So, Gideon has "chosen a guild" and is fighting alongside the Boros guild leader in the recent art from the Magic SDCC Panel. I'm willing to bet that it's promotional art for the set itself, like posters etc., but I'm more interested in the card that will ensue, since we also got confirmation that Gideon will get a card in Gatecrash.
So, Boros Gideon.
My thoughts are;
Will he cost mono-white and be allied with the Boros Legion, or will he cost Boros?
Will he be "pushed" to the degree that RTR's Jace was semi-confirmed to be?
Does Gideon's movement away from order for the sake of order and justice and towards the fiery "justice first, questions later" mentality of the Boros mean that he and Chandra could actually work now? Seeing as her attitude towards him was marred by the fact she could not relate with a member of the Heliud, if he left the Heliud and joined the Boros, exemplifying their ideals, my consideration is that Chandra could forgive him, and their relationship could develop.
Added to that, to what degree will Gideon's desire to stop the Eldrazi on Zendikar translate to him fighting for/with the Boros? And could "Gatecrash" imply something Eldrazi this way comes? >:D
Ahh well, just ramblings on the set. WHAT'S IMPORTANT IS THAT GIDEON AND BOROS WOOO.

I suppose SOMETHING has to be crashing those gates, and the presence of Gideon is a HUGE red flag for those following the story. It's not like he's going to show up in Ravnica and just forget why he went there... right?
Red should be burn, Goblins, Dragons, draw/discard, and Standard-unplayable 5CMC cards with insane, lengthy effects that take 10 minutes to figure out what they do and another 20 to actually make their effects work on the field.
They confirmed he will appear in Gatecrash and that he is allied with Boros. There's an image floating around showing him wearing a new outfit that includes the Boros insignia and some flames on the belt (check the ComicCon thread). I'd say that's almost a lock that he'll be R/W.
Personally, I'm expecting Gideon and Kiora to be hybrid instead of gold. Jace will most likely be gold.
Personally, I'm hoping they stick closer to the Shards model and let some walkers stand as mono-color rather than dumping gold on everything.
Though Ral Zarek looks substantially less likely with Gideon confirmed ally to the Boros standing next to the Leader.
The implication lines up that Jace will be backed by the Izzet.
Same here Barinellos. Being in Boros doesn't mean that you have to be R/W. For some reason I really dislike the idea of Gideon being R/W. His personality never fit R/W.

Well, one of the major aspects of the plot to Purifying Fire was the dichotomy between red and white at their core tenets.
If Gideon suddenly switches sides... well, he didn't change between PF and Zendikar, so if he does now, it's going to seem really forced, especially considering the fact that Zendikar and RTR aren't that far apart timewise.
I feel Gideon is in Boros and not Azurious because he is in need of help.
He needs the action that Boros provides rather than the Durdling of the U/W guild. Furthermore what use does he have for bureaucrats it is an army he is looking for.
He might still be mono white and I kind of think he is (just like jace is still probably mono blue).
The problem is that the first gideon is such a good white control card that making him a white aggro card seems wrong against his niche in the game. I hope he is still an anti agro card and not an aggro facilitator that most boros cards are.

Boros Gideon would not be the first mono white planeswalker to have a boros version.

The point of Gideon wasnt to be control friendly; the idea was that he was a planeswalker that fought on the frontline himself. That he was useful for control was an outcome, but not how it was envisioned. They achieved their goal, he just happened to fit into control more.
Maybe Gideon is more angry / different after ZEN and the Eldrazi. He has seen a lot of death and destruction. He might have a much more driven streak now.

But there are plenty of monocolored creatures and spells affiliated with Boros. Shifting his color is unnecessary just to have him join up. Feels way too much like bottom-up design for something as flavorful and iconic as an established Planeswalker.
I think the point he's making, too, is Gideon isn't too trusting of fire magic. Which is not to say that that's all that R as to offer...
If they can sell the story really, really well, and we don't end up with some kind of poorly conceived, hack transformation (think Anakin-->LOLnowi'mdarthvader) then i'm fine with it.

Besides all that, allying with the Boros won't really help much unless he finds some way to transport an entire army to Zendikar which.... will be really really hard without some major intervention.
I'm not entirely against a color shift, but I'm not seeing any way they can do it without breaking the central character of who Gideon is.

Gideon actually wearing the Boros insignia is awesome. I'm conflicted about Jace though. I *really* want an Izzet aligned Jace, and he's in the promo art with Niv, which basically screams Izzet-Jace just like the art for Gatescrash screams Boros-Gideon... but having Jace as U/R walker severely undermines Ral Zarek ever getting a card. And that would be sad, really.
If u look at the commisioned artwork for Duels of the planeswalker 2012 it features all the planeswalkers expect bolas and expect ral zarek even though kiora is in it. For me it kinda points out wizard wanting to use kiora alot more than use ral.

Another RW walker would just be scary after Ajani Vengeant.
Too bad it won't be that sweet Kormarck art. Unless he made a variant without the angel, but you know they don't do things that way.

Personally, here's hoping for a mono-white with alliance to the Boros rather than Boros colored Gideon.

Goldmane is actually the latter planeswalker rather than Vengeant, who chronologically came before the mono-white version.
Aside from that, color shifts need to be dramatic alterations of the character. It's not something that should be done casually.
Eh, he didn't see that much.
