wedges would be mostly found in the flavor stuff and perhaps legendary general type dudes leading each army would be wedge colored.
Agreed, the chances of the Counterspell being reprinted with Wizards current design philosophy, is basically non-existance.
I would like to throw my hat in for Horsemanship returning for fun flavor reasons!

Disclaimer: As per the norm, I am aware some people will disagree with my opinion and I acknowledge there is a possibility that my opinion is wrong. There is a lot more scope for this one than the something new thread, but I'll list the ones that seem more likely given the context of what Maro was saying. The criteria for this is that a) It has to be something WotC has done before and b) Players have been clamouring for a return.
a) Wedge Block - Whilst not completely new (in reality it is just a multicolour block) this just about applies since it is a block they have never done before. There have been hints that this is a possibility, though it is quite close to a prior multi coloured set.
b) Fetch Lands - The names are generic enough that they might fit here, we have had hints that they will be reprinting these soon and there was a hint about pay 1 life lands development will want to be reprinting soon. Additionally people have been clamouring for these so this is a likely candidate. The only downstrike is a Return to Zendikar (which could be Blood) might want these more.
c) Full Art Lands - People have been definitely asking for this and they may decide not to tie it to Zendikar this time. Why they would specifically do this in Khans I have no idea though.
d) Horsemanship - I believe WoTC doesn't really like this mechanic and I don't think lots have people have been clamouring for it. Therefore I think the chances of this returning are low.
e) Delve - There have been a lot of people asking when Delve is going to come back properly. Wizards experimented with it in INN but it didn't fit the environment well, It is possible that it would work better with a non graveyard block and that they discovered it would work in Khans as a form of dark magic.
f) Old Races - There were indeed pictures of Orcs in the sample picture and races like Orcs and Dwarves have their supporters out in the playerbase. Both have been pretty absent for a while and this could be the return given that Maro has been talking about Dwarves a lot on Blogatog. Given that we can see an Orc in the picture I'm not convinced that this is what Maro is talking about.

It would necessarily be a multicolour block because that's what a multicolour block is. How is this a thing? Why do people think Apocalypse provides a precedent? Why do people think it's possible for a theme which is by definition about playing particular combinations of colours not to be a multicolour theme?
There will be no 100% gold Bizarralara Reborn set: we know this already, they've said Alara Reborn was a mistake. This does not imply that anything less than 100% gold frames is somehow not a multicolour block. Even assuming for the sake of argument that a block with no multicolour cards can be considered a "wedge block", it would still be a multicolour block because that's what those words mean!
Of course, I doubt very strongly that such a thing is in fact possible, and I put it to you that what you are actually proposing is a "wedge block without any incentive or means of playing wedges".
I think you're taking their words about Alara being a "mistake" a little out of context, but I see where you are going. If they are going to have a wedge theme, it will be multicolor - at least to some extent.

Old enough to know better, much too young to care.
I think you're taking their words about Alara being a "mistake" a little out of context, but I see where you are going.
There were a few mistakes Alara made (every set makes mistakes, of course, I loved Alara and I'm not trying to belittle it), the particular one I'm talking about here is making a set 100% gold. I admit it's a bit of a tangent (partly I just wanted to say "Bizarralara Reborn", and now I've said it again) but I'm really struggling to see what people making this sort of argument imagine a multicolour block to be. As far as I can tell, it has to have as many gold cards as possible or it doesn't really count.
If they are going to have a wedge theme, it will be multicolor - at least to some extent.
By definition. There is no such thing as a wedge theme that isn't a multicolour theme. It's like being told you can get a pet as long as it's not a reptile and then asking "Can I get a lizard? What if the lizard wasn't a reptile?" There are no non-reptilian lizards!
Have they done hybrid mana symbols that change the spell depending on what colors are used to cast them? That could be a way to promote multicolor in a mono color space

Shadowmoor demonstrates that a hybrid set with a monocolor theme will still be perceived as a multicolor set. People still complained it was "too much multicolored blocks too soon" (Ravnica, Time Spiral, Lorwyn/Shadowmoor, Alara). They will not do that again.

It is worth saying that for the same reason (i.e. development cycles) that fetchlands are probably not being reprinted in Tarkir, so too are wedge probably not going to come back.
This comes from the articles stating that R&D feel multicolored mana bases have been too good for standard for a while now and are actively trying to reign them back in.
Thus a Wedge block seems unlikely due to this regards, unless we end up with some cool mechanics or hybrid cards to allow for this too happen!

"Now i lay you, down to rest, you'll never be more than second best" (Megadeth)
I keep thinking about when Maro said that he wanted people to go wide the only old ability I can thank of that encouraged this is banding possibly if they tweaked it a little to make it make more sense for new players.
To the wedge theory, which I would love. it is possible that they could put a little bit of wedge support in and name the wedges, something Maro has said that he wanted to do. Say printing some legendary creatures as khans of different clashing regions while the set is mostly monocolored and printing a couple of tricolord planeswalkers in wedge colors. I suggest this because maro has hinted at having something to do with the wedges, and this would give the edh players some more wedge legends something I know they have been clamoring for.
The first thing that came to my mind was tribal. Though not in the sense of races, such as elf, goblin, etc. But more focused on classes ex. Warrior, monk, rogue, samurai, etc. Though it does seem like it would possibly be too soon for tribal since INN had tribal themes. More likely something else will be the focus of the something old and tribal will still have its place in the block by being a subtheme. Just my gut feeling from back when Mark first announced khans.
My second feeling is for a basic land matters theme, which would be a great time to bring back snow lands even if im not really a fan of them.
