I for one am very excited for Conspiracy. Drafting is always a fun format, as everyone has the same random odds of getting good cards. Whether you're picking up six packs and building a deck, or passing the cards around the table, it's a good time. My question is this: Where will Conspiracy packs be sold? Will they only be available at local TCG stores, or across all stores like Walmart, Meijer, Target, etc. The reason I ask is because I would be really upset to find that these packs will launch up in price if they are only available at the TCG stores. Most stores launch the value of these things so high that players can't afford to play them. Modern Masters had a similar effect. Although Modern Masters contained a lot of chase cards, I am wondering if the same thing will happen to Conspiracy.
So, my conspiracy is this: Will LGS be the only stores selling these packs, or will they be sold everywhere? If only at LGS, do you think the price will escalate? Discuss!
I would be shocked if Conspiracy was sold at "big box" retailers. The nature of the product, being draft focused, makes it more niche and likely a LGS only sale. We know the MSRP is $3.99 a pack, the only place with a pre-order up so far is T&T and they are marking it up. Supposedly, however, this will not be such a limited run like MM was so unless they print some serious money cards we can at least hope that the set will be affordable for at least the first few months. Assuming I can get boxes at a fair price odds are we will be drafting at least two before all is said and done.

I will always firmly stand by the belief that Magic is a game first and a collectable second.
Big box stores only sell individually "boxed" packs and things like duel decks, commander decks and holiday boxes. No big box stores sell booster boxes. With this being a niche product (which it is, unless they include some pretty sweet reprints), I wouldn't expect to see the packs sold individually.
If WotC comes out with some kind of two person draft product I could see those being sold, but considering this is meant to be a multiplayer draft set, I don't see a duel deck coming out.
I've seen two different Walmarts carry a single sealed booster box of newly released sets (at the $144 MSRP), so some stores do, it just depends on the person who stocks the trading card section and the company they work for.
However, as with the nature of this product, I doubt it will show up in big box stores. Modern Masters didn't show up in big box stores either, but it was geared more toward drafting anyway (like Conspiracy) and also had a limited supply.

There was a Yugioh set that came out like 2 years ago (I think)that was designed for drafting, and big box stores sold those in "draft boxes" (they were shrink-wrapped boxed sets). So there is a potential precedent for this to be at big box stores but I find it, sadly, unlikely.
It would be cool if they sold like packs of 3 or something for a premade packet to draft. I don't think that's likely since it said they were only available in booster boxes.
Anyhow I hope the price remains stable. I think it would upset a lot of players if the price was jacked way up.
I don't know for certain where they have gotten their info, but the store is very reliable. I would guess that the info is from WotC info sheet/email that retailers get. WotC stating that print-run is limited usually means that they have a set window for printing more product, but that window will close before set x needs to be printed, so if presales go especially well, there will be more product, but maybe only two printings worth.
So far the price has been a steady 87.5-90 € per box and several sellers here in Europe are taking preorders at that level. I almost went out and bought two cases, but scaled down a bit at the last moment to ten boxes. But I will be running both MMA and Conspiracy drafts this summer, so I wanted to secure my supply.
The not so great part is that I decided that Journey into Nyx can wait. I will pick up singles and some sealed pools, but I don't see the boxes carrying enough value yet. I will be picking up lot of semi-bulk rares after getting some of my money back from the Conspiracy product.
There's also a slight chance that Conspiracy will follow similar paths as Unhinged and Coldsnap. Boxes can be bought at 30-40 € each in a year, as retailers just want to get rid of them. I find this pretty unlikely if the other new cards will follow on Dack's pushed enough to actually matter in Legacy of Vintage, but if the set doesn't have proper balance betwen wacky and powerful, it might happen. A lot also depends on the reprints. In the extreme case there are Fetchlands and the box prices will move to high heaven as soon as those would be spoiled.
The funny thing is that I believe that the reprints will have bigger impact on box price than the new cards. If there are modern chase cards, more people will draft this, than if there woiuld be just Legacy/Vintage chase cards. But only time will tell.

I read somewhere in this forum that the cards in Conspiracy are not legal in Modern.

Note that MaRo claims it won't be a limited print run. And I don't see how it could the way of silver-bordered sets given that most of the cards will be playable in EDH.
