I also think it will have artifact tokens in it to represent weapons and gold which would fit well with Dwarves also..
I love the Dwarf notion.
They are an archetypal tribe that hasn't received any love since Odyssey block. Which, (coincidentally?) was the most Barbarian tribal....
And they love gold!!
Hmmm, it's all coming together for us.

I have been noticing that elves haven't been seeing much love for a while in Expansion sets. And Dwarves! I would like some dwarves, but how would they act as white? There would need to be a lot of promotion of their sense of honor and unity. White traits, rather than love of gold and fighting.
Wasteland sees a reprint if your desert theory holds up.
That would break standard in half, so no, Wasteland will not see a reprint in a standard legal set, unless they create a mechanic that lets you return certain lands from your graveyard to either your hand or top of library.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
I'm the same wagon of you sharing love for Dwarves.
To me they are red creatures, and i believe using them as a Land Destruction tribe, would be nice 'cause:
1) Dwarves are faded away
2) Land Destruction as a deck strategy focus are long not explored by WotC. Pardic Miner, Mine Layer, Dwarven Driller, Dwarven Blastminer, Dwarven Miner, Dwarven Landslide.
On the rest:
B: a new race focused on reanimation (i'd say parasites that enter bodies), or Rats (discard focused)
WRBUG: enchantmentcreature
G: counter sharing creature, but doing it for free with a Lord
R/U: counter/burn wizards
W: Clerics Lifegain/Lifeloss

Dwarves with a land destruction theme are probably over and done with because "land destruction, wahh that's unfun"
Standard has been dumbed down to just turning guys sideways for the sake of newer players who can't handle losing their resources or getting their spells countered.

I believe that's the reason too.
But i think WotC is making a bad move here, specially because its an archtype that gives diversity to magic, and LD never got competitive play so, even with LD on Standard, odds are this will be just a deck option for enjoying the game. New player might google competitive lists (what they always do), and they'll do fine vs LD, or just play some other tribe that requires 1-2 lands out to play the whole deck, so LD won't bother much.

"Now i lay you, down to rest, you'll never be more than second best" (Megadeth)
Count me as someone that would like to see some new Dwarves as well. I also see dwarves as red, though one way they could move them in the direction of white would be to play up their proficiency for making fine weaponry and armor. Equipment focused abilities usually fall in the white slice of the pie, but I see no reason it can't become a red thing instead, white already has enchantments. It seems like Wizards has been looking to add to red's design space lately, why not start printing Dwarves more frequently (in red) and switch equipment abilities to red? It's not like it hasn't been done before (Godo, Bandit Warlord).
Edit: Also, I see no reason Dwarves can't still maintain their land destruction identity as well, even if my suggestion did come true. While I don't believe Wizards will ever allow LD.dec to become a thing again, they do still have to print ways to deal with all the powerful lands out there (Manlands, Valakut, Tron Lands, etc...).
