My money is on Ajani losing his other eye and getting messed up, traveling to Ravnica and getting cybernetic implants from the Izzet Guild, and then he'll be a U/W planeswalker, cause apparently he's on track to cover all colors.
that is for the cosplay hunt at PAX and could have absolutely nothing to do with the PW line up of m-15. think about how hard it is to cosplay a giant leonin vs a soldier dude. thats probably the real explation for it. it is possible though
I think a lot of people have already alluded to this, but this is Elspeth's story. Ajani is filling the archetype role of "mentor." It will be Elspeth (if anyone) who makes the ultimate heroic sacrifice. Now, I was also thinking if this did happen, and they ever wanted to return to Theros in future blocks, they could journey into Erebos's realm in order to save her...
He was standind with Elspeth in the trailer for it. We have more Ajani's than we have Elspeth's. She seems more popular and more along the line of soldiers.
Ajani toys are going to appeal overall more than other walker toys. Human toys only appeal is the character they are. Otherwise they're just another random toy in the shape of a person. But when one looks like a cat, it is a little easier to get kids attention even if they have no idea what it's from or about.
I could see him losing his other eye too and going blind. Maybe he will go the way or Urza and replace his eyes with stones, and that'll help him kill Bolas.

Whats the big deal about black lotus you ask? Well you see, there is no big deal about it. It IS the big deal.

Yeah, that is a brilliant theory. It has just a tiny couple of really minor flaws.
Urza did not "replace his eyes with stones". These were powerstones, and not standard ones. These were stones that housed the consciousness and a dormant spark of another planeswalkers. It was in the time when planeswalkers existed as matter projections of their consciousness and can pretty much assume any form they wanted. And even that, Urza and his eyes were considered unique and special by other walkers in that time.
But now the walkers are just flesh-and-blood powerful mages with planeswalking ability, not defying standard limitations for living things. Okay, there is some weird stuff like Ashiok, but still. If Ajani could find other two special powerstones with a soul and spark of an oldwalker, then there could be a negligible chance of that ever happening. Otherwise you would just get a blind catfolk with two very peculiarly placed stones.
Seriously, after watching the trailer, it is pretty clear that Erebos means Elspeth. And given the current state of her psyche - she lost her home, then Bant, then Mirrodin and Koth....does anybody think about what would happen to her if Ajani was killed during the Nyx mission, essentially because of her? I think that would break her for good.

I love it too. I think it's great. They've all aged somewhat and they have their differences. They seem to be maturing, because they were young when everything started with them. Ajani was somewhat young when his spark ignited, but he had a lot going on before that, and i feel he's gone through the most out of all the planeswalkers. Fighting Bolas will take it's toll on anyone.

One question about Ajani, if he becomes animated(Liquimetal coating and Animate Artifact), does Eye Gouge technically kill him? He is a cyclops after all

No... He isn't a cyclops at all. If he becomes a creature he is a creature with no creature types. Something with no creature types becoming a creature has no specific subtypes unless otherwise states that it has certain types. See Raging Ravine and Mutavault.
That is a rules question though, so should probably go into a thread in the rules question as to not derail this thread. Not that i care, but the mods might.
So on topic, nobody sees us having an Ajani, Enlightened Tutor or something in an upcoming set, showing him aging and towards the end of his life, ready to die of old age after living a long successful life?

That joke just sailed straight past.

nnnnnnnnnnope.
Not any worse than some of the speculation already thrown around in the thread.

Time just doesn't past that quickly.
You know how much time has past since Alara? LESS than 5 years.
They just don't do massive time skips anymore, it's bad for branding.
Not just that. It'll be bad for the memory bank too. MaRo has goofed up many moments with respect to the storylines. Better to keep going with the present. It's also better among old players like me.
I don't know. My guess is the prize of the underworld will be Xenagos, not Ajani or Elspeth. Sure Ajani is old and done a fair amount of adventuring, and no one can be invincible, but Cats, especially humanoid cats are one of the favourite creatures in all of Magic. Wizards killing Ajani would be just as devastating as killing Jace.

Haha. Sorry about being the guy to kill the joke. I get it now. One eye... cyclops... My bad. They have locked the flavor of the sets down a little bit better, so maybe no shot of him dying anytime soon of old age, but if he is set to be in the next core set, maybe it's something we'll see one day. Nothing lasts forever afterall.
I would prefer to see Garruk replaced by Nissa. We've only seen one nissa, but about 72 Garruks, (The same as we've seen now of Ajani.) So i would like to see the return of Nissa, but my favorite part about her was the way she worked with Nissa's chosen. So i'd like to see something like that in her again. Maybe a little more generic.

I hope so. The white planeswalker slot is the most limited mechanics wise but is also one of the most bloated. One of them has got to go and I hope it's not Sorin, Gideon, or Elspeth.

You've got a rat in your walls, and cheese won't solve anything.
I don't mind Gideon particularly but he does seem uninteresting character-wise IMO and his PW-iterations are far from that of the Lorwyn-5's ability-spectrum.
The question I have to ask is if either of you have actually read the Purifying Fire?
That'll explain part of it, but aside from that, he was a pretty huge part of the meta he was in.
Well, part of the archetype of the mentor is to die, but that usually comes after the hero s/he is mentoring is ready to succeed on his or her own. I'm not quite sure Wizards is so fastidious about archetypes though.

That I don't know. But since he isn't in M15 either way, I doubt that that indicates anything.
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
I am pretty sure that I heard that Gideon is replacing him in M15.
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
It isn't certain, but it is just as likely as the funko toy theory.

There's a handout being passed around PAX. I've provided a link to a picture of it. It's NOT hard to find if you'd just read the thread.
