So we've seen Theros. We know the mechanics and the general power level of the set. I'd like to know what everyone thinks we will see throughout the rest of the block. Here is my list to start things off.
- A mythic legendary Blue Kraken that's playable in some format.
- A legendary land like Academy Ruins for enchantments, except can use any color of mana to collect it.
- A rare bestow creature for each color to follow suit with Boon Satyr and the archon.
- More enchantments. Maybe enchantment removal, draw spells, defense, etc.
- More support for enchantments. Perhaps something like Aura Dancer, Greater Auramancy, or Dowsing Shaman.
- A legendary Cat, Zombie, Centaur, Minotaur, and Merfolk to give all of the lesser tribes a leader.
- Griffins!
- More hydra.
- Black's big removal spell.
- A better Reanimator spell for black.
- A creature you can cast from your graveyard as long as your devotion is high enough.
- Big spells that represent the "Power" of the gods. Thassa can get a big evacuation or inundate type of card. Purphoros can get a Lavalanche for red. Etc.
- Cards that have no mana costs but only bestow costs.
- Blue's good draw spell.
That's all I have for right now. The list is just what I want, so tell me what you think and include your thoughts and ideas as well. Discuss!
The dual-color Gods need to have abilities that correspond to their colors, like Mogis = god of war, pain, etc., so his abilities should be about those.
In the same way you can tell someone is from the XVIII century because he is arroused by ankles, you can tell someone is from USA because he feels nipples disturbing.

I gotcha. I forgot about him. So it's really just red and blue then. Also, I agree with all of your ideas. I really would like to see those in Theros, especially the bestow cards and the legendary cards.
Also, I agree with the legendary Pegasus idea. What would it do though? If it wanted to take from Greek myth, it would have to tap to search for an island or let you search for a lightning bolt or something. Both of these ideas seem implausible though. It's more likely it would give target human +2/+2 and flying. Whatever it does, it should totally have protection from chimera :).

I think we could see Serum Visions, Preordain no, but Serum Visions would be fine IMO.

- A legendary Cat, Zombie, Centaur, Minotaur, and Merfolk to give all of the lesser tribes a leader.
Since when did zombies and Merfolk get classfied as lesser tribes? They're right up there with goblins and elves as tribal posterchilds. Still, more EDH generals are always fun.
I'm hoping for bestow that isn't "staple this creature to another creature." Something like enchantment based soft removal like Pacifism/Arrest for the aura mode.
Another upgrade for bestow I'd like to see are creatures where the bestow cost has equal cmc but a more restrictive color weight (2W creature, WWW or WWU bestow). Alternative means of reducing the cost are fine too. Maybe "~ costs X less to bestow where X is your devotion to COLOR"
With both Mutilate and Killing wave rotating, I'm also expecting black's next piece of mass removal somewhere in this block. While I'd love a Damnation reprint or a 'Night of Judgement', I could also see them printing a devotion based cross between plague wind and mutilate. Something like "Creatures you don't control get -X/-X until end of turn where X is your devotion to B." Not sure what that would cost though.
edit:
[CARD]
Opalescence[/CARD], or maybe an enchantment creature similar to it.
edit 2:
....how does opalesence work with non-aura enchantment creatures? .....I'm expecting an enchantment creature that refrences Opalesence.
Opalescent ______. Non-aura, non-creature enchantments are creatures with P/T.......
edit 3:
One last thing for my wish list. A bestow shade with a low cmc (but black mana dense) bestow cost. 0/1 p/t would be fine.
Lots of interesting ideas guys
*snip*
I'd also expect the Leonins of Theros (which got pretty much nothing so far) and the Centaurs to get some more good stuff - not necessarily directly tribal, but enough to build a deck around them.
Well if rumors are true and there is a new Ajani I would expect the Leonins to get some nice representation.
YES! These would be great as devotion enablers as well, I could see these also fitting the theme of an 'enchantment' block. Course it could just be my bias since I still have my old set of the Nemesis ones.
-Cycle of command-like cards with a god theme
-A new blue cantrip utilizing scry
-Another enchantment-centric mechanic
-More support for devotion at lower rarities
-Daedalus and Icarus U/R legend
- A legendary land like Academy Ruins for enchantments, except can use any color of mana to collect it.
Hmmm.. I would expect just such a land for sure, but I expect it would be activation (only) just for consistency'ssake. Why do you predict 5-color option this time?
With all the Scry stuff I wonder if we'll get any more FateSeal cards? Isn't Spin into Myth a really big play in EDH on opposing generals? Judging from recent sets, that alone seems like one more reason we could potentially see more Fateseal stuff.
Edit; Hmmmm...."Spin into Myth" With a name like that, I think it's VERY LIKELY we'll see that card (and perhaps other Fateseal cards) at some point in this block.
If we're getting lots of enchantments the one I would like to see reprinted is Hecatomb as it is linked to ancient Greece and sacrifices.
Oh, I do like this idea! Also, Engineered Plague doesn't really fit, and Black does not have a mass removal spell already in Theros. Hythonia doesn't count.
I think we know enough to start a Design Skeleton for Born of the Gods, and I'm not being facetious.
These are the Themes I noticed from Theros, that are likely to be continued in Born of the Gods in specifically Structured ways: We can guess A LOT of cards based on how formulaic the last set was, I would say we can guess at least 100 of the 221 remaining cards of the block. (165+156 cards) Yes, 100.
I. THE GODS- we have CONFIRMED cycles for the Gods that determine a good 20-50 cards for the rest of the Block, which as soon as we get an indication of the 'split' of Color Pairs of Minor Gods, we can turn our "Design Skeleton" into a REAL Name and Number Crunch.
Enchantment Creature Gods
1 for each Color Confirmed
1 for each Color Pair Confirmed
Temples
1 for each Color Pair Confirmed
Nymphs
1 for each Color Confirmed 1 for each Color Pair Probable!
Bestow and Devotion are not guaranteed or likely to get more cycles, because I'm thinking that the space for entire CYCLES is instead going to be taken by developing the mechanics they have and introducing new mechanics. There will be more Bestow, but a whole Cycle of Rare Bestow creatures after we can safely bet that each Minor God gets a Nymph....is a lot to ask
====================================================
5 New Lands + 10 New Gods + 10 New Nymphs = 25/100 cards I promised to predict related to the Gods.
II THE HEROES- we have PATTERNS for the Heroes, and Heroes may-or-may not include Level up creatures in this Block (that's wild speculation on my part). We DO have certain Patterns though that give us hints for particular uncommons and rares we can expect.
1 Rare Hero per color- *not disproved/not confirmed*
1 Rare Legendary Creature of each Color Pair *not disproved*/*not confirmed*
There were 4 of these in Theros, that leaves 6. Probably 3 per set.
1 Uncommon Cycle of "Multi-Target Heroic Enabler" in each set (each set that HAS Heroic) to make Limited work. -not disproved/not confirmed*
Auras- I don't see enough patterns to how they are executing Auras to actually guess specific Design Skeleton-related details, other than "we will probably see no less than 15 Auras per Set in Theros, a cycle at each non-Mythic Rarity"
==================================================
5 New Rare Mono Colored Heroes, 6 New Gold Legendary Rare creatures, 5 Uncommon "Up to Two" spells, 5 New Rare Auras, 5 New Uncommon Auras, 5 New Common Auras = 31/100 Cards
The Heroes section is most likely to change the most over the course of the Block between "Born of the Gods" (very likely to be very like Theros) and "Journey into Nyx" (very likely to be very DIFFERENT) (see the difference between a Paragon Tier and an Epic Tier in any RPG)
*Important to Note: So far the only Mythic Legendary Creatures we have are Gods and Monsters. Heroes are Mortal, and probably stuck at Rare.*
III. THE MONSTERS
Do Sphinxes counts as Monsters? Centaurs? Chimeras? Gorgons? yes/no/maybe. How many Hydras? How many Dragons? Medomai was a Mythic in Theros that breaks most of my 'cyclic' patterns and thus represents the kind of card I don't think we can predict ahead of time.
Lorwyn was a VERY Tribal block, Innistrad KINDA had Tribal themes, I think Theros will STILL have Tribal-ishness going on, but even *less* than Innistrad, so the Tribal Minotaur cards will be hard to count before we see them, for example, with Sphinxes, Chimeras, and Hydras KINDA being "Monster Tribes", but for all we know we'll see entirely different "Monster Tribes" take the place of Sphinxes, Chimeras, and Hydras over the course of the Block. Gorgons and Minotaurs are LOCKED, others...less so?
This section is going to be the most interesting to watch develop, especially because of Mogis and Pharika. I don't pretend to make any predictions about what Mythics we may see, how many more Monstrous cards get made, what direction the Monstrous mechanic is going. I predict the Monsters will have the coolest "New Stuff" in "Born of the Gods", like we saw Undying in Dark Ascension, not because the Monsters will be the FOCUS of the next set, but because they have the most open-endedness to them, all KINDS of things are still possible, while the GODS-themed stuff will be HIGHLY scripted/predictable, and the Heroes to a lesser extent will also be "somewhat" predictable.
31+25 = 56 cards/100 that I thought I could guess.
56 out of 221 cards in the Block roughly known is pretty lolz to me.
If anyone has contributions to make that I missed (maybe they are confident they can guess more Scry or Devotion than I guessed) they are free expand this until we have all 221 cards for the next two sets of Theros Block predicted!
I am probably every color-combination it is possible to be, though it's really hard to figure out what it would mean to be 4-colored....it doesn't seem logical to be 4-colored without being 5-colored.
I just want a 1cmc aggro minotaur so I can make R/B minotaur tribal for casual fun. And another 2cmc minotaur would be nice as well, but that's also a good time to Lightning Strike.
But that's really not the point. The point is, you get a solid beat stick for six mana, who you can, at a later time, make bigger with the added bonus of killing everything else on the board, at instant speed no less. Turning a 4/6 into a 7/9 while killing every other creature should often be enough to win you the game.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
So that card might be good if you have another card on the table? That's bad reasoning.
Hey not just 'another card'. But...
- Another bad card.
- Another bad card that must stick around for several turn in a completlely unreliable way.
- - Another bad card that must stick around for several turn in a completlely unreliable way. that have better synergy with many others cards in the format, like Rakdos's Return.
So yeah, playing LotDR + Hystonia sounds like a plan that could be beaten by any pre-constructed decks. I dunno, even the sealed decks I keep after pre-releases could probably work around this =/
I dunno if Black will get or not it's black sweeper. It's not like black is the primary color for sweeper-like removal in the first place.

A new enchantress or five, PLEASE.
A fixed Vernal Equinox could be a semi-nice functional reprint, as well as Daybreak Coronet.
We need our son of the head god, our Hercules/Heracles of the set/block (I KNOW WE GOT ELSPETH BUT JEEZ).
WE NEED MOAR/BETTER HEROIC ENABLERS DAG NABBIT.
We need non-mythic, aggressively costed Monstrous creatures, as well as aggressively costed Bestow cards.
A mythic Bestow creature.
A Bestow creature that gives bonuses equal to devotion.

If you want to catagorize her as a spell, that means she costs 10BBBB. Otherwise it doesn't work due to the delay between casting and activating.
With Liliana of the Dark Realms in standard, that cost isn't to hard to cast.
