Well, I wasn't expecting my other speculation thread to be closed immediately after I posted it, especially since there have been weaker speculative arguments than the one I presented. I never meant for what I said to be taken as fact, which is precisely why I put it under "speculation". It just seems incredibly abrupt for a forum based on ideas that have yet to materialize.
I'd just like to point out that one of the counterpoints I was met with, "Sorin's name is Sorin, not Josu", is invalid in the world of fantasy. Volrath's name was Vuel once. Heck, Darth Vader was once Anakin Skywalker. Names change. It isn't, in the moderator's words, "silly" to assume the case may be the same here.
Do what you will with this thread, too. It just irks me when I'm immediately dismissed as "grasping for straws" in a forum where we're supposedly encouraged to speculate, and even possibly engage in discourse concerning the validity of these prospects.
You have a point, and I agree with you. Several of my speculation threads have been closed by mods because of their invalidity. They do have a point though, and them closing those threads that just clog the forum, making other interesting ones unseen, is better in the end. I haven't actually seen your original post, so I can't speak on your part. But it makes sense what they're doing, despite how 'important' we think our threads are.
I agree that some of the speculations here might be silly, but at least they're given a chance to air out before being locked. Take the horsemanship in Innistrad one, for example - that was particularly unlikely, but it at least survived more than one page of discussion.
As for my original (and only) speculation post, it's this: http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=344579. I originally avoided linking to it here because I was worried the moderator might assume I was trying to bypass his lock. Since you asked, however, here it is. Please avoid discussing it here since it was pretty clear that discussion on the matter was unwelcome on this forum. Thanks.
Most of the forum is like that, though, you just need a mod to disagree with you to have them lock it, no questions asked, no chance to explain yourself, not just the speculation area so it's pretty common. I've seen some pretty regrettable consequensces of some mod's poor judgement.

The more pressing one you glossed over is that Sorin is older then all other planeswalkers (minus Bolas) combined. The name thing is just icing on the cake.
The line of speculation doesn't make sense given Sorin's age vs. Lilliana's.

There's no arguement to be made. There's no discussion to be had.
What exactly was there to dicuss? THe possiblity that Sorin's name isn't his real name? Well we have no real information on his past, so that's a dead end. Are we going to discuss a possible connection between him and Vess? Well besides being in the same set as each other, and being the same color... there's nothing to tie them together (two things many planeswalkers have in common).
A theory that can be neither proven nor disproven doesn't leave any room for discussion. It just degrades. Which is why this forum is for informed speculation, which is speculation which can be backed up.
* This is moot though, given that the theory doesn't work.

His other point that sorin is far older then liliana is still a valid point. So he did have reason to close your thread.

If you have an issue with action taken by a moderator, resolve the issue by PMing the moderator or posting on their help desk. Making a thread here is not the appropriate action to take.

Probably a better place to inquire about any relation between Sorin and Vess is the Storyline boards.
