I was just bumming around on the gatherer, looking at different legendary creatures when I decided to look for legendary spiders. There are currently no legendary spiders in MTG.
What do you think the chances are for a legendary spider to be printed? The spider creature type has been around for a long time and most types that have been around for so long end up getting a legendary at some point.
I do realize that the spider creature type doesn't have much of a selection, but was mostly curious on what people thought the chances there might be one was.
[I wasn't sure if this belongs in baseless speculation or not since I have no information warranting this post.]
Another reason that I was curious of this was because they printed Dragonlair Spider but decided not to make it legendary, maybe power issues for commander, but that card is power, as some of the other spiders have been as well.
A couple months ago, MaRo said on Blogatog that a legendary spider was only a matter of time.
Also, I learned about Arachne in middle school. So, out of curiosity, how many people don't know the story of Arachne?
Eventually, yes. Theros block? Probably not - while Arachne was turned into a spider, this was a mundane arachnid, and Greek mythology lacks for spiders otherwise.
Either we get one in Return to Innistrad because giant spiders are scary, or we get one in the West African-inspired block because Anansi.
I'd expect a legendary spider once they start doing some sort of spider tribal theme. Things that are legendary have some sort of character, so having a significant member of a race of intelligent spiders would be the most appropriate.
there is no way to express the amount of want I have for a legendary spider.
While Spiders aren't necessarily that great of a tribe in MTG there have just been so many spiders throughout its history that a legendary spider should be made already.

I don't think Arachne would be a legendary spider but there should at least be a card that references her, I believe MaRo said in an article that they hit just about every Greek myth (I'm interested to see the Narcissus card)
I hope it is Jund when they do it. Tons of spiders in those three colors.

**** this site. I'd delete this account but that doesn't seem to be an option. The mods here are ******* useless ********s who ban people for simple ass normal words. **** them and **** this site.
that's not what happened at all. kamahl stabbed phage, akroma, and some old lady and they became korona. then korona got stabbed by her "prophets" and kamahl got drunk with a mutant centaur
The reason we haven't seen a legendary spider(and prob won't for awhile) is spiders themselves don't really get legendary status like other creature types can. If you look at legendary creatures they are social creature types and gather in groups. Spiders are loner animals. Also as someone mentioned before they are "mindless" beasts. IF they did do a legendary spider it would have to be one or more of the following:
a) be a humanoid hybrid like Elise from LoL
b) have lived as long, if not longer than, bolas and killed anyone who has tried to hunt/kill him
Some of you may think that you have made great mistakes in your lives, and perhaps you have. But let me ask you this.... did you ever play strip poker with two fat chicks and win?
If you were doing Arachne's myth on a card, though, she mostly just weaves really well, then pisses off a goddess and gets turned into a normal spider. I'm not sure a legendary 0/1 spider will be that enthralling.
Or they could make a big spider fatty. Something with Vigilance, deathtouch, trample, reach, and protection from blue and black. Like a green Akroma or something.

It could but the story is not so big or so known to make them do a Lgendary creature out of it.

Fair enough, but the Spider token left behind by Penumbra Spider is black. So there's that.
