I'm hoping that Theros will be "Legends done right" in the same way that Innistrad was "Odyssey done right." Similar themes, but with far better execution, design, and creative vision.
I hope we get some awesome "God" like cards! Similar to the Eldrazi but colored or in colored pairs/wedges/tricolors. I mean, if they're doing Greek/roman you know they're about to have some sick awesome cards!
How do you come to this conclusion? I don't think this will be as legendary heavy as Kamigawa. In a way Kamigawa could be called "tribute to Legends".

Definitely not as legend-heavy as Kamigawa, just like Innistrad was not as graveyard-heavy as Odyssey. I wouldn't be surprised at all if there was a minor "Legends matter" subtheme in the block as part of a larger "mythic heroes, gods, and monsters" overall flavor theme. There's a lot of inter-block synergy, too, since the preceding block has a whopping twenty legendary creatures between all three sets, ten of them in a single small set.
Less of a "tribute to Legends" than "the legends mechanic done right," I'd guess.
Wizards has been comfortable revisiting mechanics to "get them right":
- Lorwyn as "tribal done right"
- Innistrad as "graveyard done right"
They've been pretty vocal that they felt they "overdid" legends in Kamigawa. I could see this set as an attempt to reclaim legend as a meaningful, powerful card type.
Also, ROE was considered one of the best Limited environments of all time by many pros and developers. I could see them attempting another return to "battleship Magic."

This is a little wrong. The first set should be Theros, the second one Born of the Gods and the third set Journey to Nyx.
In the underworld point I agree since Nyx sounds a lot like Styx.

im thinking it could have a very 'myth and legend' feel
but im sort of guessing a gladiator/arena theme
maybe with the 'fight' mechanic taking a bigger focus
legends 'challenging each other to a fight' before combat
maybe lands with an arena subtype that help the 'fight'

This is true and intentional. The last time they did a full-on culture, people didn't get it. *cough*Kamigawa*cough*
The problem with the public's reception of Kamigawa wasn't that it had a Japanese cultural theme, it was that many of the Japanese cultural elements of the setting were things that they weren't familiar with. Samurai and Ninjas went over great; weird-looking kami and unfamiliar humanoid species weren't so great. They learned that it's more successful to play into an audience's expectations (and add fresh new twists to that material) than to be more technically faithful to the source material at the expense of familiarity.
Have now doubt they will add a lot of their personal inspiration to the 'real mythos'.
So far the art and theme looks kick ass. After ROE mtg is in another level imo.
Understand, Dredge is not really a Magic: The Gathering deck. When a card is playable in it, it doesn't mean it's a tournament playable card. It means it's playable in whatever crazy fantasy world that Dredge operates in.

Clash of the Titans and Wrath of the Titans movies. Hades, Zeus, The Kraken, etc. Both were summer action popcorn stories on the silver screen.
Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel, and Aquaman. Where do you think these three came from? WW is Amazonian, Amazons were in Greek mythos. Captain Marvel when he shouts the word Shazam the Z is for Zeus. Aquaman = Poseidon.
Percy Jackson & the Olympians. Need I say more?
Hercules the Animated Movie and Television Series owned by Disney?

Point being that here in American Culture, where I'm from, its very heavily saturated within the past two decades involving stories that came from the Greeks. The only people who wouldn't know of Greek Mythology are those who have:
A) Not heard of it.
B) Don't care about it.
If one were to suggest that sure the heroes and demigods and gods themselves are popular but what about some characters that may not be as popular?

In my country, the greek mythos is extremely popular within my age range (24 years old) because of an anime called "Saint Seiya", that is based in the Greek mythology.
