Oh, and for something between 100-150 dollars, we will see the Modo cube in paper with non-tournament legal backs (like the world championship decks they used to do), with 250 basic lands with 250 different pieces of art!
Market it more as a board game than a Magic product (cause most designer board games with that many pieces already cost 100 dollars or more)
i think if they did make a serra PW it would either cost like a million to cast.
+1 target creature has flying, vigilance until the end of turn.
-2 gain 5 life.
-10 you get an emblem. All creatures your control have flying, vigilance and indestructibility.
The release of Modern Masters may be coinciding with the Twentieth Anniversary of Magic: the Gathering, but it hardly seems to be an appropriate product for commemorating twenty years of this awesome game, as it contains cards from only Eighth Edition to Alara Reborn, but none from sets before Eighth Edition. I myself am hoping to see a product similar to it, but with cards from every expansion set thus far in the game's history, plus a number of special events and competitions. Surely, WotC shall have something grand and spectacular planned for M:tG's twentieth anniversary?

People need to get it through their heads: Nothing on the reserved list will ever be reprinted with the possible exception of a judge promo. So, you can (FOREVER!) forget about getting Alpha, Beta, or Revised Duals. Those lands will (FOREVER!) be expensive, and (FOREVER!) continue to rise in price.
FOREVER.
The only possibility that Duals will decrease is if Legacy collapses as a format. Considering the fact that legacy remains the eternal format of choice, and has GROWN in popularity every year since MtG's release, this is not likely to happen. And even if, EVEN IF, this were to happen they will still likely stay high priced. Look at the moxen in Vintage?
So forget about it.
No FTV: Restricted.
No Dual Lands as some widely distributed promo.
NO.
As for the 20th anniversary, I think Modern Masters is probably it.

I'm hoping for a cycle of old planeswalkers and legendary creatures like Urza, Yawgmoth, etc. That'd have to be in the core set, since core sets don't have to make sense. At the very least I expect a lot of nostalgia from M14. And yes Modern Masters might be part of the anniversary "celebration" and I'm quite excited for MM.
As for the 20th anniversary, I think Modern Masters is probably it.
Do you seriously believe that Modern Masters shall be the only form of commemoration for the twentieth anniversary of this great and awesome card game, that has entertained millions of players across the world for nearly two decades? Magic: the Gathering helped to create the trading-card game genre, and it remains to this day one of the most popular trading-card games in the world. Surely, such a milestone deserves a grand celebration of some form?

well since we're getting modern masters next year i'm gonna go out on a limb and say 2013 is also the year we see power come to mtgo. OR the return of leagues *finally*.
I hope we see Squee return to the storyline alongside Karn. It'd be nice to have more of the older characters from the lore return, even if just for the anniversary year. Squee is really the only other old-Magic character that would reasonably return (that I can personally think of).
My guess is that they may decide to change frames again, but that is probably not in the cards. Ha. One thing that I thought would be really fun is if they made a big set. By that I mean like 1000 cards. Only slightly more rares and mythics, but way more commons and uncommons.
It would be crazy fun and it would probably add complexity to standard and more sales as well.
Again, it probably would never happen.
Realistically, they will probably have a greatest hits duel deck of some kind. One deck with old frames and the other with the current frames.
Modern Masters is a really good product for the 20th anniversary. I don't think there will be more than a sort of commemorative M14 with some reprint for average or good cards of the past, a promo like the Rukh Egg, and maybe a 20th anniversary theme for the FTV.
And why not a return on Dominaria for the new block, or new things about the brother's war.
I know that I dream, but it would be so wonderfull if they would BURN the Reserved List and would announce Legacy Masters boosters. But they may officialy kill Legacy to promote Modern.
My prediction will be something along the lines of.
" for M14 we are excited to announce that we have removed all key words and abilities from cards because research has shown that doing anything except for turning your cards sideways isn't favoured by the community".
the only problem with urza is that he is an oldwalker, so its abilities would be like:
+3: remove up to ten target permanents from the play
-2: win the game
-8: kick your opponents in the face, then win the game
starting loyalty: 100
i think if they did make a serra PW it would either cost like a million to cast.

-2 gain 5 life.

loyalty: 3
I want to ask both of you a strait question. Do you think This is the limit of Bolas' power?
No, it simply is not. If any of the Oldwalkers were printed at this point then they would get much the same treatment. Cards that represent a portion of their power that they have lent to you. Remember also that Liliana and Sorin are both Oldwalkers and none of their versions have had the mythical "-100: You win the game" ability.

Is that a joke, I hope? That is not even the first time that I have heard that joke, so may I ask: from where did it originate?
Sorin is an oldwalker and theyre pitting him agaonst tibalt...
Yes, but perhaps Tibalt has some great hidden power that he has not yet fully mastered, similar to many protagonists from Shonen manga (i.e., Gohan, Ichigo Kurosaki, Naruto Uzumaki, etc.), power that he may better understand later in the story?

I agree with this statement completely. Each card that depicts a planeswalker portrays only a portion of their power; i.e., each different version of Jace, Chandra, Garruk, Ajani, and/or Liliana displays only some of their full potential, and the same would be true with cards of Urza or Serra were ever printed. Of course, since Urza and Serra are two of the most legendary and iconic characters in the storyline of this game, cards of them would need to be very awesome, indeed, to properly capture their sheer awesomeness and thus please the fans; for example, Karn is a character from much earlier in the story of the game-one of its most epic storylines, to be specific-and his card, in my mind, does indeed properly portray his awesomeness, as it has abilities that no other card in the game has (plus, he has very high starting loyalty and is the only planeswalker with an ability that grants him a +4 increase to loyalty, making him very difficult to destroy).
Yes, I would dearly like to see another "You Pick the Card" or (even better) "You Make the Card" for the game's twentieth anniversary, as that would be very awesome, indeed.

Why wouldn't that be close to the limits of Bolas's power? He isn't even that great anymore- he even got beat by a normal Ajani and his bones crack as he moves them because of severe old age.
We're talking about old walkers. Even just a tiny portion of an old walker on a card would be:
10000cmc
+0: Destroy all creatures
-0: All opponents discard their hands
-0: Win the game
Loyalty: 1
...and a full version would be like:
100000000000000cmc
+0: Remove the plane, everyone loses
-0: Create a plane, start a new game in any way you like
-0: Legally rip up all your friend's decks
Loyalty: 1
I would love Urza, Yawgmoth, etc. but they would have to think of something else rather than just putting them on cards (such as a pretend "if" they came back as a neowalker scenario)... planeswalker OR creature. I bet these days if they had an old walker like Bolas as a creature it couldn't be a 7/7 get an opponent to discard a card on hit, it would have to be a 1000/1000 shroud indestructible protection from everything.

I forget when they last did it (maybe 8th ed), but it was freaking awesome and something that I'd love to see again. Something like: Wrath of God vs. Day of Judgement or Path to Exile vs Swords to Plowshares.
